My first tattoo in Pennsylvania with my beastie was at totem know Shamokin. Wonderful people. I have been pierced by the amazing miss Ruth and also by a wonderful young woman at the Shamokin site. So, it was inky natural that when my favorite tattooist (acacia) is booked for a year I called totem. Sadly, the main artist there is dealing with a serious health condition. They recommended calling their sister store in williamsport. Which I gladly did. I called on Tuesday. Was asked to send in pictures of what I wanted (a poinsettia to honor mom) and the placement. I was also told to call back on Thursday to talk to him and book the appointment. I called today (Thursday) after sending the letter and the pictures to talk to Levi and book the appointment. I was told that the appointment had been booked for someone else. When I said that I did everything I was told and didn't understand why the appointment was booked for someone else, I was told, "it happens ". Seriously?? That's how you do business???? I am so very disappointed.

The transfer was good, spacing looked nice, etc. But when I was laying on the table, something was off. I could feel the artist repeatedly going over a section they had already done. (I could feel the letters as they spelled it out and I knew they should have been finished.) All the words were complete. But the gun was still going. When I asked the artist what was going on, he cleared his throat and hesitated before saying "uhh, umm, yeah. It's done." When I looked in the mirror, I noticed that the word "PAIN" seemed bold compared to the rest of the wording. I thought maybe it was the initial swelling of the tattoo. But even after it healed, the lines word "PAIN" were thicker than the rest of the tattoo. It's been years, and I'm thankful it never blew out. But I'm still disappointed by it and I'm glad I can't see it on a daily basis because it's hidden under my bra. Most days I try to forget it's there because it's truly disappointing.

But this update is to acknowledge that in the nearly 6 years since I posted my initial review, the owner (Don D) has spent more time commenting on my review asking me to take it down than he has in actually creating happy customers. The best way to counter a negative review like mine is to make changes in your shop (better lighting, better quality jewelry, cleaner shop, sober artists, no smoking, etc, etc, etc) then actually have happy customers who want to share their opinions on Yelp. Otherwise, the folks who had a negative experience will be your voice in the world. And my experience of Legacy Tattoo? Still negative.
