The decor is nice in the front section there are several comfy sofas and chairs if you just want to come for a drink. Then there are lots of country tables and chairs very casual and homey. Some nice large and small ones. There's also a nice long bar to hang at. I had a strawberry rhubarb vodka cocktail and my husband had an elderberry gin cocktail. Both were delicious. Then we had breaded mushrooms with Aioli which was good. For dinner I had stalk, salad, and sweet potato fries. It was yummy everything was cooked very well. My husband had q Brazilian chicken dish with rice that was brat as well. For dessert we shared the chocolate mousse and Chardonnay. Both were very good and nice sized. The service was great - very attentive and top notch. Everything cost £50 which was very reasonable or the quantity and quality of everything. The room was warm and welcoming and we were greeted almost straightaway by a lovely lady who was one of the new management team. We ordered drinks and studied the menu. Our orders were taken and we waited in anticipation for our starters. I ordered tomato soup and my husband ordered prawn cocktail. When they came we got a wonderful surprise. The soup was home made with fresh tomatoes and piping hot. The prawn cocktail was large and very tasty. For our main course we had both ordered battered cod and couldn't believe our eyes when it arrived. The fish portions were extremely generous (taking up half the plate) and the chips, new potatoes and side salad portions were generous and extremely tasty. We did not have a desert because we were so full. To sum up, it was an unexpected culinary delight and the service was fantastic. We would definitely recommend a visit and ask any one else who has had a bad experience prior to the new management taking over to give it a try, you won't be disappointed (we were so pleased with the meal we have now booked a table for Christmas day !).
