I'm a woman in my late twenties who has lived in LA for almost a decade - you can imagine how many salons and stylists I've seen. Finally I've found my go-to girl and my go-to salon! Bombshell, although located right on Main Street in Santa Monica, is truly a hidden gem - tucked away in a cul de sac with Brick and Mortar and Peet's coffee, you definitely have to know it's there to walk in. The salon is pristine, prices high but not outrageous, the owner is super involved (literally always there and a stylist himself), there is a friendly receptionist and best of all, only the best employees work there. Sara Fetter is my #1 - she is soft spoken, smart, kind, and funky - all traits that shine through in her work! She cuts hair patiently and precisely and has cracked the code on my frizzy previously unmanageable hair. I trust her completely and my hair never looks less than amazing - plus her cuts grow out so nicely. Anyway....I'm so happy to finally have found my hair place! I definitely recommend it! I've been looking for a new hair stylist for a while and coincidentally walked by a promo sign for new clients for Bomb Shell Salon. I went inside to check it out and was immediately impressed by the beautiful salon - very clean style. I was promptly greeted by Eric, who owns Bomb Shell, and cut my hair. In the past, I have always been really picky about hairstylists and my haircuts in general, but Eric knew exactly what I wanted. This is the first salon I've found on the westside that checks all the boxes: price for the quality of service was on point, everyone was so friendly and clearly happy to be there, and I walked away feeling amazing. Tree was confident and made me feel so at ease, especially considering that I wanted to cut my hair quite short. Bridget Lopez is a color genius - and I love her cuts too. Not only do I love my natural color and get lots of compliments but she is delightful to chat with. Coming from NYC I had a lot of trouble finding someone who I trust completely. I also have a white streak that I've had my whole life and she has blended it like only one person has in my life. It was time for a haircut. Danielle at Bombshell had cut my hair once before and it was fine. Expensive, but fine. I assumed Danielle was following her original cut, but when I left the salon I found that there was no way for me to style my hair that seemed to work. After a couple of weeks I began to realize the cut that was bad and so I called the salon and asked them what to do. They made an appointment for me with the store owner Eric who is a color specialist who also does cuts. When I arrived I brought video of me with the bad cut. Eric's focus was on not "blaming" anyone at his salon, though he repeatedly tried to blame me. While looking at my hair he admitted "I can't seem to find the line of the cut" and yet somehow he claimed that was my hair's fault. He told me my hair was frizzy (it is, curly and frizzy) and he was going to give me a treatment (some conditioner). While his hands were in my hair and I was in the sink he tried once again to deflect blame from Danielle and I replied "my hair was fine before I came in, but after I came in I can't style it, who's fault is it then?" He leaned over me in the sink and In a threatening way and said "there's no need to be abusive." I was not being abusive I was responding to what he had said and then I decided the best option was to just not say anything to him and get through this as quickly as possible. Back at his station he used four different products and every blow drying trick he could to dry my hair. Even after all of his efforts, there was a distinct section of my hair that did not appear to match the rest of the cut, once again he blamed it on my hair and claimed there was nothing he could do to trim my hair or fix it. He did take an extra moment to make a negative comment about my color. I told him that I would not be able to blow dry my hair the way that he had done and he became very upset and said "Then maybe you shouldn't come back" and I replied "obviously I'm not going to come back to this salon." He said "Fuck you" - This was the first time swearing was introduced into the disagreement. I replied "fuck you." This is the point at which Eric tried to make the argument into a physical altercation. He told me to get my stuff and get out and I went to the back to get my sweater, came to the front and my things were gone, Eric was holding them. My items included my coat and my gloves. I reached for the coat, but he pulled back holding it out of my reach. I was able to wrestle it out of his hands. He held onto my gloves and then threw them on the floor. I asked "I'm a woman, are you trying to make this into a physical fight?" At this point Eric reached over to me the way that men do when they poke each other on the chest before a fistfight. Instead of poking me he turned his hand upside down and he flicked me on my chest touching above my left breast and below the collarbone. I was absolutely stunned. I reached down to pick up my gloves, but Eric got them first and again held them out of my reach. Eventually throwing them on the floor one more time I picked them up and let him know I would be calling the police. read more

