K9-Playtime

(12 reviews)

My dog Benji had a BLAST at both daycare and boarding over a weekend at K9-Playtime!! He's very…read moreattached to me, has separation anxiety, and is generally scared of other people (we've been working on that for years now but it's slow going). However, he ADORES other dogs, and his favorite thing in the whole world is being around them and playing with them. It's hard to travel with Benji and he'd struggle if I left him with a dogsitter, so when I had to leave for a weekend recently I decided to try boarding him. Since K9-Playtime includes daycare (a full day of socializing and playing with the other dogs) in their boarding package, they definitely seemed like the best option for Benji, but I was still nervous about how he'd do. The staff at K9-Playtime were super communicative, helpful, and lovely! They asked lots of great questions about Benji's behaviors in different situations to see if daycare and boarding would work for him. I brought him in for a couple partial days of daycare to test things out, and the staff were awesome with Benji and he loved it there! They said he was great with all the dogs and staff members and gave him the OK for boarding. The whole weekend I was waiting for a call saying that he was anxious and needed to be picked up early, but I was so surprised and relieved that Benji spent the whole weekend at K9-Playtime with no issues and actually had a really fun time!! He was happy and exhausted from playing when I picked him up, and honestly seemed sad to leave all his new friends! He just played with the other dogs all day long while he was there, with breaks for meals and snacks, and by bedtime he was too worn out to be anxious (or conscious lmao). They posted a picture on their social media that includes him, and he just has the biggest goofiest grin on his face as he's running around with the other dogs! I definitely recommend checking out K9-Playtime if your dog is anything like mine! It's so nice to have them as an option for Benji if I need to work a long day or travel. Great experience with them for both me and my dog!

They allow unaltered pets and judge based on their personality and ability to play well with others. Which our dog does really well. He's a lover. We do have days once or twice a week and he's worn out. Definitely gets a full four hours of play in. Super friendly and honest staff. Our pup gets lots of love there and exercise. He's one happy pup.

Beyond dissatisfied!…read more We sent our dog to this facility on December 5-19th to get a jump start on the basics of training through their "boot camp-board and train" program. Our intent in sending him was so he could receive one on one training in a training environment. 6-8 other dogs were enrolled in the same program at the time our dog arrived. We were promised that he would receive quality attention and training, but we received non of the above. We were also told that we would get a "report card" of his time at this facility. A report card that we have still never received. The dog we brought to this facility was a loving, happy and excited 33lb puppy. He was sent to this facility with ZERO food guarding issues, ZERO fleas and ZERO history of eating dog poop. What we received back was a malnourished 23lb puppy who gained more bad habits than good with his time here. He now guards his bones from humans and our other dogs, had a mild case of fleas and now regularly consumes dog poop. After consulting with our vet and researching with other trainers, it is our firm belief that Winston was mistreated, malnourished and food was withheld from him while at this facility. He was under so much stress while at this facility he nearly chewed his Metal dog collar tags in half. I had requested that our dog be given some food in his KONG at night and was told upon drop off that would happen. I wrote instructions and provided other options to the can food we normally use. This did not happen- had I known it wasn't going to happen, I would have provided additional food in his "daily amounts" to make up for the meal he would be missing. Also, we sent him with a dog bed and blankets, several blankets in case they got soiled or chewed or ripped up while he was there. We received everything back in its original packaging, but his bed. I was told he had destroyed the bed on his second night. However, he was then Put in his kennel (for what I assume is HOURS) with ZERO cushioning because not one single blanket we sent, was removed from its original packaging. We did reach out to the facility pertaining to some of the above issues and they did call us back. After having compounded issues I no longer trust their abilities. The communication that you "receive" before signing your dog up is really around "the money" rather than the experience your dog will receive while in their care. If you ask for an update with pointed questions while your dog is in their care you will receive "he/she is doing good" with very little response to your actual questions. I have (today, January 12, 2016) requested a refund for services rendered (or not rendered depending on how you look at it) and have not received a response yet. I will update my review once a response is given to rectify the situation.

My dogs went to Kristin's "boot camp". The change in their behavior and obedience was astonishing…read more I had to ask if she gave me the wrong dog after the mailman came and went without all hell breaking loose. I could not believe it was my dog. (It was!) She uses positive reinforcement so the dogs are not afraid or nervous. They went in to boot camp happy but insane, jumping on people, barking, not listening, tugging on the leash, you name it. They came home as the exact same happy, playful, friendly dogs that went in, but they were calm and well mannered, very attentive to what I ask them to do with simple hand signals. It was worth every penny. We are so lucky to have such an amazing trainer right here in Hudson!
