This salon (and Mary Claire specifically) came highly recommended to me by my best friend who had recently had a very positive experience with her cut and color. She is very particular about her look, so I knew if she was pleased this place was the real deal. Before taking the plunge I went in for a consultation with MC to discuss what exactly I was looking for. I shared a couple concept photos with her, and we were able to agree on a plan. I was nervous when I requested a Saturday appointment that MC would be booked out forever. Luckily I was able to book her for the following Saturday. As soon as you enter the salon they offer coffee, mimosas, and water to all their clients which is a nice perk! I definitely took advantage of the coffee, and the girl at the front desk made it to perfection!MC mentioned ahead of time that she estimated the process would take about 5 hours. She's really cool, so we didn't struggle to find things in common to talk about and the time flew by. She even finished 30 minutes earlier than she anticipated! The entire process included a balayage, root melt, steel toner, wash, style, and a haircut. My favorite part was when MC shampooed my hair after applying all the color. It was like a luxurious scalp massage, and I could have fallen asleep! I also enjoyed how she gave me a little photo shoot at the end to show off her work. Overall, I was very pleased with how well MC brought my vision to life. She took her time, and it really showed in the finished product. This is my second time getting my hair done at this Downtown GSO hair salon with Mary Claire. On my first visit I just did a cut, but this time decided to get a trim and some all over color. I have wanted a black cherry/mulberry purple-ish color for a while, it's edgy but also still work appropriate. I few previous stylists I have seen tried but didn't really achieve the look I wanted. Mary Claire nailed it! I had heard color was her specialty and I now know why. It's the perfect mix of noticeable and subtle and really pops in the sunlight. She also did a great job cleaning up my short bob and undercut. Highly recommend her for your next look! Also, this salon is taking safety protocols very seriously. Everyone wears a mask, hand sanitizer is available, digital payment and receipt options, and the stations are marked after they have been sanitized. I love going to this salon every time I need a touch up or fun new color. Every single person that works here goes above and beyond. My first impression was when I called the salon over a year ago and how friendly the front desk lady was. I was even more surprised when I walked in and saw how cute of an atmosphere it is here. Everyone greets you when you walk through the door with a happy, genuine smile. I swear they are the nicest people I've encountered at a salon. You can definitely tell that they all have a work-family relationship with each other. I personally go to Emma and she is SO talented and knows exactly what I'm looking for. I mean it looks like they do great work but I went in for a consultation from going dark black/red curly to blonde, I was willing to pay the $350-$380 for my hair but at my consultation she took two of my hair strands in the back and put bleach or "lightener" on it and she was like we're gonna have to cut a few inches off which I totally expected I have colored long hair but was also told I need a k18 treatment I believe and so she wanted to do the treatment and cut first and I was like yeah of course so I booked the appointment and I just thought to look later at the prices and I messaged her on Instagram and told her I would not be able to do the cut/treatment price on top of the color process, so I asked if I could get my haircut and treated somewhere else cheaper and then come back and give you THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY DOLLARS & I was given the response "It's only $70 for the cut and treatment" it just made me realize how out of touch with reality that salon must be to think $70 is cheap, I can't spend $450+ on my hair and though there are ":)" everywhere it just felt very passive aggressive my hair is to my a** it doesn't need more time to grow out and those blonde pieces are still in my hair just the whole situation felt so passive aggressive honestly that's all I can say I'm updating my review again to say I assume that everybody there is passive aggressive by just the response from the business owner, it doesn't matter about how inexpensive the color and cut was I could've done it somewhere else and given you 350+ dollars once again how out of touch with reality do you have to be to make that response, i've never seen a business owner have worse Communication than the actual person working there. I did let you know I text her and told her that I could not afford it and that I would be happy to go somewhere else and come back but that's not what I was given I was getting a passive aggressive answer just like I was given a passive aggressive answer by you the business owner you should be ashamed of yourself. This place gave me the WORST service I have ever received from a business. This goes for the quality of the work as well as the attitude of the people who work/own Boho Salon. I wanted to go back to my brown natural color with dimensional highlights and left with hair that's half brown half blonde (shown in pics). I messaged my stylist Emma requesting a refund and after going back and forth I spoke with the owner, Melissa. We agreed on a partial refund. They did offer a corrective service but I declined as I did not feel comfortable allowing this salon to touch my hair again. Emma also refused to refund her tip and only offered to return it if I deleted photos of my hair which I posted to Instagram. A week after Melissa confirming my refund had been issued I still had not received it. I reached back out to her and she was very rude and went as far as to call me yelling because I told her I would be leaving a review. She threatened to "drag me out of the salon" and call the police if I ever showed my face there again (why would I want to?). The phone conversation was extensive and the worst display of unprofessionalism I have ever experienced. She claimed if I left a review she would leave bad reviews on my business and called broke, childish, a karen, etc. She ended it by saying if I kept up she would reverse my refund. After the call she went to my social media, found a video of me at the pool, and texted me screenshots of it. The video was a draft not taken the day it was posted but that's beside the point. This morning after i checked my receipt, refund is no longer there. I would never recommend giving these people your business or trusting them to do your hair, it has been a horrible experience which put me out a lot of money just for horrible results and service. read more

