The conversation was recorded with Kai in 2010. I didn't know at the time that I was experiencing POST TRAUMATIC STRESS SYNDROME. They were of no help and stated I should see a counselor and not the police like I had wanted. The woman who came to my home actually rolled her eyes at me. She later called and spewed nothing but useless and constant verbiage about getting counseling. A few days later, I went to Community Memorial Hospital and waited over 8 hours for this pathetic team of evaluators to come see me. I had a brief conversation with some male doctor, then was told Northridge was coming. I was in EXTREME emotional pain perhaps due to the Arnold Palmer I had at lunch at Wood Ranch with the VC Police Dept or the 2 cups of ice water given to me in the ER by the Dr with dark framed glasses. I next had the pleasure of their incompetent and worthless team of 2 women evaluate me at Community Memorial Hospital after a car accident at my home Sept 18 2012 due to POST TRAUMATIC STRESS SYNDROME. I did not know this was the cause of my flashbacks and couldn't explain what I was going through. The long, curly dark haired Asian type girl kept asking me if I was hearing voices and I told her "no." I had blood drawn and urine tests and was there for over a few hours. I never displayed any type of unusual behavior and was concerned about my injuries. The same woman then said it was HER DISCRETION that she determined I was GRAVELY DISABLED. I was then told I HAD to go to VISTA. Check out the surveillance vidoes to determine what so called mental illness signs I exhbited especially when the crisis team leads you to try to admit you're hearing voices in your head. Since 2005 our tax dollars have been used to fund this type of so called IMPROVEMENTS to the mental health services in Ventura County??? WHAT KIND OF IDIOT IS DAVID HOLLINGER SWANSON??? Maybe someone named BETSY is furious about not receiving her SSI checks in a timely manner heats her up. Don't be late for the bus or she might throw a hissy fit!! Anyone ever evaluate THAT one??? What is he using the funds for? Certainly not to hire and train professionals who are knowledgeable and available to help victims report violent crimes or properly evaluate and screen patients for REAL mental illnesses that are threats to themselves and society. Until Ventura County can get their act together they shouldn't be entitled to treat any so called mental health patient without proper training. What an EXTREME waste of tax payers money and government funds.

A year ago, something happened that prompted me to seek a therapist. I didn't know how to even find…read moreone. I did a Google search and found a directory on a psychology website and compiled a list of four therapists who sounded promising. I sent them an email detailing my situation. Of the responses I received, I was overwhelmingly most excited about Ruth. Immediately, I liked her voice and her soft but not fake or patronizing demeanor. She offered a free phone consultation so that we could determine whether she was the right person to help me. Thank goodness she was! I visited Ruth once per week or twice per month for about six months. She put me at ease, was easy to work with and helped me enormously. Six months later, I am still seeing the benefits of our sessions. First, Ruth asked me to set goals for our sessions. She reminded me of these goals often to make sure that they were still relevant and that we were on track. Second, she took the time to learn enough about my background and history that she could make connections but not so much that we weren't still focused on the present. Third, she utilized a number of techniques, gave me homework and recommended books for further learning on my part. Overall, I found her to be very thoughtful and engaged. She responded often and kept detailed notes so that she was always on the same page as me. I also felt that she was very empathetic and understood me rather than analyzing me from afar. Although I have little experience with therapists, I venture to guess that she is in the top five percentile. There is nothing I would want to change and I can't recommend her highly enough.

So low, that I had basically given up any hope of being happy. I tend to be a bit stubborn, but from the beginning Ruth had an amazing way of being both firm and gentle in her guidance and suggestions. What I soon realized was that she was helping me recover my sense of purpose, sense of self and a willingness to believe in a future where I could be happy. A year after beginning therapy with her, I can honestly say I am happier than I have ever been in my entire life, and although it wasn't an easy process, it was a gentle one. Ruth is a truly gifted therapist and an incredible person. She is both creative and grounded. By providing me with insights into both my good and bad habits, practical exercises and solutions, and by her own personal example she taught me that I could be the same way. I will forever be grateful to her for leading me out of a very dark place into a life I truly enjoy every day. She has been a gift, and I highly recommend her for anyone who has lost their way and is struggling to get back to a path of hope, happiness and health.

I have had many therapist over the years. I I have left them quickly or stayed too long. I never got the help I needed. I was ready to give up when I met her. She has by far been my favorite and giving me new hope. I love that. Her office is very calming. She has a nice couch area. It's not sterile. It's comfortable. There's room to bring along other people if needed. It's private. The room isn't huge, just the right size. Her chair is very close by, but not too close. There's tissue if you need it. And it's professional, not too dark, but not so bright that you can't concentrate. Her demeanor is very caring, but she doesn't overstep her boundaries which I have had Therapists cry on my shoulders about their problems. That's another reason why I was giving up. I'm way too empathic for other people. And some of my therapist knew that and took advantage. They weren't bad people and they needed help themselves. When you go in to the offices, there is a waiting room with some chairs and a couch. There are magazines to read. There are a couple doors that are closed. And you just sit and wait for your therapist. Mine being Cathy, Montemayor. And I either read a magazine or my phone. She will come out either right at my appointments right before or a minute or two after usually as she's wrapping up with another client. The other office is for another therapist. When you walk into the main door, it will her name and the other therapist's name. It's all set up very nicely, comfortably, calmly, and non-threatening. You might sit in the room with another person, and that experience has always been pleasant.
