A stone's throw from Les Halles, this bustling bistro offers up a variety of West African staples: from the Cameroonian ndole (a saute of meat, greens, and veggies) to Senegalese yassa (meat braised in onion and lemon) to Malian mafe (meat and veggies in a peanut street), you won't go wrong. I stepped in during their happy hour and nabbed a half-priced tapa (aloko d'Ivoirienne: pieces of fried and caramelized banana...tasting like a sweeter version of maduros), a discounted local Gallian lager, and a plate of thieboudienne (a Senegalese dish of fish, tomato, cabbage, and other veggies over rice). The food was fantastic, though service was a bit on the slow side. Definitely recommended if you're in the area

Had such a lovely experience here because of these folks. Tried several beers. We didn't know Guinness was also made in Cameroon. It's fabulous! Stop in! So we returned later that evening for dinner. I will let you know the food just as good as the picture looks. everythang SLAPPED! Literally my African roots jumped out after tasting everything on that plate. My partner wanted the Poulet DG (they were out) so he had the mafé. Both were very good, with huge portions (though it's a hard sell for me at 38€ a plate). We also ordered 2 sides of plantain. They were both undercooked, so they prepared an order for us to takeaway. We also tried the 2 rhum based drinks (I really liked the ginger one). Service: It was okay. Initially, someone came every 2 minutes to ask to take our order, which was too fast for me and felt a little commercial. Once our food came, no one came to check on us again. Ambiance: Overall, I love that this type of restaurant exists in an accessible part of Paris! It's more upscale than most you'll find in the city and is large and lively. Live music was a bonus and loved seeing couples, families, and people of all backgrounds. I wish they had put the AC on! It's clear this place is made by Africans for a wider audience; if not for the price, I'd go back again soon.

The decor in here is quite stunning. You really feel like you're in Morocco with the decorations. And it's also not even that loud, which is perfect for a nice intimate dinner. Had the Kefta with Moroccan Salad and Royal Pigeon Pastilla as starters, Lamb Tagine with Seasonal Fruits and Kefta Meatball Couscous for entrées, and the Selection of Moroccan Pastries as dessert. Portions were really good and everything was super tasty. Not the absolute best food I've ever had, but I was not disappointed. Staff here are quite friendly. Even though they don't all speak English, they are very nice and helpful. And yes, they do have English menus at least. Really enjoyed Essaouira, glad I made the trip here.

I've had home cooking from friends from Africa, but this is something quite different. I'd want to say it's more like African food with a French spin on it. The people were very nice and they all spoke enough English that if I got lost, I could switch to English. They also have an English menu, if you have trouble understanding their French one. I ordered the following for my Mom and myself: 1. Amuse-Bouches, 2. Salade croquante de mangue verte et crevettes, 3. Bacalhau fresco com pree de mandioca molho de maracuja e pimenta rosa 4. Bobo de camarao Dessert was: 1. Mousse de maracuja 2. Manjar I admit, I saw the bobo de camarao on Yelp and had to try it. I thought it was quite good. I think the lemon flavor in the Bacalhau fresco might have been a bit too strong a flavor for my Mom to enjoy fully, but she still liked the experience. I personally liked both the amuse-bouches and salade croquante, so I'd recommend trying those out when you're here. As for the dessert, we tried what the staff was eating at the bar between helping clients: the mousse de maracuja and one additional. But I think I really liked the mousse and how it was sweet and tart! I'd definitely suggest checking this place out if you're looking for a more upscale version of French fusion. I'm not familiar with this type of food as much (only had home cooking from friends), but Africa is a big place and Niébé was still a great experience!
