Customers beware! This is, by far, the worst experience I have had with a car repair company in my…read morelife. This company initially appealed to me because they advertised coming to pick up your car and dropping it off in your parking area (how convenient!) and seemed like a nice local small family business (which I always try to support). As a physician, I work very long hours and appreciated the convenience offered by this company. This however turned out to be a major issue in the long run. Some months ago, my car developed a slight issue that occurred for about a half second every 30-40 miles. I drive a 2009 car with over180,000 miles so I thought it important to have the car checked out in case a part needed to be changed. Briest Automotive initially took the car and performed a routine maintenance service before returning the car to me. Following this, the issue persisted, so I reached back out to them. They opted to come and pick up my car once again at which time they performed a repair on a part within my transmission. Following this repair however, my car began having a MAJOR issue which occurred reliably when shifting gears. This rendered the car unsafe to drive, so much so that I almost got into a car accident on my way from work (the car randomly stopped on a left turn at a busy intersection during rush hour traffic). After this, I opted to leave the car on my parking and get a rental. I tried contacting Briest Automotive about this/tried to figure out what happened, however no one returned my calls or messages for weeks. Eventually, Pamila (the customer liaison), answered apologetically and explained that they would come and get the car asap with intentions to return it only when it is fixed. After weeks of not hearing back from them, I sent a message to them to just forget about it and return my car to me by fears that they were actually trying to steal it at this point. At that time, they explained that they had performed said repairs totaling over $1,500 (replacing certain parts within the transmission) and that the car still had the major shifting issue. I reviewed this with multiple mechanics and ALL have said that this course of action was unreasonable and likely had a financial incentive. All have reliably explained that no one actually trying to solve this issue would have replaced every part of a transmission on a car with over 180,000 miles. Exchanging the transmission for a new one should have been their only move as everyone knows how expensive transmission are. I discussed this and my dissatisfaction with them, and they claimed to stand by their "excellent" work/decisions, even claiming that they were doing me a favor! charging me over $1,500. Despite my comments, they refused to bring my car back to me until I paid for the entirety of their charges IN CASH. I have never dealt with such an incompetent and unprofessional car company. Due to trusting this company, my car was damaged/became unsafe to drive resulting in my almost getting in a car accident; I was charged over $2K of unnecessary repairs on a transmission that needs to be changed anyways; I have incurred additional unnecessary car rental charges totaling over another 2K and been car-less for months due poor efficiency and communication; I still need to get my car fixed and start back at step 1 (meaning more time, more money) - I just hope that they have not damaged other parts of the car and that it can actually still be salvaged. I am incredibly disappointed with this company. CUSTOMERS BEWARE! STAY AWAY AT ALL COST! These people are not only negligent but incompetent and money hungry and will surely take advantage of you if possible. I am typically not one to speak out against other professionals because I know how hard it is to own a business, but at this point I feel as though it is my responsibility to warn honest customers about this company's ways.

So I stop at Douglas Collision and Mr. Tim came out to take a look and he began to work on it right away! The plastic was hard to deal with but he didn't let it deter him and kept working on it. Until lo and behold he got it working again! I was so happy, because I carry the kids in this car and we need to be able to use the seat belts. Then I turned around and asked him how much do I owe you? He said nothing! Who gives a service nowadays and not charge you? Therefore, I would like to recommend their services to you. They are very professional and kind mechanics. I have had other services provided from them and their prices are a lot better than some dealerships. Thank you for reading. Have a great day!

My experience with Douglas Collision Center was extremely disappointing and raised serious concerns…read moreabout workmanship, honesty, and customer treatment. I brought my daughter's vehicle in after a rear-end accident. When I returned for the first pickup on November 12th, I discovered new damage on the car that was not present at drop-off, which I documented with timestamped photos. When I pointed this out, the manager (Tim) initially denied it until the photos were shown. During that same first pickup, I identified multiple paint defects on the bumper. Instead of addressing them, Tim became combative and stated that I was the one who had damaged the bumper--something that was not true and did not match the condition of the car shown in my photos from drop-off. This was extremely concerning and added to the growing trust issues I was experiencing. I later withdrew repair authorization due to the new damage and the accusation, but the shop continued working on the vehicle anyway. During the second pickup attempt, the situation escalated. My daughter and wife were inspecting the car when additional issues were found, including paint defects, misalignment, and a missing underbody cover plate that had not been reinstalled. Despite these issues, we were told to take the car as-is. A staff member then made a false accusation that my minor daughter had chipped paint from the bumper--something disproven by timestamped photos and video taken before the vehicle was touched. The interaction also included hostile comments, which were captured on video. The next day, we took the vehicle to Maurice's Auto Body, who documented and confirmed every defect, including the missing underbody panel and the new damage created at Douglas. They completed the repairs properly, and Douglas ultimately paid them for part of the corrective work. My experience reflected: * new damage created during the repair process, * refusal to correct visible defects, * an accusation that I damaged the bumper during the first pickup, * unauthorized continuation of repairs after I withdrew approval, * false accusations toward both me and my daughter, * and unprofessional, hostile conduct. Based on what we documented and what an independent shop confirmed, I cannot recommend Douglas Collision Center.

