I visited this cigar lounge for the first time today. I wanted to come here in 2020 but didn't make it. I walked down from the hotel and saw a small humidor. They have some of the usual suspects but I was super happy to see that they had a house blend. I am a boutique smoker so house sticks always interest me. I paid the $50 daily membership fee.....yes $50. I was led into the smokers lounge and was quite happy. I don't like loud and busy lounges. They had smooth jazz playing in the background and the room was dimly lit. It was heaven for me :). The owner promptly brought me an Expresso and a bottle water. I sat there for about 3 hours and smoked the cigars I brought with me. I think the daily membership fee is a little high but I didn't mind spending it. That fee is high enough to keep trash out of the lounge and created a great smoking experience. All in all I'll rate this spot a 4/5. Looking forward to going back on Friday. read more

I've been to a handful of cigar shops and never experienced what I did today at Bolivar. The guy tells me the lounge is private but I can buy a cigar. I go in the humidor room and he comes right behind me and opens the door wide open and stands in the doorway without saying a word. I've never seen a humidor room with the door left wide open and the staffer standing in the doorway. I couldn't help but feel like he suspected that I might steal. Nothing about my profile or attire should have given him that impression. If that's not what he was thinking I don't know if any other reason he would do that. I told him that I won't be treated like a criminal and walked out. He said he just wanted to answer any questions. Went into this place and was initially excited to see a cigar venue downtown. I walked in, and not sure if it was the manager or owner, but they were exceptionally rude for no reason. I simply inquired about the place and membership, and then he went on a diatribe and started to yell for no reason. He insinuated that I can not afford it. I told him money was not an issue and was trying to calm him down. Then, I stated that even if I bought a membership, I may not be allowed because I cannot "dedicate time" to his place. I simply walked out because either he was a terrible human being or the latter just having a bad day. Regardless, it is not a place that I recommend to anyone. This place has it all! A nice cigar humidor, accessories and a private lounge where you can smoke and relax. As a matter of fact, this is the ONLY place where you can do this in downtown Austin. I was in town for a healthcare conference and decided to visit this cigar lounge because it was connected to the hotel I was staying at and was recommended by the concierge at the hotel. Once we got to the door we were blocked from entering the lounge. I told the gentleman blocking the door concierge called and made reservations for us. He advised us they were about to close and that it would be a fee $50 to enter. We assured him the $50 cover was no issue but we were not advised they were closing at 7 PM. I found this to be odd since concierge had made the reservation and did not let us know they would be closing. I also took a quick look at the hours on the door and it said they closed at midnight. He very rudely said we would only have 30 minutes to have a cigar and drink. I reassured him it would be fine. Even with the restrictions in place, he still wouldn't allow for us to come in but would never give us a reason why. I took a peek in the room he was blocking and he became agitated with me. I reassured him for the third time we were OK with paying the cover and we were OK with only being allowed 30 minutes he stood in the doorway and would not move and did not respond to me at all. We took the subtle hint that he didn't want people that look like us in the building. Please do not visit the cigar lounge they are very discriminatory and racist. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I stayed at the 4 seasons for a week in Austin and was in search of a good cigar shop. Somewhere with a good selection and a comfortable place to sit, smoke, and maybe strike up a good conversation. This place was not what I was looking for. The selection was horrible, I settled for a Rocky Patel. I was helped by this shady Arab guy (store owner) who seemed like he had ulterior motives. So after I purchased the cigar I attempted to sit in the cigar lounge; he told me I would have to pay him 100.00 to sit and smoke the cigar I had just purchased from him. I replied "100.00 bux to sit for 30 minutes?" He replied "for you a special price, $50.00 and I'll throw in a drink or two." I decided to get out of there while I could. I asked him for matches and he handed me some random Bic lighter and said he didn't have any matches. Really??? Never go here!!! read more

The cigar selection was fine, and if somewhat overpriced, no more than expected in downtown Austin. The poor review is due more to the manner in which I was treated. When I entered I stated that I would be looking in the humidor to compare. The (manager? Owner?) told me that they do not compare and likened themselves to a luxury car brand. We entered the humidor and he stated that they had flourished "in this stupid city." I said I rather liked the city, but asked how much a membership in the lounge would cost. The manager responded by asking how much I could afford. I found this rude, wished him a good evening, and left without making a purchase. First, let me say that - they need a franchise in Las Vegas! Really. I was in Austin for business a few weeks ago. I have 1 friend in TX and she lives in Austin. Win-Win - Met up at the Four Season for drinks in the lobby bar.with Tiko & her husband. It was then I found out it was his birthday. I know he is a cigar aficionado and whiskey drinker. I had passed a smoke shop on my way in so I excused myself and waddled over. (yes I am still a chubby chick) I could have spent hours in there. The owner, Charlie was there and he was so nice and knowledgeable. I asked him what was a good gifting cigar and he suggested a 5 pack of their house brand. He said it's a very smooth smoke if I wanted to try one in their lounge. I told him we were in the bar next door etc. He said to come back later he'd hook us up. Wrapped up my purchase for me so it looked festive. Gave Dan the cigars, he was thrilled. We finished our cocktails and went back to shop. Let me just say the lounge was very cool. Nice jazz playing, comfortable seats. lots of eye candy, girls if you get my drift. No seriously, Women of Austin, if you want a nice guy who is smart witty and funny without the overarching - "we're in a bar scenario" - learn to smoke a stogie. appreciate a nice tea and some jazz. you will not be sorry. As far as service goes, if you don't smoke the owners brand, be prepared to be told your tastes aren't sophisticated. Went in Saturday aft in shorts and flip-flops and the owner (I think his name is Charles or Charlie) could not have been nicer, invited us into the lounge which is very nicely appointed and maintained with 3 or 4 big flat screens. Offered us a free bottle of water or a Coke. Yes, the humidor is small but I wasn't looking to buy 50 cigars-- just one good one. Mission accomplished. Very pleasant place.
