There are a surprising amount of restaurants in the seaside town of Broadstairs, but when doing our…read morerecce of the town on arrival, this one stood out as the place we wanted to eat. We popped in and booked our table immediately. I can imagine that this town is rammed in the summer, but in early March it's pretty quiet. I'm still glad we booked though as the restaurant was fairly busy. The menu changes every day and focuses on British dishes with locally sourced ingredients. Being right next to the shore, this meant fish all the way for me. We started with some homemade bread and both me and the other half went for scallops for starter - served with crisp pancetta and a chickpea puree. The dish was very tasty though a touch on the small side. For main course, I went for wild sea bass served with brown shrimp, spinach and pickled veg. The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection, the whole dish a great combination of flavours. The boyf went for duck which was also delicious. For dessert we ordered the almond and pear tart and a chocolate pudding with choc chip ice cream. Both were divine but I preferred the tart. The wine list was interesting and not excessive in price. We ordered a bottle of Tempranillo, and finished with a couple of glasses of port. The manager popped over to see if we were happy with our meals. Chatting with him, we found out that the restaurant had been open less than three weeks. Give or take a couple of minor service errors, the place was running extremely well for somewhere open so short a time. He had previously lived in Brighton and admitted that he had got some of his ideas for the restaurant from there - perhaps that's why it had such an affinity with us! As well as baking their own bread, they also butcher their own meat and smoke their own fish on the premises. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner are all served here. This was a real find for us, and for a business in their infancy, they are producing fine food and service. I wish them the best of luck for the future and would definitely return if we are ever in the area again.

We kicked things off with some home-made bread and I had a bottle of Green Daemon Helles. One of the breads was chocolate which came as an unexpectedly tasty surprise! For main the lady had sea bass which she said was fantastic, and I had the root vegetable Pan Haggerty - something completely new to me and rather delicious. The chips were SERIOUS chips with masses of crunch and plenty of heft. It is quite expensive in the grand scheme of things, with our lunch bill for 2 coming to over £50 including service - this is not London, lest we forget. Definitely worth checking out if/when in Broadstairs, with a great selection of food and booze on the menu.

Superb food in delightful surroundings and at honest prices! and worth Michelin stars…read more... A last minute impulse led us to join my son and his partner at the Alexandra Ristorante in Ramsgate, for our 31st December 2017 late dinner. And what a surprise was in store for us all as none of us had been there before. Our new-year's dinner turned out to be our best 2017 restaurant experience and the best Italian restaurant we have been to, over the past 30 years! What a find indeed... Although late for our 21:30 table, we were very warmly welcomed in the Alexandra Ristorante delightful and spoteless surroundings. We savoured every bite and minute we had until we left at 23:45. The setting was perfect for our New-Year's eve celebration: a homely environment, in the heart of Ramsgate harbour. The Alexandra Ristorante building is indeed unique. The tables are tastily set, in a welcoming and stylish simplicity.. Quiet music provided a pleasant background to our family get-together. The perfect Italian atmosphere oozing peaceful charm... As for the food... well as a French accomplished cook myself, I like the best and I was not disappointed... The menu offered a wide variety of options, including a good range of delicious vegeterian dishes. Our food was served with care by the owners who clearly take great delight in pleasing their guests and much pride in preparing the best of Italian traditional food. Every dish we picked was exquisitely presented, in generous portions, home-made with fresh and high-quality ingredients, and so so so tasty!!! Italian food at its best.... All dishes were very reasonably priced and our three-course New-Year's eve meals with drinks cost us just under £25 per person. Very well done John: your food is scrumptious and your prices are honest!!! A big thank you to you, family and staff for making our late New Year's eve a really unexpected treat, despite Ramsgate Harbour fireworks being cancelled due to strong winds... We left your restaurant into the wet and cold seaside air, with a warm heart and happy tummies! We will definitely be back in 2018 with family and friends to enjoy your special food, drinks and surroundings!

The food was poor (in our quite experienced opinion having eaten in many 3 M Star restaurants worldwide); and considering what we were expecting. They allude to some Michelin association or recommendation but we could not find any. The dishes were over described in culinary wordplay in order to make you think something classy is coming out. The servers were surly and slow even though there was almost no-one in there. We posted a review on trip Advisor and the Owner was somehow able to go on there and make a response in the form of a total character assassination! We found half the dishes were some cheap version of what most standard Tapas restaurants would be serving which they served up as their take on it but few mini kebanos on grey watery mashed potatoes did not cut it for us. the wine was stupid money as well -give it a wide berth and head across to the Italian any day of the week

Make a reservation. There's only 5 tables & ~6 bar stools (the bar is open seating). We see a lot of walk ins when we're there. Only the very early & very late ones get in. Pricing is very fair.