We first took our van to D & D last September (2025) because our engine light came on and cruise…read morecontrol stopped working. We were leaving for MI the next day after picking up our "fixed" van. On the way, light came on, cruise didn't work. We kept taking it back because it wasn't fixed. They have had it more than we have! During this winter we experienced the same over and over. The van then developed where everytime we put gas in it it wouldn't start. The part they quoted us was almost $500 plus $100 to install. We were able to get the Toyota part from Toyota in Lakeland less than $250. D&D did install the part fixing the hard start. However, the engine light continues to come on and cruise stops. In May we were told a vacuum hose, plugged and capped had been found and they would have to locate a diagram of the engine to know where to connect it. Supposedly this past week the van was fixed. We picked it up Friday evening after dropping it off on Monday. Today, Sunday, the light is back on and cruise has stopped. On more than 1 occasions we were given a day to bring the van in which we would do , it sat for days untouched. Drove by Friday near noon van was where we had left it. We called an hour later told they were just scanning the code , we were called shortly to be told it's fixed and we could pick it up. It appears what happened was the code was reset, the van isn't fixed. We highly DO NOT RECOMMEND D & D. Unless you don't mind paying to have a problem that doesn't get fixed, extremely poor communication, knowing Don when he does show up works from 11am -4pm. But he will be quick to let you know he has a life, plus in addition to the repair side, he sells cars, and manages rental properties, as well as sells real-estate. He should concentrate on one interest and do it well! If not repair, then selling cars, if not that, then property management/real-estate selling. His Dad would love to retire completely and step aside but his son doesn't seem to want to do that. For us, NEVER again. Tells you he can fix it, takes your money, your time. We are retired, on fixed income, taking care of 92+ & 98 year old parents. Our own health is not good and this has caused us increased difficulties.

Big Nightmare!!!!!!!Worst experience we have ever had with a custom auto shop. BUYERS BEWARE!…read more We brought our brand-new truck to JRod Auto Body and Resto for custom work in November. One of the first red flags was being required to pay more than half upfront for parts, paint, and tires before the work was completed. We initially received some parts, but in December we were asked to pay the remaining balance even though other parts had still not arrived. We were repeatedly told that the wrong parts were being shipped and sent back. The response we consistently heard was, "I don't make the parts." After approximately six months of delays and ongoing issues, we requested a refund and were told their vendor would not refund them, leaving us with no resolution despite having already paid in advance. One of the most serious issues involved a tire swap. We brought the truck in with brand-new tires, but after the swap the truck began shaking violently. I immediately took it to the dealership where the truck was purchased, and I was informed the tires installed on the vehicle were dry-rotted and heavily patched. For safety reasons, I had to replace all four tires at my own expense. When I requested reimbursement, it was refused. We also began noticing paint peeling on the body, wheels, hood, and rear of the truck shortly after bringing it home. Another reputable auto body shop inspected the vehicle and informed us that an excessively thick clear coat had been applied, causing orange peel texture, bubbling, and peeling throughout the vehicle. In addition, several original parts from our truck are now missing. We had to go to the dealership ourselves to obtain estimates for replacement parts and labor to correct the issues. Attempting to resolve this situation directly was extremely frustrating and unproductive. We never got a refund or even an apology for all that we have been through. Once they have your money, they will not pick up your phone calls and if you go to the shop they will be very rude and upset and give you the same answer about the famous quote from Milly, " I don't make the parts"! Overall, we are deeply disappointed with the workmanship, communication, and professionalism we experienced. If you choose to use this shop, be cautious about paying large amounts upfront before work is completed and documented. We regret ever bringing our truck there. See photos below! I'm sharing to help someone else avoid the situation we found ourselves in!
