Bobby Jones course was remodeled and reopened not long ago (2025). It has a nature trail past the golf course entry that is quite nice with even greater potential. Fun to see peeps out swinging their clubs. The clubhouse has good food at very fair prices. Breakfast sandwich was tasty (can the bun be toasted?). A public course they try to keep prices reasonable and have specials and youth programs. Come hit some balls, grab a bite, or go for walk! Or rent a cart and go for a ride!!!! There is also a pro-shop with Bobby Jones gear. Tees. There are plans to tie the nature trail into 17th Street Park and the Legacy Trail. A wildflower area would be wonderful. Forrest Whittaker from IfAS at Twin Lakes Park can help. Also some volunteer days to pull caesar weed and Brazilian pepper along the nature trail would be good. The rangers are rude and pushy. Pace of play was slow. The course was dry with patchy grass and lots of weeds. Bunkers were not raked. There are lots of courses in Florida. Find a better one than Bobby Jones Golf Club. read more

Tried this new venue in Sarasota- not worth the $99 green fees (my opinion). Staff was nice and helpful but green speeds were uneven and some tee boxes were roughed up. One gentleman said they had 4000 rounds last month so the demand is there; hopefully, in time, the course will mature and be worth it. Multiple tee boxes but most holes are basically straight. I would recommend changing pin colors; we had difficulty finding certain pins due to overcast conditions and environmental distractions. Too new for gps to pick up course so I recommend bringing a range finder. read more

Really wanted to love this place. Staff is great. The overall experience is more like $60 rather than the $100 we paid. Course is ok. Temporary clubhouse. Greens really fast and nice. Fairways apparently not getting much water because grass is thin. And no red stakes marking hazards?? read more

The staff was very friendly. I was expecting alittle more challenge and pizzazz from this course. There is a well-stocked pro shop and a snack area with a few tables inside. Playing time was very slow but I guess that's par for the course everywhere in southern Florida. Some markers with hole numbers and arrows for cart paths would be nice. read more

Great time at the Par 3 Course! I arrived there late in the day. The gal working, Deena got me on the Par 3 quickly and was nice. I raced around on the golf cart hole to hole. The greens were great and everyone on the links were pleasant and I was asked if I wanted play thru since I was a single. In my fun Time, I had dropped my glasses from my shirt pocket on one the greens. Deena, said she would check while driving the greens. She found them, YAY! I recommend this course for all. Rhe fairways are as hard as a rock with very little grass. The greens were just as hard. We teed off at 11:00 and finished at 4:15! We were told the course needs time since it's not even a year since the new design opened. Well then you shouldn't be charging $89 to play. You lost some customers today!! read more

This review is for the Par 3 course only. The course is very rough and has not been maintained. There are only 6 carts so you have to walk as they are all taken. The yardages are not right on the holes and are very short. Mostly used pitching wedge or nine iron for the whole thing. Not good for men, maybe ok for beginners and women that are just learning to play. Not worth 30 dollars each. read more

I was looking forward to playing this course today because i'm very familiar about the history of Bobby Jones and Sarasota. I know this course is a work in progress. They have reserve fund that is part of rebuilding the course. I also get it this is the first year however what I can see so far is very uninspiring. Few holes are very different from the previous ones, the greens were in great shape, but we played there after two days of rain and as result we had to play cartpath only on a 94 degree day. The fairways were very, very soggy. They just rebuilt the course. I wonder why the drainage wasn't improved. Paul Azinger has his name on the road in. Hopefully he will influence the final product. I know there's a plan to build a clubhouse, but $6 draft beers and $4.50 Gatorades are the price point for a fully redesigned course not a rental hut on a marsh. Green Fee's are double what this course should be priced at until it's completed. Can't see paying $120 in the high season. read more

This is not an operational golf course right now; it's a fantastic paved trail for joggers and bicyclists and it is AWESOME! There's a ton of wildlife. Today we saw many turtles, two alligators, sandhill cranes, egrets, and more. Sooooo cool. I love this place!! Incredible, quiet place for a long contemplative walk. First off, I enjoyed the course layout. If properly maintained and managed a little differently, it could be a great addition to the area. There are a few things that I'd love to see addressed: 1. The course is very walkable, the most walkable I've played in Florida, but they've set a policy that does not allow walking until after 12pm. I wasn't given a reason, only that it was their policy, and the person at check in said I was welcome to walk but my bag had to be on the cart (say what?). If I'm walking while my bag is on the cart, how is that different from me walking with my pushcart? A little training as to how to explain why this policy is in place would be helpful, if they have one. Usually a carts-only policy is in place for either pace of play or revenue. Studies have shown that walking golfers have better focus, shoot lower scores, take less time to make each shot, and get more exercise. Considering that most golfers who prefer to walk easily keep up with their cart riding playing partners, pace of play shouldn't be a problem on such a walkable course. The fee can be the same whether you walk or ride, but there should be an opportunity to play the game the way Bobby Jones would have wanted to see it played, whatever time of day it is. 2. There should be a pricing tier for people who have a Sarasota address, but live outside the city limits. Because the course is situated at the edge of Sarasota's city limits, there are people who live across the street from the golf course who cannot get the reduced locals rate. Considering that there is a 40% discount for Sarasota city residents, a 20% discount for Sarasota County residents with a Sarasota address would go a long way to attracting more local golfers more often. I live closer to the course than most Sarasota city residents and would happily play this course multiple times each month with a 20% discount. Treat me like a snowbird and I'll likely only play it a time or two each year. Too many other solid options in the area. 3. The cart paths need a lot of work. Too many ruts and potholes for those riding carts. read more