I forced my lady to get her hair done when she didn't want to use my money even though it was a gift. They did it all wrong. First pic was original second was supposed to be done third is what we gotThen when I finally talked to my women to going back I got allot of attitude from Mellisa on the phone. I had made an original review on this place but then was told I'd only get my refund back if I took down the review even tho I had every intention on remaking it to look better but I finally got my refund after a week so here we go. They will try and extort you of your money to keep their ratings high rather than except the truth they made a mistake and learn from it. This was a overwhelming annoying experience that I wouldn't ask on anyone. If she wouldn't have copped an attitude and just refund me my money with out a threat I would have moved it up to 3 stars but it's to late. Please be weary with this business. I firmly believe it has a high score only because they feel they can threaten you with your money. Have A Good Day. Now she's calling and threatening to retake the refund because of her own actions and finds it professional to call people idiots. Plus it wasn't even a full refund, was still missing about $60 but that's no big deal. As long as everyone knows what's going on. If there anymore threats I'll be sure to let everyone know. New pictures shows apparently it's legal to steal money. Didn't think a whole business would need $200 that bad. Must be struggling pretty hard. Stuff like this could be part of the cause. Not going back! I'm only in Greensboro occasionally so I have never been to the salon before. I made an appointment for a haircut only with Jennifer after reading the reviews on the salon and the dollar rating listed on Yelp. The haircut is fine. My hair is all one length so there isn't much to it. The surprise came when they checked me out and told me it would be $65. I've never been charged more the $45 for a haircut only anywhere. When I protested, they took $10 bucks off but I should feel great about a $55 haircut. I don't. So I'm not going back. read more

I had Boho come out to do my wedding last weekend. They were absolutely incredible! Taylor and Jennifer were both so sweet and flexible and it really set up the tone for the entire day. Even the other vendors recognized that it was because of them we were all on time and ready and looking great! Everyone had awesome things to say about our make up and hair. I went to Boho Salon looking for a blonde balayage and trusted the hairstylist, Taylor with my hair. She was super sweet and I honestly enjoyed her. She lighten me like I wanted and I was very happy with my lightness but once I got home I started to notice patchiness and orange tones in the hair. My roots were very dark and it looked like regrowth. My hair started to break off on the ends and I had to get it fix since my son's birthday party is on Saturday. I called to try to get some of my money back and was told "we don't do refund and that's just how we do things here". I was also told that I should have returned for them to fix it for free but I think that if they wronged me once how was I supposed to trust them to fix it. My hair was breaking off. It's been a couple of weeks since my daughter and I went in for a consultation with Mary Claire, she was an absolute doll. After visiting with her, both myself and my daughter felt very comfortable in that she was more than capable,and qualified. We were not only in need of a new stylist, my 17 yr old granddaughter would make 3 knew very loyal clients Mary Claire would be adding to her base, along with Boho Salon adding 3 new customers to purchase retail. I had brought up her fee a time or two, and she assured us we would go to to the front desk to find out this information. I felt it a bit peculiar, but I wasn't worried, I was thrilled! UNTIL ... We walked past the display of BEDHEAD products I'd seen in the grocery and drug stores ( again a bit strange because I was just a more familiar with the big 3 Aveda, Redken, Matrix.) so to cut to the chase my highlights and short cut with a $15 extra charge for protein pack to protect my hair when lifting was going to be a $380ish and my daughter's cut and color was going to be $320ish!!!! Sorry I didn't remember the change! I just came from living in San Francisco for 4 years and didn't pay THAT!! We are in GREENSBORO for goodness sakes. I'm used to spending for short cut and highlights $150 + 20 tip and $30+ $5 tip about every 2 to 3 weeks. I felt so sorry for the time Mary Claire had spent with us, and she wasn't just loosing 1 most likely life long client, but 3 CLIENTS who spend money not only on services, but a great deal of retail products. (Bedhead? I'm still scratching my head.) Hey, I'm sorry but that was just one crazy experience and I would like for people to be aware. What would have happened if I had not done a a consultation and just made the appointment like I had every other time. It would have put myself an Mary Claire in a horribly embarrassing situation. Great Eco-Friendly Salon! Downtown Greensboro just south of Natty Greens off Elm. They just expanded but still has that very friendly small vibe. Every Stylist there is excellent. They have small patio outside that you can sit while waiting for color. Very cool interior with art work for sale. They are hip but not snobby.... I've seen old and young and they treat everyone with respect and kindness which is refreshing. It seems they have a philosophy behind the business that is genuine! read more

I told Taylor I was going to a wedding later that day and needed a styling and makeup. She always made sure that I feel comfortable and explained every single step. I am new to the area just transferring to the Greensboro area from Augusta, Georgia. I do not really know anyone in this area but asked around and was told to try a couple of salons. I called both of them but I was able to get a much needed appointment that day at Boho. I was very impressed with the relaxing atmosphere and charming little shop. I saw Andy who did a great job on my hair. He asked me how I wanted it and made some suggestions which I liked. My hair cut was a very nice experience. I do not need to try the other salon, I have already set up my next appointment with Andy at Boho in a couple of weeks. If I keep getting this type of service I will never go anywhere.
