Lyndsey Roberts Bridal Collection - I said yes to the dress!

Unfortunately due to family health issues I had to go alone and the staff was so supportive. I found the perfect dress that I hadn't seen anywhere else that was a sample with great pricing. I found a similar dress but with some differences online for $900 more! Not worth the pockets lol I will be having my wedding at their venue as well and Lyndsey has kept me informed and been so patient with my millions of questions. The dress was slightly over budget but the venue was under budget so it all balanced out!

I went to pick up the dress midweek.  The shop was busy and I was asked to try on the dress in a "pop-up" dressing room (It was just like the shower costume in the Karate Kid movie) on the display floor with people walking by.  The length wasn't even close despite the measurements, and the zipper would not zip.  I was asked to wait until the owner arrived, as only one girl was working. The owner arrived, was unable to get the zipper to work and broke it altogether.   The store agreed to pay for the zipper replacement (which they did), and I had to pay $46 to have the dress hemmed.  I was then told that the shop does not send items out for alterations. You have to take it yourself. They have 2 seamstresses: one in Holly Hill and one in New Smyrna Beach.  I was then asked to sign another document stating that I picked up the dress and agreed to pay for any alterations.   The nearest seamstress was 1 1/2 hours from my home.  She did a great job and I finally have a dress.  In hindsight, I would have gone to J.C. Penney or Dillard's, bought a dress, gotten alterations locally, and been done with it.  That would have likely cost less than the $350 paid in the end, and definitely involved a lot less headache.

I booked and paid for a consultation with Lady Strut Gowns (Shawna Grant) in March for my…read moredaughter's prom dress. My daughter originally wanted a the look could be done or at least closely achieved. That is what I paid for. My daughter selected a dress (which was under budget), leaving room for customization. The owner also made it clear that she does not sell the same dress to multiple students, which built additional trust in her process. From there, everything became inconsistent. What was said in person did not match what was communicated through text. At one point, I was told via text that achieving the look would require a redesign of the gown and that due to the structure of the dress, it would not look exactly like the reference photo. I understood that. However, in person, I was repeatedly told that the look could be done and that we could get very close to it. At no point during the consultation was it clearly communicated that the dress could not be achieved in a comparable way. That difference in communication is what led me to move forward and continue investing additional money into the process and things she said was needed. After paying invoices for materials and services, no real progress was made on the original design. When I didn't like the appliqués she suggested, I was told to go find my own--which I did and purchased myself. Then after my daughter selected a second look (which she again confirmed she could do), I was sent another invoice and paid again--even though nothing had been completed from the first design. All of this started in March. Fast forward to the week of prom. Sunday, I was told materials were delayed and that she would reach out once everything came in. Monday passed with no communication. I reached out Tuesday and was told, "I thought you were coming up here," even though no time or clear purpose was ever given. At that point, I asked her to complete the dress and send a picture before finalizing instead of going back and forth. Late that night, almost 1 AM, she sent a picture of the dress. The dress looked nothing like what was discussed. I addressed it immediately and respectfully. Instead of working toward a solution, she became defensive and told me if I was unsure of her work, I could come pick up the dress and let someone else do it--two days before prom. I made it clear I was not unsure of her work, but what she sent was not even close to the design we agreed on. We were then told to come up there. My daughter left work early and still did not get to properly try on the dress. When I saw it in person, it still looked nothing like the reference photos. She then claimed that I told her I no longer wanted the original look, which is not true. The only adjustment I requested was lowering part of the design to accommodate my daughter's hairstyle. At that point, she said she could fix it--but would need to be compensated again for her time. Keep in mind, she had already been paid since March and had not completed the work as agreed. Another payment was made, and I was told the dress would be ready by 5 PM. Then it became 7 PM. Around 7:30 PM, I received a call saying the material wasn't working and the material she requested now need to be removed to get the look. At this point, the design looked nothing like what was discussed. It looked rushed and completely off from the vision that was presented and agreed upon. Another major issue throughout this process was the lack of accountability. At one point, I was told that I "picked the tulle," which is not accurate. In our text messages, I was only asked to choose a color that was closest to the dress--not the type of material. There was never a conversation where I selected or approved the actual material needed to achieve the design. I do not design dresses. I do not sew professionally. That is her field of expertise. When a client provides inspiration photos and trusts a business owner to execute a look, it is the responsibility of that professional to determine what materials are required--not shift that responsibility onto the client after the fact. I asked her to remove the material and simply add the appliqués throughout the dress. I also requested a refund for the materials and services that were no longer being used. That is when the situation became completely unprofessional. She began yelling on the phone, hung up on me, and sent nasty voice messages stating she did not like how I was barking out orders. She then said she would only partially refund me and that someone else shostating she did not like how I was barking out orders. She then said she would only partially refund me and that someone else should pick up the dress. When my ddaughter went to pick it up, they were made to wait outside for 15-20 minutes, despite her stating previously that no dress leaves without a fitting. She then came outside recording-with scissors in her hand.

There were a multitude of issues for the wedding. 1…read more Super hot day in April 2025 and no water or beverages were available to the wedding party or guests. 2. Tall tables on the patio were partially decorated. One table didn't even have a tablecloth on it. 3. Decorations were styrofoam balls cut in half with fake flowers from a discount store stuck in them. 4. The groom provided specific seating charts for the reception. The event planner totally ignored them, seating several of the groom's family members at separate tables. 5. Food - They ran out of food after 6 tables had served themselves from the buffet. My table finally got up to see why we hadn't been called and were told they were out of food. They didn't even have any more plates available. I asked one of the helpers and was told they didn't have anyone to wash dishes and, therefore, didn't have any clean plates. I found Lyndsey and asked for clean plates and more food and her reply was "everyone before you took too much". {Most event planners/caterers know to have the guests hold their plates while the food is dished up by an employees. This provides portion control and also speeds up the line. So, the grooms mother, father, brothers, and about 15 other tables did not get any food.) 6. The wedding cake sat on an antique table with no linens, plates, or cutlery. Everyone had to be out of the venue by 10 pm, and as we were leaving, we realized the cake had not been cut. No one was there to cut the cake. As a guest hurriedly tried to cut it and pass it out, we found out there were 2 sheet cakes in a refrigerator that would not be used since people had left. 7. Photography - They spent 2 hours or more after the wedding taking pictures. The bride's family were all included. Some of the groom's relatives from out of state were not included. There should have been a list of all photos and people to include. 8. Bar - the bartenders were not actually bartenders. They were employees of the wedding dress shop Lyndsey owns. Drink choices were very limited due to their lack of experience. I don't normally give negative reviews but feel that potential clients need to be aware that this is not a professional wedding planner. Buyer Beware!
