We had a small wedding of 46 guests total, and PCC made us feel very welcome and special. Ariel was fantastic in coordinating the day and answering my MANY questions before the wedding and the day of, to make me feel completely confident and comfortable. Luckily, since it was a Friday wedding, we were able to set up most of the decorations ourselves the day before and the staff did a great job of finishing up the setup the day of. I was very pleased with the staff packing up the entire venue at the end of the night and even packing it for us into my parent's vehicle! The venue has beyond amazing photo opportunities with the tree-lined road coming in and the hills and greenery in the back. We did our first look at the adorable stone potting shed out front. The food was delicious and had guests raving about it. We felt confident in the food having gone to PCC's wedding tasting event a few months before. We loved our wedding at the Portsmouth Country Club!

We'll start with the pluses. The room was clean and tidy and generally taken care of. The staff was…read morecheery and cared about their work. The food was neutral which I suppose it was to be to make everyone happy. Eggs, bacon, the same saugage sold in every restaraunt in Southern New Hampshipe, potatoes, cereal, ham carving station, omelette station, and a desert station. Risks taken included a tuna salad thing, quinoa asparagus mess, and another item so unremarkable as to be completely forgotten. Which is what I fear happened to these three items left to die a lonely death on a side table by themselves. There was a stuffed fish which had more stuffing than fish, which is ok if stuffing good. In this case it was a mash of spinach and blech that I did not bother to decipher. The promising looking cinnamon rolls revealed themselves to be impenetrable stones that perhaps were once fresh. This caused me to abandon the entire continental table all together. They did have two items that were different than at other places. There was a Pb&J stuffed French toast with chocolate. The kids loved this. Good job. Their other was lobster Mac & Cheese. No one does this on a buffet and here's why. The animals eating at the buffet picked all the lobster out first. From what I could tell the lobster was not cooked into the cheese sauce, but rather tossed in at the last minute. Which is too bad as the vultures removed all lobster flavor along with the meat. Extreme disappointment set after I needed to sort past 5 dirty dishes before resorting to using bowl. With that many dirty in a row, I suspect someone had fallen asleep or required the services of an eye doctor. Finally, when I go to a place called Country Club I expect my fellow diners to be dressed at least in business causual clothing. This occasion was Easter Brunch, but there were far too many people in jeans and a tee shirt. Granted, it was new tee shirts bought earlier that day at Walmart so I suppose they tried. I'd suggest the PCC begin using a no denim and collared shirt requirement. The good people of coastal NH should not be left up to their own fashion devices.

Her prices are extremely reasonable, the quality is excellent, and the turn-around time is fast. Her studio is large and well-lit. If you need/want input, Sandy will offer several suggestions and will lay out options. If you know what you want - no problem! She'll make sure it's exactly that. She has an enormous array of frames and mats and does amazing work on wrapped canvases and shadow boxes as well as more traditional art framing. I've had five items framed at Mill River in the last two years, and will bring future artwork only to her. Sandy is friendly and welcoming, and treats a new customer as if you've been friends for years. She's self-deprecating and has a wonderfully dry sense of humor. Her work time estimates are always right on the nose. I whole-heartedly recommend Sandy and Mill River Custom Framing.

At the Revolutionary war era Pitt Tavern (built c. 1766), I learned that taverns were required to provide housing for people and horses, and to act as community centers that could house overflow hospital patients during widespread emergency situations.
