It made a great home base for exploring the area. We stayed in Site 66. While the site itself was nice, it was a little closer to Highway 101 than I would have preferred. Next time, I would choose a site farther back in the campground for a quieter experience. The campground amenities were clean and well-maintained. They offer showers, restrooms, tv hookups, and a small on-site store stocked with basic necessities. They also sell firewood, which was very convenient. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely consider returning, especially if we could snag a site a bit deeper in the park.

And, if you're lucky enough to get a space at Ocean Views RV Park, you're definitely lucky. Across the street is the ocean. Ocean Views is a small, clean, quiet, and relaxing RV park in Smith River, California. Only 4 miles from the Oregon border. Across the street is the Pacific Ocean and her miles of amazing, beautiful, rugged beaches (see pics). A wonderful retreat from the craziness of life. Solid consistent Wi-Fi. We like to turn on a YouTube fireplace in the mornings & evenings. The NEW owners at Ocean Views are great!!! My wife and I are healthy adventurers and have spent the last few years traveling around in our motorhome and enjoying our beautiful country. We've been to over 40 states, and this is perhaps our very favorite destination!!! Plus, it's the first summer ever that we didn't need to turn on our air conditioner. Total comfort. Some affectionately refer to the area as the banana belt because of the consistent moderate year-round temperatures. Also, there is usually a nice, gentle breeze. AMAZING BEACHES: You can walk or drive to the Beaches. Fly kites. Wind surf. Collect shells, sand dollars, pretty rocks, build driftwood beach houses, or driftwood art. We actually walked to Oregon and back via the beach (4 hr round trip -- mucho fun - and we've done it twice so far). Or you can just do nothing. That's also fun. Sitting and watching the ocean is like watching the Earth breathe. But once you start exploring, you discover Sea Otters, lots of Seals, and Sea Lions. In the evening until sunset, you can watch the seals and pelicans dive near the shore for their fish dinners. Sunsets are often breathtaking. Lucky 7 Casino is about 2 blocks away. It's a nice, small tribal casino/ hotel with a good restaurant and bar. Lucky 7 gas station / convenience store always has the best fuel and propane prices. Brookings, Oregon is only about 8 miles North. Crescent City, California is only 18 miles South. The drive to either is always enjoyable. But watch out for deer & Elk. Brookings: Cool Marina area to explore. Fred Meyer is a great supermarket. Good prices and fun place to shop. Pretty town. Small movie theater (been there). Lots of shops and so many excellent restaurants. Le Flour de Mexico had delicious crab enchiladas & excellent margaritas. DQ (Dairy Queen) for a dip cone (yum). Wild River Pizza. Mattie's Pancake House (awesome online menu). And many more awesome eateries we still look forward to enjoying!!! Nice self-service car wash across from the DQ. We drive to Brookings to wash our Jeep and RV. It's funny to tell friends and family, "Yeah, we had to drive to Oregon to wash our Jeep." ha ha. Crescent City: Safeway with good cinnamon rolls, Walmart, Home Depot. Lots of stores, shops, excellent restaurants. Many fun places to eat. And also, a nice movie theater (been there). In addition to the usual theater snacks like popcorn, we discovered they also make fresh cotton candy & have pool tables. We enjoyed walking around the Marina and seeing the huge commercial fishing boats. Great fish and chips, and shrimp and chips at the Chart Room on the waterfront at the Marina. Nice beaches. And a working Lighthouse. Other stuff to do: Redwood forest. Kayak down Smith River, and so much more!!! All of the above creates a GOOD kind of to-do list. Just a few of the many reasons why we fell in love with the area and our base camp at Ocean Views RV Park. At the time of this writing, we started our third month!!! Lovin it & having a hard time leaving. Hope you love it also. Everything is so close and fun to explore.

Most of the residents were welcoming and helpful but I was next to one that thought they own the place. When I first pulled in there was a car parked on my site. I went to the office and they told me just to knock on doors and find out whose it is and ask them to move it. Shouldn't this be the hosts job?? It turned out to be the permanent resident next door. They started complaining bc I woke them up and they worked late then they moved their car 2 feet closer to their spot which was still in my space and not enough room for me to get my 17ft camper in. So they parked it in another open spot to inconvenience someone else. They also had their dog tie outs attached to my hook ups. Their rat dogs barked nonstop and you smell their shit just under my window. They also smoked and it came right into my windows. I went out with my dogs the next day and when I returned they had a truck parked right up against my camper and on my water line and the car was parked on their patio slab which is supposed to be against park rules. Maybe if the host got out and checked sites a few times a day and someone did some maintenance it could be a beautiful place.

Ingvar moved on and the park suffered because the gal, Lisa who took her place is incompetent and talks rude to guests depending on her mood. They took accommodations away from the long-term guests and are very dishonest... Lisa bad mouths and gossips about the guests with other guests and slanders the company. My husband took a Dr.s recommended permission to use the showers which the Mngmnt demanded . He is disabled and required more space to shower as his condition worsened after we were there more than a year. Then they changed the pass codes without telling him on a Friday... no notice or explanation were provided. On the following Monday when we inquired why they locked him out Trish told him it was because I used the women's shower. When Trish gave Me the new code she said it was for " You guys" (my husband and I ). In writing! Then she refused to answer my calls and emails, even running away from me to avoid talking with me. (Very odd ) I cannot believe we were paying for extra dumpsters because the maintenance guy; Ray was throwing building materials and old tables , shelves and beds in our appointed dumpster. I suggested a community meeting and then Kelly lost his shower rights! People were leaving and moving away because the behavior of Lisa and increased rent and utilities were out of control. This is only the tip of the iceberg but enough to let everyone know what they may be stepping in if they stay there now.
