"Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns and Roses. Yes but it's the real jungle lol. The trek getting to this place from Cagayan De Oro, Which is a major metropolis in North Mindanao Island was something else. We were hosted by our 2 cousins who came with their 4z4 pickup trucks. The trek took us to many small towns, some look very run down and we climb up the mountain as well. Once on the top, we turned into a steep winding turns to reach our destination. It's in a small valley between heavily vegetated mountain tops.
Once we got our pass and cottage assigned to us we walked down a medium steep hill and walked through the hanging bridge ala Indiana Jones's style lol. It was not a high bridge crossing the Cagayan river so the fear factor was minimal, nevertheless my sisters still hanged on their dear life lol .
Once we crossed, we were met by the driver to to take aid a few meters up the hill in a rocky dirt road deep in the jungle. Once we got to this place called the Balao Cold springs , was met with the beauty of how the cottages at its simple form surrounded the pool of fresh cold clean spring water. There were falls everywhere that fed to this creek / river that eventually dump into the main Cagayan river . I felt like we were hidden , isolated from the crazy world and at the same time wondering if there's any guerilla outfits ready to take over the resort LOL watching too many war movies. Anyway, the water felt great , although it rained , it still was worth the visit. read more
