One of my favorite sights was seeing so many women working as butchers. Fun fact: Many butchers in France are women.
When you first walk in, it can feel a little overwhelming in the best possible way. There is so much to look at that you almost do not know where to begin. Despite the bustle, all of the local vendors were warm and welcoming, and the prices felt very fair for the quality offered.
During this visit, I picked up the following:
~ Lopez House -- 5/5 stars. I sampled one of their artisan tapenades and ended up purchasing a four-pack sampler because I could not decide which flavors I loved most.
~ Tielles Cianni Marcos -- 5/5 stars. I ordered the Tielle Sétoise, one of the local specialties that Sète is known for. This traditional pie, filled with octopus and spicy tomato sauce, was absolutely mouthwatering and deeply savory.
~ A spicy beef empanada from another stall that was equally delicious, although I unfortunately cannot remember the vendor's name.
After making your purchases, you can head to the back seating area to enjoy your food, or grab a table outside or near the vendors and relax with a glass of wine or a cup of café.
Whether you are looking for a quick bite or hoping to soak in the lively local atmosphere, this place is an absolute must-visit. It is wonderfully unpretentious, with a vibrant energy created by the passionate merchants proudly sharing their specialties with visitors.
