I initially found Morgan at Ouidad about four years ago, and she is the best hair stylist in Los Angeles. In fact, I'm convinced she's the best stylist on the East or West Coast of the United States. I've searched all my life for a stylist who could handle these coarse 3B curls and manage to keep my hair long without thinning it out at the bottom. Morgan is the first one out of dozens who has not only miraculously made to make my hair look better than it ever has, but whose work is consistently exceptional. Most importantly, she never cuts more than I ask her to. Previous stylists would insist on cutting extra so it would "grow faster" (despite my protests), but that never happened. Despite my wishes to the contrary, my hair stayed just below my shoulders most of my life, to the point where I eventually spent several years wearing costly extensions down to my waist in order to create an illusion of length.
As it turns out, I have several autoimmune diseases that were preventing it from growing at a normal rate, so "cutting extra" wasn't doing me any good. Morgan was the first stylist to listen to what I wanted and only trim the split ends each time. Unlike previous stylists who chided me for not coming in "every 6 weeks" as they suggested (what, so they could make my hair EVEN shorter?), Morgan lets me judge how often I feel the need to have a haircut. Thanks to her intelligence and sensitivity to my requests, my hair is finally down to my waist for the first time in my life (WITHOUT extensions), and it is thick and healthy all the way to the bottom. Actually, it's even grown past my waist at this point! While better vitamins that I've recently started taking may have contributed a little to how it's starting growing more quickly, having a talented stylist contributed most significantly to my hair's ability to grow to this length. After the cut, Morgan styles it flatteringly every time and even gives me tips on how to style it myself. She is friendly, professional, capable, and I would say she takes hairstyling to a level of art.
Whenever I think of living somewhere outside LA, one of my first thoughts is "but where would I get my hair done?" As it turns out, I am going to be moving out of the country next year. But I'm not worried about my hair, because Morgan would be worth flying back for every few months. If you have curly or wavy hair, don't hesitate! She's a treasure and I'm lucky I found her. read more
