My memory for doing the steps on my own is not so great, however, my trepidations were erased as soon as I took my first class. This is an award-winning husband and wife team. As soon as I set foot in the door Danny and his lovely wife Catia immediately made me feel welcome. My instructor is Danny and he had me dancing right away. He is great on helping me with my form and helps by repeating the moves until I get it. He is encouraging, kind, helpful and respectful which goes a long way towards easing my nerves. The ballroom is very beautiful, elegant and large. Even after the first few weeks of lessons I had a grasp on the major dances and feel confident enough to go out dancing. The instructor is very patient as neither my fiance nor myself know how to dance. I really enjoyed the two lessons we have had so far. The Ninjas have been all boys thus far learning all sorts of acrobatic moves. The teachers are so nice and accommodating, which makes the kids so happy. As a parent, it's a solid hour to sit back and talk with the other parents or to chill. The administrators are also very nice and helpful when rescheduling if a class is missed. All the class schedules are available on their website. There is a birthday party discount if you attend classes, but it's still pricey. Their location is in a warehouse district and there is usually plenty of parking. They also have a child safety entrance door (which is helpful and annoying) but it keeps everyone safe from the car's driving nearby.

The evening featured several short plays, each about 15 minutes long, with a 20-minute intermission in between. After the performances, the playwrights came on stage for a Q&A session, which gave the audience a chance to hear about their creative process and ask questions. It was a wonderful addition to the evening. I'm usually away this time of year, so this was my first opportunity to attend, and I'm so glad I did. The tickets were also very reasonably priced, making it an excellent value for a night of live theater. I hope to make this an annual tradition and will definitely be back next year!

On Friday, Aug 28 my Adult Community arranged for discount group tix to see 42nd Street here. To be…read morehonest, I saw the show decades ago on Broadway but this production blew me away! The talent was incredible both from the tap dancers and the actors on this vastly smaller venue in this residential area of Delray Beach directly on Lake Ida. From what I can see, everyone in the audience was clapping and cheering, and standing on their feet for this production. It's amazing how the small Theatre can attract such great talent and put on an amazing show right here in our little town. I love coming to Delray Beach Playhouse. I've seen several shows here and they have all been wonderful. The Theatre is very comfortable for the most part and parking is easy, and free in their private lot.
