As a former regular of the establishment, I can tell you that Bogies does not only embody the lifestyle of a LSU Tiger, it embodies the lifestyle of a young Louisianian. The Bogies experience begins with the entrance line. At this moment in time, you find yourself surrounded by a slew of inebriated college co-eds just itching to get inside. Once you are inside, you see it... You instantly understand why people come here. You see the C-shaped bar that serves stout and premium beverages at college town prices. If this could bring a smile to your face, then what you see next should bring a joker's grin. What you see next is the dance floor which is always packed, forming a hierarchy of drunk girls with the most intoxicated being featured on top of the stage. I have spent many-a-night at Bogie's Bar & (where is the) Grill. In fact most of my money in college was invested in Bogie's... Bogie's is your typical college bar - cheap drinks and loud music. It's usually loaded with the Greek crowd, but some nights there is a good mix. Ladies crowd the bar on Thursday and Saturday nights in order to get in without having to pay the pesky cover charge. Old School night (Fridays during football season) is great for those who want to relive their LSU glory days, but it gets extremely packed extremely fast. Avoided during college and thought it was a frat bar, however it's bearable and perfect walking distance if you are staying near by. After football games, you'll find cheerleaders(my brother) and football players. Had an excellent time after Ole Miss win! read more

Gave this place 1 star only because I can't give it 0 stars. I was so glad when it opened a few weeks ago. UNfortunately for them, not only will I not be returning for a while, but I'm about to SLAM them. I went in here on a Mon night-not very busy considering LSU had just won the National Championship. My main complaint is I walked up to the bar, made eye contact with the bartender SEVERAL times. He was understandably helping other patrons yet DID NOT, at any point, acknowledge me with a simple "I'll be right with you sir." I have come to expect better service on slow nights-no matter where I go. It was unprofessional and made me feel like a piece of shit. You'd also think since they've been given a second chance, they'd make it less divey. Oh well bogies. read more

Went here last night for the first time (Friday night). I was lucky enough to squeeze my Mini Cooper into the last remaining parking spot. I got there around 11pm and the place was full. $10 cover (annoying, but I had to pay up since I was meeting friends there). Typically I avoid covers at all costs unless there's a band there or something justifying it. $10 was totally too much to pay to get in this kind of a bar. As I walked in the front doors, I passed the Rules board, and noticed one said "No visible tattoos". WHAT?! Are you kidding me? I don't have any tattoos, but this is freaking 2010 here! Not the 1950's! As soon as I saw that sign, I knew what I was getting myself into. Also would like to mention that the bouncer studied my ID for about 2 mins before letting me in. Dude, I'm almost 25. Give me a break, I know I have an out of state ID, but this is a college town and my ID has 3 freaking holograms on it. If it was a fake, it'd be the best fake ever. Inside, the crowd was mostly girls dressed to the 9's with high heels, short skirts, tons of make-up on, and they were all hanging on guys in collared shirts (many of them popped collars I must add). Seriously, I don't think I saw one guy in there who wasn't wearing a collared shirt. A bartender even had a Titleist hat on. Where am I?!? A country club on Martha's Vineyard? But only the clientele was New England Country Club, because the bar was completely dirty dive. Black walls, dirty concrete floor, neon beer signs, dirty old flags hanging on the wall. It actually looked quite cool. There's a big outdoor section in the back which I can see myself hanging out at in the autumn months when it cools down a little. The beer is cheap and they have a decent selection of bottles to chose from. The DJ was alright, but he really should mix in some more obscure stuff. I felt like I was listening to top 40 radio. If it weren't for the obnoxious crowd, I might actually like this place though. I'll give it another shot. Maybe I need to be wasted to truly appreciate (and tolerate) this place. read more

