La Belle Miette - Beautiful macaron display at La Belle Miette in Melbourne.

This place is said to have THE best macarons in Melbourne. That is a bold statement and it is accurate. I got a box of all their flavors to find out which ones I'd like and another box of flavors I'm pretty sure I would love: green tea, salted caramel and hazelnut. Their green tea macaron is heaps better than the ones I've had from L.A. (Bottega Louie, Mitsuwa and small shops in Japantown). Their hazelnut macaron is better than (I'm sorry I'm not being a traitor) Laduree. There! I said it! They have the usual chocolate, vanilla, rose, lavender, raspberry, etc. Those were good but really, you have to have green tea, salted caramel and hazelnut. The macarons come in cute boxes. Just like Laduree and Bottega Louie, if you don't ask for the hard box - they'll give you the flimsy box. You have to pay extra for the hard box but if you're transporting them elsewhere, it's worth it. They currently only have 2 locations. If you're in Melbourne, you need to find this place.

Five solid Yelp stars!…read more Seriously, this place is exquisite - it's a dream come true for all macaron lovers! It's a cute little shop, with the feel of a story book setting and tucked in a small alley of Melbourne's walkway - quaint and adorable! On display, there are a few choices of elegant pastel colored pastries. Although flavours here are quite limited, each one they served tasted extraordinary! Every flavour here is delicious and each has its distinct taste from fruity and floral to chocolatey fantastic! At $2.60-$2.80 a piece, it's a small price for the luxurious quality they served. Some of my favourites: salted caramel, Paris brest filled with hazelnut (a must!), grey earl and chocolate and blueberry and violet! These are probably the best macarons I've ever had! Yes, to me, La Belle Miette tasted better than the famed Bottega Louis in Los Angeles. I'm in LOVE!

She was very happy when she seen them. The staff in the shop were very helpful and accommodating. For 4 small cupcakes it cost $18 dollars and were ready fresh made after 1 day. Which I felt was a bargain. The taste was as good as the design!! So if your looking for a birthday cake or cupcake designs for a special occasion or just for any old reason for a cupcake, drop in here!!

The black sesame macaroon had no real flavour of black sesame. It was quite unfortunate, but the macroon still had that thin crisp layer that cracks to reveal a chewier sweet center. The deluxe strawberry cheesecake however did have various flavours running through it that gave it a cheesy, sweet cheesecake experience. It was even rolled in cookie crumbs for that extra bit of authenticity. Plus the strawberry layer was packed with strawberry goodness. The mini cupcakes do look very cute, and they have some interesting flavours available. So would I come back? Yep, and I'd try another deluxe macarons or perhaps a Rose Pistachio cupcake. Mmm, I haven't been able to stop thinking about that one.

The Degani franchise chain has been responsible for some gorgeous transformations and Highpoint is probably one if the best examples if this. Unfortunately this is not one of them. The coffee and pastry selection has improved and is up to scratch, but toasted sandwiches are not gourmet and selling chocolates does not make you a deli. Baked goods come from offsite and the baristas are reasonable but not outstanding. This effort pleases the locals but does not attract passing motor vehicle traffic. Foot traffic is limited as at the end of the day it is a local strip mall but nevertheless, unless you want to head towards High St Kew, Doncaster, Box Hill Central or where Laurent is at Whitehorse Rd Balwyn then this is about as good as you will get on Belmore Rd.

The second time however was a little better. The service again wasn't excellent but it wasn't awful either. It was more the little things you'd expect in terms of service. The portion sizes were decent and the food was good. I did find that the selection wasn't very wide and there weren't many muffins or cakes on offer. In conclusion the food itself was average but a little overpriced and the service wasn't great either.

And with…read morethat kind of skill, it's no wonder that his bread graces the tables of some of Melbourne's top Good Food Guide Hatted restaurants and fashionable cafes. The breads are sourdough leavened which means they are not coeliac friendly. My favourites are the whole grain sourdough, baguettes, Pain de Mie (brioche loaf), chocolate Viennoise and the garlic sourdough that has whole cloves of sweet roasted garlic. Noisette in my opinion make the best and most authentic, flaky, buttery croissant and Pain au Chocolat. Also on offer are hand made chocolates, beautiful patisserie: cakes - individual and occasion sized - macarons, danish, tarts, sable breton, brownies and more. Something that makes Noisette unique is speciality items made for French festive calendar events like Galette des Rois and Buche de Noel. David was one of the Patissier/ Boulangeres that came to Australia to start up Laurent, so you may see a similarity in the sandwiches, filled baguettes and Croque Monsieur. But I think they are much better value here plus half portions are available. You can practice your French on the cheery staff and they happen to make a decent coffee too. Is it any wonder I've been a regular since they opened?
