Bonfire was not the first choice for dinner last night. We were headed to another restaurant but that place had an hour and a half wait. We were hungry so we decided on Bonfire. When we arrived at Bonfire me and my date were the only ones there. I have no idea how long it had been open but it looked brand new. The atmosphere was very pleasant. I loved the lighting fixtures and the design of the seating area. There was also a dj that added to the atmosphere. Bonfire being a Jamaican restaurant I thought it apt to order the Jerk Chicken. You get 2 sides with the entree. I ordered the mac and cheese and french fries. My date got the catfish along with the potato salad and french fries. I was eager to dig in when the food came back. First off the fries were very crisp and fried to perfection. The mac and cheese was delicious. It was some of the best I've had at a restaurant in a long time. The jerk chicken was absolutely amazing. It came with the jerk sauce on the side. Honestly, I really didn't need it. The chicken had a delicious smoked flavor. It tasted like chicken you'd eat at a summer bbq. I can not say enough about the jerk chicken. I tasted the catfish my date ordered and it was really good too. I really would love to come back here and try more things. read more

The food here is very good and you'll get flavors that you just won't find elsewhere, but the price is ridiculous. They charge $4 for drinks like tea, and I had to ask for a refill despite it being obviously empty. I had jerk chicken ($16.75) and it was very flavorful and tender, but they hack up a leg and thigh with a cleaver so you have to pick through a lot of bone and there wasn't all that much meat. For the sides I had potato salad which looked like it came from a plastic tub at the grocery store, but the plantains were very good. Total of everything plus a drink and tip was over $26 - for lunch! Overall, I don't think it's worth the price. The inside was very nice and clean but the place was pretty empty at noon on a weekday. read more

Stumbled on this place while visiting Gulfport, and my goodness the food was a 20/20! Everything was fresh chicken was coming off the bone, rice n peas was perfect! I think they even have a drive thru. Service was great the vibes were nice n calm, granted a came on a Friday. Left me in a food coma for a while. Servings was Devine. Pretty decent meal. I didn't realize this place was here for the longest...I'd see building, but I do not know what I thought was on the other side. Although they seem like business is usually slow each time I go, but when I ask the question the response is we were really busy today. Food is good. This is one of my favorite restaurants now. Their food is so delicious and their restaurant is so unique. I just wish they had a better location but that won't stop me and my husband from getting food from here. Only item on the menu that was disappointing is the Jamaican patty. This place was really good! I got the chicken stew. So so flavorful. The sauce was a good consistency and texture. The chicken was bone in, mixed white and dark meat. Fall off the bone. The broccoli was super yummy also! Flavored just right with some spice. The coco bread was a huge disappointment. Don't get it. When you get it, it's super hot and soft. I had a piece of it and there was a super hard piece in it. Like it was still frozen but it wasn't. The festive bread is definitely my favorite. Has crunch and a sweetness to it. I also got their pineapple and ginger drink that they make. There is a lot of ginger so if you aren't a ginger fan, might not be for you. But it was so good!! I wanted to get a beef patty, a few to be exact, but they don't have any. Beef pattys ate my favorite ever. read more

I got everything to go but the restaurant was set up very nice as well. Jerk chicken - really good and flavorful, fall off the bone. The flavors were a great balance between mild and too hot. The sauce tasted like a typical bbq sauce Festivals- pretty good. My first time having them so I'm not sure if they are supposed to be that dense but the taste was good. Plantains- not very sweet but a good texture. I'd try them again. Mac and cheese- good southern style Mac and cheese, I don't know what a typical Jamaican style Mac and cheese is like but I expected nutmeg or spices. Great service (they accidentally served me Jerk Chicken instead of the Jerk Pork I had ordered, but I they had the Pork out to the table within two minutes). The ginger pineapple drink is the bomb.com!!! I love the brown see chicken with double cabbage. It never fails me. I order carry-out. So, I don't experience their full table service. Went there with my mother for lunch. This restaurant is very open and spacious. I ordered a Jamaican beef pie, it was flavorful. We went ahead and ordered our entrees and when it came out, the portions were pretty generous. My mother ordered the Oxtail stew and I ordered the Brown Stewed chicken. It came with two sides which we both got the rice & beans and cabbage along with cornbread. I tried hers and mine, both tons of flavor and you can taste the Jamaican spices. You can definitely share an entree between two people, that's for sure. read more

Went here to eat before a friend left for town. Ordered the hot wings for an appetizer and they were delicious and very SPICY! For dinner, I ordered the brown stewed chicken with rice and peas and the potato salad with a side of oxtail gravy for the rice. Everything was fantastic and flavorful as expected. The potato salad was some of the best I've had in awhile. Highly recommend eating here. The only con was that my food was very lukewarm, but that is easily fixable. read more

Bonfire is the a restaurant you keep coming back to so that you make sure you try all the dishes lol. That lemonade is just wonderful! You can tell it's fresh and packs flavor like no other lemonade I ever had. The food itself enough to feed more than 1 person! So needless to say you get your moneys worth. Curry chicken and flavorful and gives me that taste I desire when I am looking for a Caribbean meal. The rice and peas where exactly what they were nothing wowing about them but I love em either way. We ordered the fried fish, french fries and steamed broccoli. We also tried the jerk chicken , collard greens and and plantains. Great place to sit down and have a decent meal. From the entrance till the exit this place is a great hidden gem. The service was friendly, quick and welcoming.
