Highlight from our wedding! Please book with them!…read more We had this crazy idea to perform at our wedding...and thought Bollywood would be a great way to engage the guests at our half Caucasian/half Indian wedding. Who needs to hire extra performers ;) ? After doing a little research for local dance studios, First Dance Vancouver caught my eye. I went through their website, watched some of their videos and got excited. I reached out to Delphine to share our vision - a Bollywood mashup, integrating our wedding party...sure enough, she had an instructor ready and dates lined up for us. We purchased the large wedding package - and ended up purchasing more classes as we were having so much fun and wanted to learn more. My husband was really hesitant at first, but after our first class he was really impressed and ready to take on the challenge. Karima was such an amazing instructor, she was patient, welcoming, experienced, and full of energy. She broke down the steps, recorded videos, mixed our two songs seamlessly - and provided lots of encouragement! As beginner dancers to Bollywood, of course there were challenging times - but the more we practiced the better we both felt. Karima went at a pace that was suitable for us, and ensured that we felt confident leading up to our big day. We felt like stars in Karima's and Delphine's eyes. I really think this experienced helped bring my husband and I together even more. I highly recommend working with First Dance Vancouver as you will have complete dedication and genuine service. I can't think of another wedding vendor who went as over and above as this team. Forever thankful for this experience - and I really hope you take the plunge and learn to dance with First Dance Vancouver. You will not regret it.

Her confidence in us was contagious and really helped us to get the steps down and then to have fun with it too! The choreography also matched our personalities and relationship beautifully. The classes were so much fun that we are hoping to take dance classes permanently now. Learning the routine really connected us in a way that we hadn't before. The whole experience was so refreshing and exciting. I would recommend Delphine to everyone who wants to do something special for their first dance!! She's such a lovely person who will have the faith in you that you need to do the beautiful routine she creates for your special day!! :D

The Ting Tings have crossed Vancouver a few times, however, for one reason or another I never made…read moreit to any of their shows either 'cause of finances, school, been out of town and or it was under advertised. When my good friend Scott won tickets and invited me as his plus one I was naturally excited to get this band off my bucket list. The show started and ended early which allowed me to explore my other endeavors on a Saturday night. The band has 3 albums under their belt, therefore, there was no excuse as to why they couldn't have played a full 90 minutes. The good thing about the hour set is that they had performance conservation which helped their enthusiasm during the show. Normally I roll my eyes at the cheap lighting provided by Venue, however, in this case it worked in the band's favor. It was one of those little goes a long way moments. The weight of the show was carried by Katie White & Jules De Martino. Both their energy was easily mimicked by those in the audience. The set list contained 4 of their biggest hits and a good portion of new material. The new material is more dancer than their previous indie rock albums. The new direction took some casual fans by surprise. The veterans, who have been aware of the game plan for some time, ate the beats like a dance buffet. The departure in sound was heavily contributed by Duran Duran's Andy Taylor who produced the new album Super Critical. Andy wasn't shy about putting his musical heritage prints all over the tracks. The show was very under sold and advertised but was filled by a lot of dance moves including contributions in the foot work department by yours truly. Katie's vocals aren't power house vocals but more like dance hall statements. The personality is carried by a collective energy. Regardless of whether you want to participate or not, the minute she walked out on stage and danced to the beat of her own drum, everyone was automatically sucked in. I got to hear my favorite song, Hands, performed live. The song already hand a dance beat to begin with, however, the over remixing was cool for the first 3 minutes. I felt as though I was in the dance tent of Coachella 2010. After the 3 minute mark they were doing more remix beats and less lyrical content which got annoying. Aside from Hands, the rest of the set was performed as originally recorded.
