There were a few other people on the trail today, though no bikes. We even saw a tri-color Corgi-mix with beautiful blue eyes! The trail is very well marked, although I typically get lost around the washout, but that's me being stubborn. Sorry for the dead end footprints, y'all! Found my way quickly along the trail past the Day Use area this weekend - I didn't ask for directions, of course - and had a great workout. He's short and I'm old, so we make a great hiking team. Just sharing here - I picked up a set of bone conduction headphones and listened the book of Psalms while hiking through creation - it was a deeply spiritual day and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to share that moment here. Definitely check out the hiking trail, it's about 5 miles with only a couple mild - moderate climbs and makes for a nice Saturday adventure. Check out the little shops and stores in Folsom when you're done!

Evidently the last owner of the house donated the house and some of the land to the state for a park which is great. It saves the land for use. I came to tour the house. There is a lot of open ground between the rows of slips giving you a sense of open space. There is another campground section in the back where the boat ramp is with some space to park your vehicles with boat trailers. The facilities are well maintained. For example, the site directly across from me has a brand new picnic table which are more expensive than your average table since the entire frame is made from tubular metal to ward off termites. Each gender has three separate shower rooms available to them. Each room is lockable and comes with a toilet, a sink vanity, and a very large shower stall. The rooms are spacious so that parents can help their young children. There two sets of washers and dryers in that same centrally located building for the front campground. The rear campground has their own building with restrooms and showers. The dump station has a hand soap dispenser which is the first time I've seen that at a public campground. I camped in slip #26 which is located at the end of the row and has partial shade over half the slip all day long. The end of the row is next to the park boundary and on the other side is an old cemetery which makes for a quiet area buffer from any residences. After my first weekend, almost everyone else checked out and I had my row to myself. Located within the park is the historical Old Mill House Museum but tours were not available (mid June 2023) as they were currently doing repair work. There is a swamp trail boardwalk available for walking/hiking with periodic benches and a river view at one point. They have provided playground equipment and swings for the children. There are about 80 RV slips and all have water and power hook ups. There a half dozen or so with sewer hook ups. There is also a large tent camping area with no power hook ups. There are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores within just a few miles of the park in both Madisonville and Mandeville.

It took me a few days to figure out that I like this place. I thoroughly dislike the tacky…read more"Disneyesque" Margaritaville campgrounds popping up, and I feared this might be similar. But at the end of the day the only real problem was a group of local 40-somethings on TRT with their 3 pit bulls who were camping together in a group of 6. They basically hung out all day in lawn chairs getting hammered in the driveway section of their site (directly across from our site) basically just being d**ks. (there needs to be some sort of rule about pit bull kennels operating in a campsite)... But after they left, this RV campground became more calm and worth exploring and enjoying. There is a small lazy river, a large pool and a poolside bar. There is also a decent workout room available 24/7. The lakeside location of several camp sites was the draw for us, as was the evening entertainment while enjoying a few drinks. The campsites are all immaculate full hookup with excellent concrete pads. There are both back in and pull-throughs to accommodate most size rigs. It's only about an hour to New Orleans, so a sight-seeing trip there is easy to do. Very convenient to the I-10. Glad we stayed and we'd likely stay again when passing through.

However, our cabin unit was dirty upon check-in, delivered linens had dead bugs, kitchen and beds had live ants, and there was visible mold in the living room. Our toddler has severe allergies and I am pregnant...so our concerns were warranted. Upon reporting the issues, front desk was not apologetic or seem to take the comments seriously...therefore we are disappointed considering the rental was $1150 for 3 nights and would recommend overall improvements in cleanliness.

Paradise Ranch is the kind of campground that makes you never want to leave!…read more This was our first trip to Paradise Ranch and we wish we would've went much sooner! The park immerses you in the outdoors offering huge RV spots, plenty of entertainment, and beautiful grounds where you just never get tired of being outside. The park has about 100 beautiful red deer ranging from young calves to 14+ point stags just wandering around the park. It's common to see the deer walking through the campground amongst the campers looking for some food and companionship. Along with the deer, they also have many pot-belly pigs that roam around looking for a snack! Apart from the wildlife, the park has a beautiful lake stocked with fish just inviting people to walk around it's edge and enjoy it's natural beauty. We also enjoyed the nice, easily manageable, hiking trail through the woods. Even though we visited during the cooler months, we found that the summer activities seem to be abundant. Seeing the huge lagoon pool, the air jumping pillows, the water balloon battle station, the corn hole boards, and the horseshoe pits makes it very clear that we will have even more fun when we visit again next summer. Also, if you don't have a camper or someone in your family or friend group is not into RV'ing, the park offers many cabins and 4 very unique and large air conditioned glamping tents that can be rented allowing everyone to enjoy all the park has to offer. Last, but certainly not least, this park nestled quietly away in the Mississippi pines, hosts the best live musical entertainment found at any campground we've ever visited or even heard of. Their lineup (their 2023 lineup is now on their FB page) offers its guests the chance to enjoy music from all genres with artists ranging from Grammy Award winners to smaller well-known entertainers. Here are some highlights of the park: *Large sites with fire rings and picnic tables *Full hookups *Laundry rooms *Large, clean bath house *Cabins and glamping tents for rent *Ample entertainment options for all ages *Abundant wildlife roaming around the park *Golf cart rental *Kayak rental *Large well-stocked camp store *Large lagoon pool with water activities when in season *Camp Grill for ordering snacks while camping *Courteous staff *Great musical entertainment on weekends All in all, this is probably our most favorite park we've ever visited. The only complaint we had is that we had to leave and go back to work! Definitely will be back soon!

There are anchor bolts sticking out of the walls and bottom of the pool. Three of our five person group cut their feet on the broken rough patches of concrete. There is a dirt line all the way around the inside. Its gross. The camping spots are all gravel. It's rained two afternoons and our sites were flooded. The power went out two of three days but was restored quickly. There are kids (like young kids) and adults drinking and driving golf carts and side by sides FAST and irresponsibly. Someone is going to get hurt. Rules are not enforced so there are people riding and playing loud music at all hours of the night. Don't expect to get anywhere in a vehicle. People park in the roads wherever they want with campers, trucks, trailers, golf carts, etc. There is NOTHING to do nearby. The closest grocery store is 20 min away. The only positive of our stay was the Fourth of July fireworks show. It lasted 25 minutes. I bumped up one star for that. We will not be back here.

There was another trail, but we did not take it. The massive cypress are just awesome! The Spanish moss slowly wavering in the air as you walk underneath these giants is just captivating to me! We did not encounter any creatures except squirrels and a male Orchard Orbweaver and his impressive web. Sooo much space and things to do here we didn't even do all of it.
