I recently purchased a gift certificate for a one hour massage online for a friend. I purchased the new client one hour massage special. I assumed this would be acceptable since I have never been a client. Also, I wasn't sure if my friend had been before but the website required me to enter my friend's name when purchasing so I assumed she hadn't been and that the new client certificate was acceptable since the website completed the transaction after entering her name. Apparently not. AFTER my friend received her massage, not before, she was told that she did not qualify for that rate and she owed a balance. My friend asked why she wasn't made aware of this prior to the massage as she was not under the impression she owed anything. It was a gift after all and she had turned her gift certificate in prior to receiving the massage; I would expect any discrepancy to have been caught at that time. The owner, in a redundant tantrum, explained to her that she did not qualify for the certificate that was purchased for her. The owner then proceeded to tell my friend to take it up with the person that purchased the gift for her, me! I was so appalled at the story that I called to speak with the owner myself. Upon returning my call days later, the owner was extremely condescending, rude and would interrupt me mid-sentence. I even told her that it's not that I felt she was wrong, I just felt she handled the situation wrong. Obviously, this was a classic case of miscommunication and instead of apologizing, the owner was downright trashy about the situation. I also mentioned to her that while my friend's massage therapist was great, she said she could hear what sounded like a microwave in the background from somebody heating up their lunch. The owner's response: "Oh my god, really?!" in a raised voice. I then asked why she would respond that way and not take it as a learning experience. She responded by saying that she's been a business owner for over 11 years and she's didn't need more learning experiences. I really am just shocked at the lack of professionalism from this lady. Had she been polite and respectful, I would have gladly paid the balance. Instead, she was yelling non-stop to the point that I just had to hang up. I've never actually received a massage from this business, but as a paying customer, my experience was a nightmare! If you do go, bring a spare credit card and some ear plugs. On the upside, maybe they will heat up your lunch after the massage. read more