Biggest rip off in the county. I rented clubs that were not a full set, and the grips wilted in my hand. The five iron had torn and rusted through the top of grip. When I mentioned it to the people in the pro shop, the guy told me, "thats how they get them." The greens are in okay shape, fairways are not. Go to Rolling Green Golf Club instead! We played the executive course. Dick on the executive course had a rather fitting name... We were taken aback by his elitist attitude. The greens were nice and we enjoyed the course. The fairways could use some work. The cart paths were not clearly marked but we were able to easily find our way. We would play here again but hope to avoid The Dick next time. read more

On vacation I was just looking for a nice get away from the family morning at any old course. This was the perfect place. I rented women's clubs fairly cheap and played 9 riding on the "British" side. I was alone and stuck behind some bigger groups but I didn't let it bother me it was just nice to be out there in the sun. The course is kept up. The traps were not filled with dry sand and some greens were under a little revamp. Altogether a great course for just a cheaper game. I'll be back next year. read more

Our daughters played their first rounds on the Ececutive Course so we have an attachment to Bobby Jones. We have found the staff friendly and helpful. If you are walking it is a bargain and healthy. We always want to play here whenever we are at LBK. The building is old and could stand a facelift but the city of Sarasota has finally recognized they have something important here and are working on a plan for an upgrade. Very little happens here quickly. The dinning room is a little dark but we have found lunch here to be tasty and fairly priced. read more

Cow pasture with nice greens. Had fun just hitting the ball and enjoying the sun. Not for serious golfers. Good sense of direction helps. Poorly marked tee locations. $68 for 2 with power cart and one set of rental clubs. Clubs are in fair condition. Not cleaned so no groves. read more

We played the American course and it was in horrible shape. The greens were good, but the rest looked like it was under construction. There were many men driving around on maintenance trucks. There were ruts, huge sand patches and it looks like it hasn't been mowed in weeks. By the 7th hole I stopped playing b/c it was so awful. We live in FL and play great courses for $20 in the summer, this place wasn't worth $5. They should have warned us when we called to make a tee time. read more

Had lunch there with a group of friends. It's kind of dark and dingy. Some of our meals were fine and the prices were fair (the home made potato chips are great) but the fruit salad had only five pieces of not-so-great-looking fruit so my friend sent it back to the kitchen. Her follow up order never arrived at the table. The waitress was trying to serve too many diners to stay on top of our needs. Also, there was a huge table of loud people right next to us, so it was hard to have a conversation. I could put up with all this but the womens' bathroom was dirty- toilet paper everywhere and dirty floors. The restaurant floor didn't look much cleaner. (yes it's a golf course and people track in dirt, but it didn't look like they had vacuumed it in days). I have no clue if the kitchen is any cleaner.. I know it's a municipal club, but they need to clean it up a bit. read more

The course was in bad condition with major hacks in the greens. People were hitting into us from behind, balls flying right past us and not even a heads up. Arrived at 6:01pm. Had a tee time at 6 and ran into traffic on the way here. They closed up the pro shop right in front of me and wouldn't let me play. The guy "Richard" (hoping he goes by Dick, would be all too appropriate) was a complete ass hole about it. They were all elitist snobs with sticks up their asses. Rude and inconsiderate. The only person who was polite and tried to help was the bartender, but there wasn't much she could do. After being shut down for being 1 minute late, I checked out the course. Its shit. Save your money. The greens are dinged and beat up beyond belief and the fairways are about the same. The pro shop and the bar was dark and dirty. How on earth is this supposed to be the nicest one around!? I've played courses back in Ohio that are cheaper and nicer than this one. I expected much more. read more

Went to play the Executive Course which is a mostly par 3 course. The course is good if you are looking to improve your short game or have an hour to kill. Most people walk but a few ride. The main draw back to this course is that it poorly marked. Most of us first timers had to ask other golfers where the next tee was. There were few defined paths and you had to hunt for the bridges needed to cross to the greens on at least three holes. Signs and arrows are really needed on this course. read more

An old lady serving as a golf guide kept following us around also like we were some sort of trouble makers or something. Absolutely horrible golf course. Arrived at 7:30 for a tee time with my son. It looks like it's from the 70's and has not been renovated since. No place to buy any drinks until 9:00 or 9:30 and NO water available according to the guy who rang us up. It's Florida in June and you have no drinks?? Course condition was deplorable. Half the greens were completely destroyed and everything but the fairways were overgrown and unkept. Workers would run mowers and blowers right near by you, regardless of whether you were putting or teeing off. Want a cheap outing, this is the place. But if you are expecting a nice round on your vacation, avoid at all cost. read more

DO NOT PLAY GOLF HERE! Me and my buddies went golfing at Bobby Jones and had the absolute worst golfing experience ever. After they told us we could golf in our group the bobby jones staff members decided while we in the middle of our golf game that our group was too big. We would have happily separated our group into two groups to accommodate their rules had they told us before we started. Instead they came over to us and started yelling at us. The most notable of these staff members was a man who's last name was "Hopkins". Hopkins needs to be fired as soon as possible because of his lack of respect for the customers. He literally told a very nice respectable young man whom is my friend to "Shut-up!". We payed for 18 holes and they tried to get us to skip 3 holes. Not to mention their tee boxes were basically dirt and half of their greens are used for multiple holes. They are disrespectful and overpriced.
