Amazing experience here with LuLu (owner) and her staff. Very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this business for their professionalism and dedication to their craft. Thank you LuLu for all my fresh cuts! read more

I had my hair cut by the same lady for 10+ years. Unfortunately had issues with scheduling a few too many times and decided to go somewhere new. My dad told me to go to Bob's. Had a big interview the same day and Jenny got me right! I got the job, came back a few months later today for another cut and she gave me what is probably the best haircut I've ever gotten. 11/10. Shout out to Jenny. This place is no BS, great pricing, and all around superb. I'll be back 100%. read more

Terrible experience not only Lulu hurts my hair after she perms it and she raise the price after I sat down for short hair perms and also she cut other hair during my time and wait for 15 mins longer and also she did not cut n blow dry my hair she totally destroyed my hair I will never go back again be aware she is terrible customer services too read more

They do a great job at Bob's Barber Stylist. Tammy is excellent and very thorough. She has been cutting my hair for over 20 years and always does an excellent job as do the other stylists. read more

Absolutely the worse experience ever Got a haircut my worst nightmare Forced to take it from unknown stylist probably doesn't even have a valid license It showed in her work plus she refused to listen to what I asked for did exactly what I said not to do Ended up with 14 inches off instead of 4 inches I asked for and even reviewed the length to cut before she started still went all out and chopped off 14 inches I asked for long layers that I showed her in pictures She cut the shortest bangs in front that won't even go behind ears fell like a short blob on my face making me look like a retard At back she cut short layers unmatched layers that didn't blend with front making it a Mickey Mouse haircut After she said she was done she couldn't style the haircut to show the layers I had given her in picture because they are too short and unblended uneven that the layers didn't fall it was all over the place When I asked about why did not listen and to fix the cut there were no hair left to even fix but she and her owner stylist lulu kept insisting it looked great But couldn't explain why hair didn't fall in layers I showed in picture I felt violated frustrated and ruined my holiday experience with parties making me look like a $4 roadside haircut victim Everyday I curse the day I went to this shop It is a men's barbershop that cut hair short down to an inch and that's what she did to me I will never forgive this woman for what she did to me to violate my right to choose my own hair cut and abused the power when I trusted her with what I asked for They should be ashamed read more

I went back to this barbershop because my regular one barber was out sick. I honestly think your experience and result depends on who you get cutting your hair. I was seated with someone new who gave me the roughest haircut in my life (rough as in, jamming the clippers into my head). What's also hilarious is that I showed the person a photo of what I wanted my hair to be like (literally a picture of me 3 weeks ago, a few days after my previous haircut), with some description on length numbers on side but I didn't get what I asked for. At least hair grows back, and it was only $30. read more

I am a true believer in difficult times we must come together as a community and support our local business. Lulu is amazing she is so good fast Cash only is the best They are open from Tuesday to Sunday which is great! Over all 5 stars with service read more

Bob's Barber Stylist - Lulu is the best - Barbers Near Me - San Mateo, California

5 stars I come here weekly to get a haircut Lulu is truly the best and accommodating. Flexible times and the wait isn't long The barbershop also has two other stylists that's give great haircut as well The price is affordable compared to other barbershops. Great service. Great experience. Thanks Lulu!! read more

I've been coming to Lulu's place for years, but only now am I finally getting around to writing a review. Despite an obvious change in ownership, she never replaced the old name of this establishment for some reason. But rest assured, Bob is not in the picture anymore. And judging by VERY old reviews, that's a good thing. I've struggled basically my entire life to find a barber/stylist who could cut my hair without causing my hair to stick up on one side, yet have consistently failed time and time again until I eventually found Lulu. Her and her team have always consistently given me great cuts, and per my specifications. Although the prices have gradually risen up over the years due to ever increasing overhead, at $25/cut for a men's haircut, it is definitely still reasonable. Lulu does not normally take appointments, so it is first come, first serve. During this pandemic, she has at times taken down names and numbers of people when the store starts to hit capacity, and offered to call people when the line dies down. Cash only so make sure to bring some. Although I've now moved out of San Mateo, I will still continue to get my cuts here whenever I'm back in the Peninsula visiting family! read more

