I've been a few times, both when empty and super busy, and very much, many of the barbers don't engage customers unless it seems like they already know them; otherwise it's just in and out. (This isn't a breaking point for me, as long as I can get a good cut) For quality work though, it really comes down to paying attention to who's doing it. As a walk-in, Doug is my go to, and Frankie does decent work as well. However, I strongly recommend staying away from Shaun. A potential language barrier perhaps, as asking for a certain length (2in, 3in, etc.) results in just using a #2 or #3 head (1/4in - 3/8in). So on more than once occasion, a much closer cut than wanted. This even happened when I asked for 2 and a half inches, and in hindsight I feel like the (Half inch) request should have made the point, but it seems not. On top of that, sloppy work. Full size hairs, just left without any clean up. For example, I had some still an inch or two where the top of my ear met my head, and even after pointing it out, she unsuccessfully runs a razor across the general area and assumes it's good (even though the hairs are still there). All that said, it's worth the wait on Doug or Frankie if you're a walk-in, or scheduling an appointment ahead of time. read more

Having moved into the area a little over a year ago, I have been scrambling around to find a good barber. I have tried several places, and well, this one isn't it. The first issue I had was with an Asian lady who left my hair looking like a half-plucked chicken. I didn't complain, but I was mortified until my hair grew back. After trying a couple other places I returned. I was the only person waiting, but I was a bit concerned because the same lady was there and I wondered how I could turn her down politely. Turns out, I wouldn't have to do that. A male customer walks in and from the conversation he had with an Asian male barber I could tell that 1. They were friends and 2. He had no appointment. Once the barber finished with his customer, he asked his friend to be seated. The barber avoided eye contact with me and I simply walked out. I went to run another errand and placed a search for a barber in La Plata which was great instead. Basically, this place is not worth the visit due to the quality, customer service, and the parking is horrendous. read more

I came to Bobs after many people recommended them to fix my son's messed up haircut. I spoke to Chris would was very kind and assured me they could help fix it. I did a walk in and had a female stylist. Chris remembered me from my desperate call earlier in the day. He was SO kind md didn't even charge me for the cut and tipped my stylist. He went above and beyond and the lady who did the haircut did a wonderful job and was also patient. Every staff person I talked to about the unfortunate haircut was personable and so kind. Decided to go here after reading some of the reviews and was pretty disappointed with not only the friendliness of the staff but the low quality of the haircut itself. When I walked in not a single one of the 4 barbers said a word and I was standing for almost a minute before the one closest to the door finally acknowledged me and said there was no sign in sheet. The wait time was not long but when I was called over to take a seat in the chair the barber barely spoke to me. She was texting several times throughout the 8 minute haircut. At the end she flashed the mirror for maybe 2 seconds to show the cut then ripped the cape off and walked over to the register. They failed to mention that they were a cash only establishment until it was time to pay, which isn't a huge deal, but would have been nice to know as well. An ATM was located inside but you're paying a surcharge to pull cash out for an already $22-$24 haircut. I would recommend going elsewhere if you're in need of a haircut. read more

Last year I went to Bob's, and after getting my hair cut by a few barbers (they did a good job) I finally met Shaun. It only took a couple haircuts for Shaun to know exactly what I wanted. Comparable to a military exchange cut, quantity over quality, just double the price... I said medium fade and just texturise the top and 8 minutes later, a super high fade and 2 inches cut off the top, now looking like I just got out of bootcamp. Although the barbers part with the nice shaving cream on the back of the neck was nice so I'll give it that! read more

I have been getting my hair cut at Bob's for over 20 years. Bob is my barber, but all of the staff are friendly and welcoming. I drive from Chesapeake Beach to Waldorf to go to Bob's because I truly enjoy the experience there. Bob is a wonderful guy and runs a business where you feel cared for. Bob's is an old fashioned shop in the best possible way. They cut men's hair with little fuss. They talk sports, have good up-to-date magazines, coffee and sometimes donuts. If you're looking for a traditional barber shop catering to regular guys, this is the place for you. They will treat you well. Waits are seldom very long. I go there once a month and have always, uniformly enjoyed the experience. Seriously, my trip to Bob's is one of the most pleasant parts of my monthly schedule. Give them a try. read more

I come here about once a month to get my hair cut. They stay fairly busy, but usually have enough staff on hand that you don't have to wait more than 15 minutes. The only downside is it is a cash only business, so you have to hit up the ATM before you come in. read more

As a former US Marine, I still keep my hair cut in a High and Tight. I had the same barber for many years here in Jacksonville, Florida and when he retired it took me a long time to find one I wanted to keep going to. So When I went to visit family in the Waldorf, MD area, I found that I needed a haircut so I asked where the best barber that the locals go to that do awesome military haircuts. I was sent here and to my appreciation they got it right the first time. I still remember the good ole days where they use a razor to shave the back of your neck and the warm lather. Walked in, sat down, and there were 3 others waiting to get helped. There were a total of 4 working, with 2 occupied cutting hair. The other 2 were busy reading a newspaper and outside smoking a cigarette. Was not acknowledged and within a few minutes 2 customers walked in and went right to the employees who at this point weren't doing anything. Sat a total of 20 min and still wasn't asked if I wanted a haircut. Got the picture at that point and got up and left and went somewhere else. read more

I've actually been to Bob's before with a friend of mine when he gets his haircut. He always walks out with a nice cut. However, I took my nephew there today for a simple shape up and it did not look good. It was incredibly uneven and I'm amazed the barber didn't notice it. Unfortunately, I didn't notice it til later that day when the shop had already closed and I had to fix it at home as best I could. I would not recommend the barber who did his shape up, but I don't know his name. Maybe shape ups aren't his thing. I feel so bad my nephew has to walk around with that haircut and I didn't notice it til it was too late for them to fix it and honestly I don't know if I would have let the same guy fix it. His mom was not happy. read more
