A charming microbrewery, just across the waterway from Zaanse Schans (a short €1.50 ferry ride from…read morenearby the Het Jonge Schaap sawmill windmill, or a few blocks walk from the bridge if you are on the town side). A great place to stop after exploring the windmills across the waterway.
They have a delightful little outside area with full service at picnic tables (which was where everyone was on the nice day I visited) as well as plenty of interior tables. The brewery itself is in a connected building, and unlike many pubs I saw in Holland, this one had a good selection of beers, as befits a proper micro-brewery.
I elected to try the blood-orange IPA -- it was good, and a little different, which is what I was looking for. I got intrigued by the menu, and ended up ordering the chicken and waffles. The waffles looked overcooked to my American eyes, but they tasted fine, and the fried chicken breast was tasty with a good exterior crunch and lots of flavor.
