Castiglione Bijoux is one of the 5-6 remaining boutiques located in the Louvre des Antiques...and…read morethe owner, Didier Tharin and his shop are simply exquisite! Offering such high-end designers as Mauboussin and Boucheron as well as a fantastic representation from all over France, there is a lovely focus on Art Deco and important pieces from the era What drew us into the shop was a particularly wonderful pair of coral clips as well as a pearl ring - but it was hard not to ask to try on everything Mr Tharin had in stock! Our visit was extremely enjoyable - we were treated to a thorough history of the shop, the various pieces Mr Tharin has acquired over the years and how the Louvre des Antiques is under threat of being converted to a huge shopping mall - which would be a huge disappointment! On a side note - if you have an opportunity to visit Louvre des Antiques, DO IT! This is a piece of history that should be celebrated and recognized for what it is - it is not a generic shopping mall but a collection of boutiques, offering precious & important antiques from jewelry to furniture that are a once in a lifetime, unique, treasures.... We left the shop with pics - which are encouraged - and a final asking price so we could think about such an investment....and before our holiday was over, we decided the pieces were too fabulous to pass up. We hope Castiglione Bijoux and the Louvre des Antiques continue to thrive, and especially that the Louvre des Antiques reverts back to its former splendor: fully occupied with lovely, fine antique shops..... as we plan to return over Christmas and every additional visit we make to Paris

The only shortcoming was the boxes in which our wedding bands were presented in. Compared to the quality of the rings and the attention to aesthetics, we were surprised to receive our rings in a white cardboard box. It took me a second to realize that there was a man in the back room banging on some metal -- wait, duh, Toumain stood for handmade, as in handmade right there in the shop! My heart sung as I'm a major sucker for things that are handmade and that you can watch being made before your eyes. So naturally when I asked if the copper dangly earrings that I had fallen in love with (28E) were made by hand the woman at the counter rolled her eyes, and was like, yeah, lady, didn't you get the memo and smiled and pointed to the man (perhaps her husband) in the workshop behind her.