Grill? I spent the first few college years boycotting this place as I'm not the sorority girl type. Then I made some friends who raved about it and decided to put my judgmental ways aside... really good decision! Yes, it is a frat-tastic bar but it's a d@mn good time! You will likely have a hard time parking, wait in line to get in, have a drink spilled on you, and leave a sweaty mess .... but you won't be disappointed. A hostile environment if you are not an insider! I visited this bar for the first time last night with my friend and was not even there ten minutes before three guys started trouble. My friend and I were completely sober and had not even said a word to anyone yet. There was no protection or security and I felt the bar enabled this behavior to happen. One of the guys even threatened to kill us outside.. I should have left and immediately contacted the police, but I really wasn't in the mood. We just left after we were being continuously assaulted and pushed off of the property by the three guys while the staff did nothing to help us. I'm no stranger to conflict, as I am a security guard myself and have been for several years, but we did everything to not aggravate the situation. If this is the norm for this establishment, it deserves to be reported to the Better Business Bureau and shut down! In addition, I'm usually not one to complain, but I definitely wouldn't mind having my $5 cover back for my friend and myself, an apology, and justice to be served for the punk criminal kids they allow to do as they please. Was extremely disappointed in one of the bouncers named Sully. He witnessed a guy purposefully spill a beer on two girls and dragged me out of the bar by my collar for calling him a coward for not doing anything about it. Really hope going forward they train their bouncers to not use physical force unless necessary. He could have easily asked me to leave instead of resorting to violence first. read more

I was a Bogie's fan throughout college. As a young professional, I've visited only a handful of times after encountering rude 18 year old door guys. Not to mention the rude bartenders who make it seem like you're inconveniencing them by ordering a drink so that you can tip them. The service is terrible and the staff is beyond rude. I don't go to boutiques, restaurant, stores, etc. where the staff is rude. Why would I continue to go to Bogie's where I've had the worst service (and drinks) ever? I've decide to take my money, and my friends money to other establishments where the staff realizes that the customer is providing their paycheck. This bar will continue to do well because the males will continue to go for the 19 year old females that are too intoxicated to realize that there's better places to spend daddy's money. read more

One word...moderation I was bored one night and headed out to this fine establishment for some good ole' fashioned fun, you know, live music, beer and sorority girls ready to piss off their dads. Anyway one thing led to another and I drank 9 bear fights. For those of you who do not know what this magical concoction is, imagine for a second that someone harvested the tears of Satan himself and distilled those tears into alcohol, now mix that with an industrial cleaner and you have what is called a Bear Fight. It is rumored the name was coined after many described taking one of these as being comparable to fighting an actual bear. Suffice to say, they are not for the faint at heart. Fast forward to 19 hours later, I wake up in the ditch in front of Uview with a Mexican grounds crewman poking me with a stick. Joy overwhelms him when I come to, assuming a dead body would mean cops, and cops would mean Immigration and Customs Enforcement and that would me Jose here would be deported. I slowly make it to my feet after many failed attempts; "where am I?" I ask my Mexican friend in a sort of mumbled slurred speech that only Nick Nolte would understand. He replies back with a string of incoherent Spanish most likely referencing the 'youth of today' and how we are an embarrassment to our mothers. I slowly realize that I am indeed right across the street from Bogie's and in fact did not make it 50 yards before having my grass laden nap yet as I soon found out, I was still lost. I had no keys, not wallet and no cell phone. My shirt was ripped, I clearly had blood on hands and pants, who it belonged to was a mystery and I was unaware of what day it might be. Up to this point I was too focused on catching my bearing to do a systems check and it was at this moment I knew what Death himself felt like. Every bone in my body felt like it had just received a marrow transplant and without anesthesia, my head felt like it spent the night under Rosie O'Donnell's left ass cheek and my stomach felt as though it had attempted to pass wood chips. I later pissed after consuming exactly 2 gallons of water and 1 liter of Gatorade and I was pretty sure it was 90% blood. On the bright side I did have a girls number in my pocket and I eventually found my keys in the Bogie's mailbox. Pros - awesome atmosphere, tons of hot chicks and STRONG pours. Cons - amnesia, kidney failure and rectal trauma. read more

This establishment doesn't care one bit about the people who live nearby. WAY too much bass. My walls shake, vibrating everything I have up on shelves as well as paintings. I can't block that kind of noise out with fans or ear plugs. It's really, really annoying and frankly against the law. How this can be allowed to continue is beyond me. I understand college kids having a good time, but loud music until 2am on a school night is ridiculous. read more