I came on a whim after seeing a new client special sign, figuring $49 for a wash/cut/blow-dry...what's the worst thing that could happen ... let it grow a couple weeks and get it cut again. The owner was very friendly and told me that the special rate applied to his more junior stylist, Lisa (I didn't actually inquire as to how much experience she had). Since my first visit, many months ago, Lisa has cut my hair twice and colored it once, making my shoulder-length, super-fine hair look great. Her cut is precise, with no little stragglers. By far the best place I've ever been to! Mom and girlfriend get their hair done here as well and BombSHELL always takes great care of us. My girlfriend loves what Bernard does with her hair and Eric has never failed to give me EXACTLY what I want when I go in... Even when I can't verbalize it clearly he still manages to pull something awesome out of my hair with cuts and colors. The salon itself is super relaxing with local artist's work covering the walls, great products on their shelves, and good vibes all around from the staff. They've got parking validation and Peet's coffee is literally a few steps from the door so I can always get something while I'm waiting for my color to set, or for a cut. What I love most is I'm always greeted warmly and made very comfortable every time I come and always leave lovin with my hair and feeling great. Came here for the first time on Thursday and met with Tree. I booked my appointment through Yelp and received a reply in less than 3 hours. So convenient and helpful when you don't have time to call. I had to reschedule and this was done fast as well. +++++ Tree was so nice and attentive to my concerns and requests. I was only there for a haircut but I hadn't cut my hair for over 6 months so it was a mess. I was worried that she would have to cut off too much to make it look nice again (as I'm trying to save out my hair) but Tree made it look so nice and healthy without cutting too much. I normally get my hair done in Sweden and always at the same place, so it was important that I met someone who really listened and also knew that she was doing - this was definitely Tree! She was so friendly and made me feel safe. I walked out feeling super satisfied with my haircut and I'm definitely going to come back soon to balayage my hair. Yes, this place is a bit pricey and I was hesitant as first as I've never paid that much for a haircut but they wash and blow-dry your hair and I'm very willing to pay extra $$$$ to walk out feeling like a hair model which is what I did. Selena listened to my vision and walked me through the process with very realistic expectations, always trying to work with my natural hair color and complexion. I couldn't believe the change! Selena did a super special color correction and totally nailed the hair style I was going for!! In April I came in for a cut, and was happy. I came back a couple of weeks ago, and this time, my hair was completely ruined. I went to the same stylist who cut my hair previously, and showed her at least 7 photos of how she cut my hair last time. I asked for exactly the same cut - long textured and layered bangs. What I came out with is basically bowl cut bangs and totally unblended layers, and way more cut off than I specifically asked for. While I did receive a full refund, I will not be able to have the haircut fixed until it grows out. My bangs are now so short, and not blended at all that it will be months before they grow out. Absolutely devastated to now have to wear a hat all summer to hide this butcher job. read more

Just saw Sarah yesterday for a cut and highlight. She was thorough and even did a 10 minute consultation the week before which was nice since I was new. I had asked my fiancé to cut my hair...wait for it ::long pause::...I KNOW!! What was I thinking right?! I needed at LEAST a trim and he was right here, so I said why not?! In a nutshell: my hair looks great but I was blindsided by the price. They quoted me $180 over the phone for a partial highlight. When they rung me up, they charged me the $180 for the highlight....PLUS $75 for gloss and $45 for a blow dry. With tip it was $345. That's insane. I have a short pixie haircut. Charging $50 to blow that out, after I've paid a lot of money for a color service, without telling me or asking if I even wanted a blow-dry is a ripoff. Plus the stylist didn't know how to style short hair and it looked bad. If you're going to double the cost of someone's service you should probably give them a heads up. Props to the stylist because the color does look amazing, but she doesn't work there anymore. read more

So bad it defies logic. Talk about "trendy" without an ounce of substance. Both my daughter and I went in early December and after being charged over $1,000.00 (combined), we were both terribly disappointed. The hair cuts were ok, but both of our color washed out in a few weeks. My color (which was supposed to be balayage) was so bad my recent stylist said "if your hair was done in early December, why is it so washed out?" Its a trendy place without substance. Oh and by the way, they offered a redo, but then took it back and said they would only do a "conditioning treatment" at no cost, not only do they provide bad hair care, they are bad people. read more

Bernard is a hair genius! I am so happy he came to BombShell Salon because the place is fantastic! First point- the hair salon is adorable... second- they validate for the parking lot, which makes parking a breeze! Third-there's a Peet's coffee and a Ben and Jerry's next door... so whatever you fancy, it's right there and you can sip on your latte or milkshake while having Bernard make you look like a movie star! LOVE IT! Seriously, Bernard knows hair. I followed him from his previous place and he did not disappoint! I went in with dreary "blah" hair and came out with a cut I love and a style that screams "Va va voom!" Bernard is a hair expert when it comes to thick wavy hair- he always manages to turn my hair into something worthy of a night out! He is so nice, very professional and completely the kind of guy you want to trust your hair with. I would be floored if someone came out of Bernard's chair not loving his work! If you're a new client they are offering a $45 special - which is insane considering the quality of the cut you're going to get. Who wouldn't love a discount on a fabulous haircut? That's like $10 bucks more than just having DryBar blow out your hair! This salon is wonderful, I have nothing but the very best things to say about both the salon and Bernard! I was wondering why they named it BombShell... but now I know why. Because when you walk out of there you feel like one! I would give this place a zero if I could! I had a bad haircut experience with them and at first I wasn't not even too upset because the hair dresser is a nice person. I need to mention, this is my first time ever to complain about a haircut or felt the need to get it fixed so badly. Which I did somewhere else. They were able to fix the problems and I was able to feel good about my hair again. Some of you may know how horrible and sensitive it is to get a bad haircut right! Since I had to spend more time and money for another haircut, I called bomb shell to request a refund. I tried to be nice about it because I didn't want to judge by just one haircut. But the owner didn't feel that they should give a refund. His reasoning was that I should have gone back and let them fix the hair cut. Everyone, please try to relate with me. If you took your car somewhere for a paint job and did a horrible job, would you go back to them and have then paint it again? So of course I was not comfortable or confident to go back to get it fixed. They did not offer a refund or even partial refund, and I will never be going back there again. It matched the pictures I brought exactly and even though it's a bit pricey I feel it's totally worth it. My sister also has Tree do her hair and she raves about her too.
