It's usually evident why dental clinics don't offer you the choice to bill before the appointment, because it's an opportunity to upsell. I was scheduled for an appointment, and on the same day, I was asked to come in early if I could. I did, thinking that maybe I might be able to finish my appointment a few minutes earlier. I didn't. As a matter of fact, and as is the case with any other dental office, my appointment started later than it could have. There were 2 admin people at the front desk, and one of them was training a new staff member - red flag. I later asked around to find out how long the 2 "more senior" admin staff had been there: less than a year! Same nonsense as every other dental office: admin staff are in & out like a turntable. No one seems to want to work at the front desk. I had a 30 min light cleaning (that's all the $128 cost covered), x-rays, and a few minutes checkup with the dentist who provided me with a care plan (even thought I specifically said I only wanted a cleaning). She didn't seem to care. In the past, I have only needed to provide specific details to bill my insurance plan, but in this case I was asked additional information. The admin staff claimed that it was necessary to bill the insurance provider. This is news to me. I've been using this insurance provider for over 10 years, without additonal information. In the end, the admin staff didn't seem to know how to deal with their computer software not being able to bill directly, and I had to pay out of pocket. Of course, the receptionist insisted on printing out the care plan that the dentist had mentioned earlier - for future visits (what?). I was concerned that I had to pay a bill that was a surprised to me, and all the staff seem to care about was getting repeat business. About 30 minutes after leaving the office, I get an automated text message asking if I had left the office with a smile....lol...(You're kidding me, right?). I answered "no" and the automated message indicated that a staff member would contact me to follow up regarding my text feedback. When I tried to text back, their text system indicated that it could not receive messages. I took the liberty to email them to let them know that they can't use me as a guinea pig for marketing purposes. All I want is for them to fix their billing problems. While the dental assistant seem to do a good job, I don't recommend this place because their admin staff were argumentative with me...comments like, "Do you want me to show you what my computer is saying? Your insurance is not accepting it because of lack of info!". Again, this has never happened to me elsewhere. I also didn't appreciate the sales pitch, from the dentist, the admin staff, and later the text message. In all honesty, I think dentists have a monopoly on this service because a lot of people have dental pain. This is going to encourage me to take better care of my teeth, because I'm not going back to this place, and if I go to another dentist then it will only be for a cleaning. read more
