I'm in town from San Francisco for two weeks of partner acrobatics training at Pitch Catch Circus,…read morebut wanted to see an acupuncturist for my neck/shoulder pain so that I could be in tip top shape. After Day 1 of training, my acro partner and I were able to see Daniel Gonzalez regarding our issues. Daniel and Tony who was at the front desk that day were very accommodating in seeing us even though we were 20 min late for our appointments (it was at the end of the day). Daniel used dry needling technique and was able to pin point the origin of the issue with not only the neck/shoulder but wrist pain on my right side, which came from some major knots in the forearm. I felt soreness the day after but much more open while training. After Day 2-3 of training, I noticed my calves were incredibly tight despite doing body work with Yoga Tuneup balls... including rolling and sustained compression during breaks. On the afternoon of Day 3 of training, I rolled my ankle (not major but enough to prevent me from training the rest of the day). Of course I called the clinic to see if Daniel would be available to see me that afternoon. Before I even mentioned anything about my calves, Daniel said on the phone well, depending on the severity of the swelling on the ankle he may or may not use needles there but often the origin on the issue is upstream like in the calves. So during the second session, after releasing the ridiculous amount of knots in my calves, Daniel offered a pro bono session during the weekend to follow up. I am here on a Sat afternoon writing this review onsite. Because of my rolled ankle on the left side, my right quad became really tight from using it more during the last two days of training. I am so so grateful to have found the Alternative Clinic and stumbled upon Daniel! I highly highly recommend this clinic!

But it really is quite relaxing here since the make shift booths are surrounded by black out curtains and the music is the perfect volume and plays nice Chinese relaxation music and instrumentals. Very clean here as well. I opted for a 90 minute massage and it was worth every penny. Was asked if I needed medium or hard pressure, I decided on medium for a change and I'm glad I did because I think now I prefer it as it wasn't painful at all, and of course knots were given extra attention to be worked out so may be a bit painful there but worth it. They also use hot stones without request here, so that's awesome. For the foot massage, they don't massage other parts of your body as well like many of the other places, but they do use hot stones on your feet here, and I do believe it helps out a lot for those on their feet all the time like me. The staff there are also very nice and professional.
