Bob did all our road, power turn up, and excavation for our cabin. He runs an excellent outfit.

Groves was hired to level off a small field and prepare a level pad for us to put a building on for…read moreour goats. I showed him the area where we wanted the pad and told him the areas that I wanted him to scrape the hay off and the area where the pad was going to be located and where I didn't want him to do anything. There was a pallet made from pressure treated wood that I didn't want anything done with and a large pile of glass bottles that I didn't want anything done with by him. I instructed him to not go to that side of the field. He arrived on the scheduled day and we moved the animals that were in the field to an adjacent paddock. He began his work and cleared the area where the pad was going to be placed and then proceeded into the area that he had been instructed not to go and drove his equipment over the large pile of glass bottles shattering large numbers of them and depositing the rest of them in the dip in the field along with the pressure treated pallet and large amounts of dirt. I now have a field that is littered with broken glass that I will have to gather by hand and I will also need to dig out the pallet of wood and the unbroken bottles as they can't be left where they are for the animals to walk on. The pad that he put in is not square and is not suitable for the size building that we had planned to build. He left a large mound of shale in the driveway that I will need to pick up and move. He demonstrated poor judgement by driving over the bottles where he knew we keep animals. I would never hire him to do any work on my farm again. I feel that he is incapable of working without direct supervision and would not recommend his service to anyone who has animals or needs someone who can work without direct oversight.

We hired Chris to expand my outdoor arena by 10m in width. After promising to be finished in 1-2…read moreweeks, 8 weeks later he left me with a ring that I can't ride in at all (the base and sand is completely uneven and unlevel, sand is too deep to the point the horses trip and fall, and the fencing is incomplete and unsafe with nails sticking out). The arena was not groomed/harrowed and still had piles of sand when he left. He said he would come back to "rake them by hand" because his machinery couldn't reach the edge - any arena builder should have equipment that can properly groom a ring, but he also never returned to do this. He promised to come back and fix the fence and never did. I have since gotten several estimates from reputable companies to fix his work that are at least the same amount I paid him. This was a huge investment for me and I am so disappointed that someone would take advantage of a customer like this. The work is just shoddy and I now can't ride in the arena at all without risking injury to myself or my horses. He was aware of the problems, admitted that they were problems and should be fixed, and was given ample opportunity to do so. He was uncommunicative and very hard to get a hold of once the project was underway. I wish I could give him zero or negative stars but the review seems to require at least one.