Do a good job, but lost two stars for inconsistent service. Lulu is very nice, but she doesn't respond to calls or texts anymore, and I showed up Sunday at 9AM like posted on the door and was closed. The window decals say 930 on Sunday, so confused which is which. This is really a 3 star review but I believe during a pandemic we should be kind, and I don't want to hurt small biz. These are also things that are easily fixable. read more

We took our toddler for his first haircut ever and they did a wonderful job! The stylist was patient, kind, and managed to give him a fantastic cut despite him squirming nonstop and crying at the end. And we got some very cute pictures of him in the classic barber's chair. Highly recommend! read more

always people waiting so I know this place in good. I've been coming here over 12 years. Lulu does a great job. When I left, I checked the other barbershop down the street and it was empty read more

Still my go-to place for a nice trim. The business is owned by the very talented and always friendly Lulu. Sometimes the wait time is longer than I would like, but it's definitely worth the wait. Prices went up, but still very affordable. Always happy to support small business owners like Lulu! read more

I was walking by and saw them open and the chairs were empty. I asked if they had time for a men's haircut and they said yes. I happened to be with my wife and son who just turned 1, and his hair needed a trim. Lulu the owner cut my hair and my son got his cut right next to me. It was a great first hair cut experience for him. My hair looks great and she did a great job on the details. Worth every penny. Especially considering my barber cancelled my appointment on me and never rescheduled. He works at a very popular hair salon nearby so I'll make sure to not go back there again. 5 stars! read more

Bob's Barber Stylist - Barbers Near Me - San Mateo, California

I remember her name but she gave me a great cut. Was walking buy cuter barbershop and saw they did women's hair. Popped in and she said she didn't do women's hair. I convinced her I wanted a simple straight cut. She did a great job! I'll be going back. read more

Really like these two women who run a great men's barbershop on 25th St. in San Mateo. Super quick and friendly, also seem to be much more available than most other barbershops and are open on Sundays. Most importantly, they don't have the attitude that a lot of barbershops have where you're lucky to get an appointment. These folks actually have a nice service model and are open and direct with you about how long you wait, and when you can come in to get served right away. And, they actually pick up the phone and treat you as a valued customer. Not to mention, I have had a very very good haircut here on a number of occasions. Last weekend, went in for a haircut for both me and my son after we were stood up by another barber. No drama, just good haircuts. read more

Lulu is awesome , been going to her for 5 years now, I've tried different barber shops through out area , Lulu is the best.

Lulu does a fabulous job and at a good price. She is very flexible and especially during the pandemic. She also does kids cuts for my son. Get your haircut here!! read more

I've been getting my hair cut by Lulu for a while now. 5 star service, she is too nice!

I stumbled upon this place by accident as I was actually trying to go to another barber, but accidentally came here. I'm so glad I made that mistake as I would've never found my new barber shop. For the last 3 years, Lulu(head barber of the shop) has provided me with brilliant haircuts at a much lower rate compared to other barber shops. Thought not expensive, do not expect some cheap price you'd get with some chain. The difference between a chain and here is that at Bob's, you are going to get consistent and quality hair cuts each time your in, unlike many other places. Friendly staff and soothing music complement the old shop and give it charm. read more

Lulu took me in last minute and cleaned up my chia pet hair right before my interview. She did a great job, with a very clean, tight, high fade, and cleaned up my spikey top. read more

Lulu is my favorite! She always know how to make me look fresh. Reasonable pricing too. And I would suggest to come here on weekends when they open. Usually you can find parking on the street read more

Lulu is awesome! My son hates getting his haircut, but he doesn't mind going to get his haircut from Lulu, the owner. She is friendly and kind. We've been so often now, she knows our entire family. Just tell her how you want it cut and that's the cut you'll get. Both my husband and son go to her regularly. On the weekends, it can get crowded. And although we prefer Lulu, if she's not there the other stylists are good too. read more

Fancy salons, scissor only hair cuts are just a waste of time and money. If your a hairy person go to bobs for a $22 cut. They know what they are doing. The cut your hair faster, better and cheaper than anyone else. You don't have to hassle with scheduling an appointment. Just show up and they'll take care of you. read more

