These guys were amazing…read more We were spending a few days at the beach with my teenage daughter and a couple of her friends. They wanted to rent bikes, and we were happy they were out and about. This place was conveniently located and offered great rates for the multi-day rental. They even had locks and helmets available. The real amazingness came at the end of the trip. The car was packed, and we were ready to go. The plan was for the girls to ride their bikes back to the shop, and we would pick them up there. However, as luck would have it, none of the girls could find the keys to the locks. We called the bike shop for suggestions. They said all we had to do was stop by their shop, pay an extremely reasonable fee, and they would handle picking the bikes up from there. It didn't bother them that the bikes were parked amongst hundreds of others at Sea Colony. I guess this kind of thing happens a lot. Long story short, we got going without losing time (because the girls didn't have to pedal to the bike shop), and Bethany Bike Shop earned our business from now on.

She offered some tips related to the stormy weather and was a pleasure to work with. We also met Frank (the owner) who suggested a reasonably priced bike rack that perfectly suited my needs. The first time, Ricky tried everything while I waited to fix my chain before determining I needed a new one. The bike was then ready in an hour. Today I went in twice - first looking for toe clips for my bike and, while I was there Ricky checked my tires and filled them for me. I went back in after my ride today as my gears were slipping and offered to leave the bike as I knew they had a backlog. Ricky insisted on taking a look while I waited and was able to adjust it on the spot. Great service and expertise. Highly recommend. If it's good enough for the President https://www.yelp.com/biz/brandon-falls-lewes then it's…read moredefinitely good enough for me. I brought my bike and tried hard to get it to go but couldn't. Something about the sprocket was bent. Ugh! Instead, I sprayed some sunblock on my arms neck and face, put on a hat, and took a walk. The beach is stunning. Flat, warm, sunny and not overly crowded for a July weekend. While the beach is not step free, they're trying hard to make it as accessible as possible with mats and ramps that can support a wheelchair. That's awesome. I did see a bunch of offroaders. Apparently, you can get a permit to bring your 4WD onto the beach. Pretty darned awesome, that is! What are those huge concrete structures? They're WWII-era bunkers! Yes, these huge installations were built to counter the fear of German U-boats invading Philadelphia via the Delaware River. A series of tunnels connects the bunkers but those aren't open to visitors. I had a great visit and managed to not get any burn! [Review 18196 overall - 113 in Delaware - 1718 of 2022.]

I was in town for one week and am in the process of learning to kiteboard. I spoke with Bob (the…read moreshop owner) and the instructor, Jaxson, about my skill level (beginner, got up on the board and moving forward during the last lesson I had) and goals prior to arriving. My first lesson with Jaxson was not good. He was not prepared from an equipment/communication standpoint for the lesson. He had only a waist harness (no seat harness) for a beginner lesson. He brought only one size kite, which seemed too small for the amount of wind we had and my body weight. He brought only one size board, which was ~20cm smaller than the board I used during other lessons. It is my understanding that larger boards are preferential for beginners. He asked me if I wanted to wear a helmet (yes, I am still learning). He did not bring an impact vest. He did not bring a method of communication (ie BbTALKIN). Whenever I would ask Jaxson a technical question, his basic response was "that's just how it is". I am a very technical person and I appreciate understanding how things work. I like to know the details. When I tried to dig deeper for further details, I could sense him getting frustrated. He would just reiterate what he had already said. After our lesson, he sent me a text stating that I wasted his time and money because I misrepresented my skill level (I told him I was a beginner). He also stated he was upset with me because he bumped me ahead of other students that had been waiting for at least a month for a lesson (I did not ask for this). If you want to learn to kiteboard, please go elsewhere or you will be disappointed. I wasted my time and money (and excitement). Please don't waste yours!
