History
Established in 1984.
The Open Centre, the venue for my practice, was established in 1977. I became a member in 1984, soon after qualifying as a therapist. Together with my colleagues, Richard Mowbray, Juliana Brown and Silke Ziehl , we have been in continuous operation in the same period building since inception, formerly St Lukes school and recently renovated to a high standard, providing a spacious, aesthetically pleasing and technologically advanced practice setting, ideal for both group and individual sessions. We are one of the UK's longest established centres for personal development. Bodyspace is the profile that identifies the specific programme of ongoing groups and weekend workshops that I personally offer.
Meet the Business Owner: Guy G.
I grew up partly in Australia, survived a British public school, dropped out of Oxford ,returning to university 20 years later, after many adventures that included digging the Victoria Line and DJ on a pirate radio station in the Thames estruary. 9 years as an international household furniture remover was an informal training in helping people through stress and crisis. I then trained with The Institute for the Development of Human Potential (2 years), The Institute of Psychotherapy and Social Studies (3 years) and the British Association of Analytical Psychotherapy (5 years). More recently I co-founded the 2 year personal development adventure, Humanistic Alchemy, and qualified with merit as a personal performance coach, with a view to supporting environmental and community activists. I am accredited as a groupwork and bodywork practitioner with UKAHPP. I am in ongoing supervision and also supervise other practitioners in a variety of settings.
