I had the process explained to me and expectations for interior parts that I wanted wrapped. I would like to congratulate Ken and his team on running what I would call a five star business. I…read morebrought my car to Ken in desperation after having taken my car to three other mechanics to try and fix a problem that I had with my car early on after buying if from a second hand car yard. The car yard I bought it off did not seem to know how to fix it or even want to fix it, and I even took it to the Dealership and they could not even fix it, but instead diagnosed the problem as something else and put in a part that it did not even need, still leaving me with a car that would not start very well. Ken at each step of the way was so helpful, professional, thorough and knowledgeable, but most of all polite and respectful. My car is running beautifully now and is fixed, thanks to Ken. I will not look any further for a Mechanic, as far as I am concerned I have found the best Mechanic in Australia, and I am so very happy with the overall service and experience. Thank you.

She has great instincts for finding the best transport companies and was able to get my Porsche on the road in a few days at a really decent price. It arrived in perfect condition and the transport company kept in constant contact and was very prompt. Call Linda if you need a car transported--she IS the best.

I'm a size 8-10 and I always walk out with something I'm really excited about! They have two racks you have to check out - the "everything $2" wrack (which has some cool stuff and some of your laughable awfuls) and my personal favourite - the" fill a bag got $5!) it's always full and always has some cool stuff! I got a super cute cue skirt in there once! They are great for books too, there is a wall bookshelf that has got good quality books on it, some even brand new, and cheap as chips, only a few dollars a book for a new perfect new condition one. shoes and jewellery too, their stock is always rotating so even if you are a regular like I am there is something new for you. Not too good for furniture because of its size but there is a superstore just a few minutes drive away if you are looking for that. (lifeline superstore on sandgate Rd, also yelpable) Five stars for this little northside gem!

With my severe incense aversion, it's amazing I even set foot inside this store. But I had one goal…read more- to get to the soap. Not because I was emitting a stench of any sort, but because the handmade "artisan" soaps in here look utterly, irresistably delicious. They look like frothy, creamy slices of cake (complete with beautifully decorated swirls of "icing"), and they smell absolutely divine. With names like Cherry Blossom and Berrylicious, I'm sure you get my drift. And it only cost $9 to smell that damn good. The rest of the store was your typical hippie fare (fisherman's trousers, smock tops made of Indian cotton etc) - although it wasn't as "batik" and traveller-esque as I've seen in some stores of this ilk - it's a little chicer and the ranges are a little bit more well chosen.

This double rainbow style shop isn't everyone's cup of tea. With a lot of loose fitting tie-died…read moreclothing and a hippyish vibe, I'm sure the owners of this place migrated from Nimbin. It may not be for everyone, but I love stores like this. I wouldn't say that I'm a big tie-die wearer, but I really like some of their other clothes. They also have great service, with the lovely lady working at the time I was visiting absolutely delighting shoppers with her kindness (I saw one customer decide she deserved a hug in return). As I wandered aimlessly through the store, I came across a table with a variety of handmade soaps. As the sign invited me to, I picked one up and smelled it, then another and another. They all smelled absolutely divine. I was sorely tempted to purchase one, but I never use bars of soap (I do use other cleansing products, don't worry). I've made a mental note of their range, in permanent marker, if I ever do start though.

I've been lucky enough to inherit an old vacuum cleaner, but recently was cursing the thing as I…read morecouldn't find a vacuum cleaner bag to fit it anywhere. I tried a number of different Retrovision stores, all of whom were bewildered with the model and serial number I was providing for my vacuum cleaner. Finally, someone suggested I try Godfreys Indooroopilly and hallelujah, without batting an eyelid, the store attendant pulled out a pack of bags to fit my machine. I can't remember exactly how much they cost--around $12.50 for 5, I think--but I remember thinking the price was extremely reasonable. I highly recommend Godfreys to anyone looking for ANYTHING to do with a vacuum cleaner!

A mother-daughter trip to West End is never complete without a visit to this place - my mum…read moreabsolutely loves it. Don't stop reading! She actually has pretty funky taste in shoes. I've never seen so many Doc Martens anywhere else (my mum does not wear Doc Martens). They have plenty of other big brands like Birkenstock, Florsheim and Sketchers. There's a lot of great stuff here; quality shoes that look stylish and unique but also look like they would be comfortable. There's heaps of stuff for men as well, with the place seeming to be equally popular between the sexes.

Shays Shoes was established in 1901! How crazy is that? My friend's Mum was telling me about how…read morewhen she used to work in West End in the early 70s, she'd go to Shays Shoes after work and gaze longingly at their range of shoes and wait until she'd earned enough money to go and blow some of her paycheck there. I love that Shays Shoes has been around for so long and is still selling many of the brands that they sold back in the 70s. They still sell a big range range of Dr. Martens, Birkenstocks, and Hush Puppies. Maybe one of the reasons that Shays Shoes has been around for so long is that they manage to cater for everyone. Whether you're a youth wanting a pair of floral-patterned docs, a Mum wanting some Birkenstocks, or a Grandma after some comfy Hush Puppies, Shays has always been the place to find a treat for your feet. I bought Docs here a few years back and they were so helpful and lovely and I still enjoy browsing their new stock when I'm in the area. Some things are built to last and Shays Shoes is one of them.

Karene A is right, those looking for a second hand store experience that earns them hipster cred or…read morekitsch points should look elsewhere for their fix. That's not to say that you won't find items that fit that bill at the Red Hill Salvos Store but it's unlikely. Red Hill Salvos has been a spot I've spent many a hour searching for homewares, books and on the odd occasion kooky costumes for a 70s highschool teacher inspired photo shoot. This is the spot you come to if you're looking for something unique for your home- something that tells a story and stands out from the run of the mill flat pack furniture. On many occasions I've found (much to my delight) fantastic crystal pieces including small milk jugs perfect for the kitchen table, vases and other knick knacks for my home. If you're in the market for larger furniture items that tell a story and have a bucket load of character then be sure to wander into their back shed area where you'll find enough desks, dining tables, chairs and wardrobes to fit any decor or need. While I've done my fair share of 'shopping' here it has also been a fine spot to give items I no longer need a new home. Books, clothes and other kitchen items that I no longer need are donated to a good cause and handing them directly to their warehouse teams means I'm safe in the knowledge my donations are not being ruined by weather waiting for a donation bin to be emptied.

Rummaging through the piles of second-hand goods here, one is sure to pick up a bargain antique…read moretreasure. While it's not the place to pick up quality retro clothing, you will find plenty of old picture frames, antique furniture (banged up antique furniture but it's all about character, right?), vinyl records, old-school suitcases and shelves and shelves full of cute little statues and retro kitchenware that all looks like it should be in Grandma's kitchen. Their pricing system is a little haphazard; the price markers seem to know the value of some of the antique items but overlook others. Sometimes I can pick up an old suitcase or port for $20 whereas on other visits the same sort and quality item will be upwards of $50. There are definitely bargains to be had if you visit regularly though. As well as lots of really old stuff (I'm full of such technical terms), they also have plenty of newer second hand furniture, linen, toys, sports equipment and a section with discounted supermarket items such as toilet paper, shampoo, detergent etc.
