We came for mother's day. The service was good, but the place was trashed. The food was not to our liking.

The Old Bank. Wow. What to say about this place? Definitely a dive bar. The crowd varies a lot…read moredepending upon when you go there. Weekend afternoons, it's typically a mix of bikers, tourists, and the boating crowd, with a sprinkling of locals blended in for flavor. Don't let the biker thing scare you - these aren't kitten-shanking, hell-raising hard core bikers we're talking about, but middle-age Harley enthusiasts who are far more likely to spend their days running construction crews or spreadsheets than drugs. Ok place to take your family for a quick burger in the afternoon or evening. After 9:00 pm, the bros take over, especially weekends, and you're better off finding someplace else. The interior is definitely worn to a fine patina, and decorated with typical bar kitsch and local memorabilia. There is a pool table, a few dartboards, some arcade games, a bunch of TV screens and a jukebox to break the routine, if you're determined to make an evening of it. They offer a full bar, and that includes several beers on tap. The help is friendly - most of them have been there forever. They do a pretty good job, but things do get busy sometimes. The menu is modest - all pretty much your typical bar and grill food. Feeds the need, but nothing to write home about. The burgers, for all that, are actually pretty good, and I'd probably call them the highlight. The ground beef comes from Huettl's Meats, our local butcher shop that's just up the street, rather than a shrink-wrapped plastic tube of god knows what from some restaurant supplier. The kitchen is open late, which is a good thing in a town where pretty much all the eateries close at 8 or 9 pm, and your only other choice is the gas station convenience store heat lamp buffet.

What a fun night we had the people are so friendly, and the bartender was the best, I will…read moredefinitely be back.

My family stopped in for lunch on a July Friday. I would've liked to have used the patio on such a…read morepretty day but the humidity was a bit much; fortunately, we were able to sit near the front of the restaurant with a gorgeous view of the train tracks and river. Service was fantastic the whole time. We were never left wanting for anything, and drinks and food came out at a perfect pace. We started off with drinks and the dill cheese curds appetizer. I was very happy that they had four ciders available, and I went with the pear choice, which turned out to be Magner's. The curds were fantastic, with loads of dill in the crisp breading. The curds had a perfect pull and squeak. My kid had the fettucine alfredo and rated it as "very good." (He also enjoyed the leftovers the next day). My husband had the smothered ribeye sandwich and requested no mushrooms. He had fries on the side. He said this is one of the best ribeye sandwiches he's ever had. I had the fish tacos, and wow, they were delicious. It included two tacos, and each one had two massive, very hot fish nuggets. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. I had my choice of side and went with coleslaw, which was good. Note that this is a brewery, but they had none of their beers available during our visit because they had just transferred to new ownership. Based on our experience, we definitely need to return when they have their own beers on tap again and then we can try more of their food, too!

I love this spot and am happy to hear there is a new owner the carry on the tradition. It's in a…read moretiny tiny city among the Mississippi. The building is gorgeous inside and out. Lots of memorabilia from long defunct breweries. My Bloody Mary was excellent as were my fish tacos. There are multiple options for pescatarians though probably a bit more challenging for vegans, which is not unusual in this part of the world. While we visited their onsite brewing was on hiatus because they need to be re-licensed after the ownership change. Looking forward to that happening!