Great barber shop with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Very happy with the way my haircut turned out and it was very easy to communicate what I wanted. My favorite part of the experience was how attentive my barber was and how she would make sure that the haircut was going in the direction I wanted it to be. Would come back if I were not leaving the area in 2 weeks, haha. read more

Lulu is the new owner and we count our blessings that we randomly walked into her shop. My daughter has so much hair and her hair is straight. On top of that, my daughter is extremely picky, so it has been really hard to find a stylist who has the experience and training to give her a good cut...until Lulu. Lulu is sooo good that I can't wait for my hair to grow long, so she can cut it! Highly recommend her. read more

My haircut is simple, just use clippers to cut it short. It's hard to screw it up, which means I can go pretty much anywhere. I come here, every two weeks, because it's such a pleasant, fast experience. Lulu is really sweet, and always greets you with a big smile. The shop is open on Sunday's, and there's rarely a long wait. If only she took credit cards.... read more

After many failed attempts at finding a place to get a decent haircut, I finally found my way here. Told LuLu what I wanted and she didn't disappoint. Will definitely be coming back here. A simple shop for a great haircut. read more

Bob's Barber Stylist - Barbers Near Me - San Mateo, California

Small, unassuming shop on 25th in San Mateo. But I definitely found my new barbershop after moving here from L.A. I wanted a simple taper with a hard part, and got exactly what I was looking for! The price is only $20 (cash only, btw)...Much cheaper than the higher end shops here in San Mateo, but equal or better quality. I gotta be honest, I didn't even catch my barber's name since I was in a bit of a rush and had some other things on my mind (tho I believe it may be the same Lulu from the other review on here). Like I said, this will be my go-to shop from now on. read more

Great haircuts, reasonable prices, nice staff. It's pretty much got what I'm looking for except for 2 frustrating downsides (that don't stop me from going, but stop me from giving 5 stars): They take cash only. I've had to leave to find an ATM and return. Bad customer experience. They don't take reservations. This means sometimes you wait an hour on a weekend, which sucks. Seems like fixable downsides. Outside of those, it's a great barber. read more

These guys are great - super friendly and low prices. They also cut your hair really well and take their time so that you are content. They are also flexible with their hours - just call ahead to make sure they are open. read more

My boyfriend always walks out of Bob's looking way more handsome. The prices here are very reasonable (20$ for a men's haircut) which is really important for people with fast growing hair (like my boyfriend). There's rarely too long of a wait and all the employees are really friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend! read more

LuLu is a terrific barber and a lovely lady to boot. I hesitate to praise her because I know the place will get more crowded. She's cut my hair at her shop ever since Bob retired years ago. You won't have to wait too long and there are other barbers there who give equally good cuts if you can't wait. read more

Lulu is the bomb been going there for 5 years and she great also can cut and dye the price is right and the service is great

Ask for Lulu. It's been a while since I been here, but we're lucky she doesn't charge more. She does an excellent job. Great/friendly conversation. I always feel more confident coming out of this store. Sometimes I do feel bad when the other guy has no work and I still wait for Lulu, but she just knows what she's doing. read more

You can't get any more old school, for better or worse, than this barber shop. Faux-wood paneling, check. Fading Budweiser art, check. Up-to-date selection of nudie mags, check. Grumpy barber, check. Bob's cuts are decent. But don't expect a smile. And definitely don't expect to be treated as valued customer, as he'd rather close early or take an hour coffee break than cut your hair. read more

Incredible haircut for the price. Elevate is across the street and was closed during business hours so I went to bobs. Lulu cut my hair and did a great job. I will be going back. read more

After a year, I finally found a good barber in San Mateo. Good prices too.

This is the best place to get a clean men's haircut that I've found in the Bay Area - and for only $20! I've been coming here for about a year, and I've gotten exactly what I ask for, great attention to detail, and excellent service every time. read more

Owner is extremely friendly and does really good haircut. Price is inexpensive compared to other places in the area. Good value.
