The place is clean and open. If you're not sure if you want one then go for a special and try it out. It really doesn't "hurt" as your mind would like to tell you. This place is unhygienic and has an extremely rude owner. She allowed her dog to jump on my chair while being tattooed. I had to ask multiple times for it to be removed, while she just laughed it off. She had friends in the shop waiting for her to go to dinner during my appt. She complained the entire time she did the tattoo about how she did not want to be there. The work was subpar and done so aggressively. Her fee does NOT equal her work or atmosphere she creates. She made me feel like I was such an imposition to her. It was money wasted and I should have stood up and walked out. I highly recommend going anywhere else than this place. I had to go to another shop to fix what she did.

They really know how to interact with their clients to get you to feel relaxed and comfortable. I told the tattoo artist "I only want one tattoo." He told me, "Yeah, right. You'll be back." And he was right. I went back a few months later. My second tattoo experience was just as amazing! And then I went back for a third! There was a bit of miscommunication during the appointment set-up process, but it all worked out perfectly in the end! East Coast will do their best to work with you and make things right and will make you want to return... even when you initially said, "I only want one tattoo." I will only go to East Coast Tattoos & Body Piercing because their work and customer service are EXCELLENT. And because of Gypsy. And their location is perfect for me. I'll be back. :)

It had been a long time since I had any piercings done and it was great to walk into a clean and welcoming shop. I was first helped out with choosing the jewelry which was so great because I was really open to a lot of ideas and the employee helped me narrow down what would look nice together. Evan did my piercing and was so gentle and thoughtful with the entire process. He described what he would be doing and gave me a heads up at each step. I had been reassured that John was aware of my request plus I had submitted pictures. A simple black & gray tattoo that maybe should have taken an hour to do. Instead, I have 5 flower heads without stems or leaves that cost more than double what I was expecting. There is no way to rectify this. The script is completely obscured. To say that I'm not happy is an understatement. This is why I felt the need to have a consultation. Obviously, he did not understand what I meant. Flower at the base of my neck, leaves on either side of script & stem running down my back around the words. This tattoo looks nothing like what I asked for. Avoid at all costs!!!

Because of the placement, I had to be topless during the appointment, which already puts you in a vulnerable position and requires a high level of professionalism and respect. During the session, Dan tried to "make me feel better" by tickling my breasts. There was absolutely no reason for that kind of physical contact. I did not ask for it, and it was highly inappropriate and unprofessional. At 18, I didn't know how to react in the moment. I felt uncomfortable and frozen, so I didn't speak up. On top of that, he added an entire additional section to the tattoo that I did not ask for and that was never clearly discussed or approved beforehand. A tattoo is permanent, and no artist should add elements without explicit consent. I haven't reached out about my concerns until now because I felt disgusted and didn't know how to process what happened. Looking back, I realize how important boundaries and consent are in situations where clients are exposed and vulnerable. I'm sharing this so others understand that professionalism and clear consent should always be the standard in this industry. I would not recommend this shop to anyone.

Tyler Introduced himself took my photos and we had a pretty detailed discussion about what I hoped to accomplish. He took my idea and elated it considerably. He went back to his studio and came up with some stencils, worked my ideas and the final product was more than I could have hoped for. This is session one of two- hope to complete begining of Feb.
