This branch of the LFPL is a solid addition. It is always kept up nice. The Librarians have always been very helpful, and do a great job of keeping all of the resources stocked away neatly. I have never used it, but do know that they have a large meeting room space available. They have plenty of computers on hand for the public to use, so you never have to wait long. I love how they have it broken up into the 3 separate areas child, Teen, and adult. The Newest feature is "The Loft" as they call it. It is the Glass enclosed Teen Center upstairs. It has new touchscreen computers, contemporary seating and lots of materials just for teens. It provides a great space for students to read, study, and learn. One great addition is the programming that they offer from playing movies, Storytimes for all ages, GED Classes, and musical/drama performances.

I am an avid and passionate library patron and have been exploring more than my home branch, as my…read morepreferred library location is under ongoing construction (finish any time now, plzandthankyouuuu). The St. Matthews branch is close to a couple of my dogsitting clients and in the area of where my choir usually rehearses every week. Things I appreciate: The ample parking lot. The seating and reading spots and places. It is bright and modern. Things I don't love: Why doesn't my data on my phone work when I am inside this building? Why don't apps work or load well on my phone when I am on the library wifi in the building? Why won't my computer connect to the internet when I have connected to the library wifi? If I am here to just pick up some holds or to sit and read, its a-ok. If I am here to work on things...I can't understand why the wifi kills my devices' ability to function OR why I can't seem to get my data and hotspot to work inside this building, even sitting next to an entire wall of windows, not even deep in the building. That has been frustrating on several visits. Still...READ A BOOK y'all.

I go in and I don't see the Passports for Books and Brews, one of the librarians actually had to go get it for me, I also asked kindly for stamp and received one. It accidentally bleed through (the stamp) she was kind enough to offer another one but, I told her it was ok no need. I do like this library but, I may go here just because it's close to work.

The kids section is such a fun, cozy spot. My kids love to grab some books and play in the little castle in the back corner. It was also a nice place to bring the kids when they were younger and maybe weren't quiet enough for the rest of the library. The small tables near the front windows also have some coloring pages. The kids section especially has a great collection, and I also appreciate how the hold shelves are right by the front doors. I usually reserve my books ahead of time, and then come here to pick them up. The whole visit takes less than five minutes. This branch has some community rooms in the basement. We've gone to storytime a few times down there. And it's just a beautiful little spot! Parking is easily accessible, and the staff are always helpful and delightful. This branch is such a gem!

It was time to try out the Crescent Hill Branch! It is inviting looking...like it LOOKS like an older library. Charming as heck. Inside feels a little cramped, like there aren't a lot of stacks. But I don't actually do a lot of browsing at libraries, I mostly pick up holds and do work or read. I did enjoy the reading room on the first floor here. It was a bit loud. Like I know a library isn't totally silent, but it was surprisingly noisy during my time there. I did get there as school was letting out and there is a school on the same block, but I don't think it was that. I think the building allows things to echo and amplify. I really like that they have a parking lot. A big boon to patrons! I will absolutely be back to this branch at some point, at least until the main branch reopens. But it is well-situated and welcoming.

There is a decent sized parking lot but for that Books and Brews sale it was not nearly adequate. But for daily use, and for the author event, it was plenty ample to handle the patrons. It is clean and modern looking, bright and large and spacious inside. The back room that hosted the book sale and the author event is big enough for special events and has a wall of windows that give a pleasing view of greenery and plants outside. Makes you feel like you are in the middle of the forest. Staff at every LFPL branch are kind and welcoming. I can only assume I will be back here again soon enough, and you should pay them a visit too.

The exterior is futuristic, definitely not giving the vibes of a stuffy library. And the kids space really impressed me. The shelves are shorter, easier for little hands to grab books and there are all sorts of kid-size reading nooks to climb into. That is one thing that really stood out -- smaller spaces carved into the large indoor area of this library. Even with a horde of children running around, I saw several adults able to find spots to quietly enjoy a book. Parking may be a bit of a challenge for big events; we had to park across the street at the Target. But on normal days I bet the lot is easy to access. What a jewel of a space!

I had a two hour gap in my schedule so I took my laptop inside and grabbed a comfortable chair. One item that's lacking are available outlets. I'm sure there are a few places to plug in but I didn't find an obvious one near the chairs. The library has one side for younger visitors and readers, along with a small play area. The other side offers a teen area with comfy chairs and several computers. My teen games there periodically with friends after school. In between is a small selection of library books, both fiction and non, plus movie rentals. Workers sit at a couple of desks and I watched them help several visitors and callers. Bulletin boards share flyers for upcoming events. Great for work or reading; however, it's a smaller space so understand you're going to hear kids, conversations and more. If this activity would distract you, you might pick another library. Private parking lot. Very welcoming to nearby students - much appreciated when other businesses shut them out.

But, I love it! It has plenty to offer. True, there are no aisles and aisles of children's books so you can browse through them and pick what you like. But, if you want a particular book, you can request it from any branch and pick it up here. True, they might not host the polar express pj party, but they have regular story times, they host sticker parties and many more. Sure, it don't boast of huge play/activity areas but they have a cute little nook with the cutest ladder that the littles love to climb. They have book sales pretty regularly. The checkout is easy. There are computers you can use. I believe it has a meeting room too. The biggest advantage of this library is its location. When they closed it for around a year, the nearest library to the east end was the new Northeast. That's a good half hour drive from where we live. So, I'm really glad we have one right here in Middletown!
