The vessel can really move fast on the way to the Stellwagen Bank marine sanctuary & the whales. The boat uses water jet propulsion "like a giant jet ski" to avoid harming marine life. The captain skilfully steered the vessel with great consideration for the whales. I thought we'd see one or two whales. But we saw many more. The captain announced where the passengers could see the whales as they surfaced. To give passengers a chance to see the whales, the captain gently turned the boat. Ben, an onboard naturalist, came by and offered information about the whales. He had a set of photos of whale flukes and explained how they identify individual whales. Markings are like fingerprints. Fascinating. Highly recommended this whale watching cruise.

She was incredibly knowledgeable, full of energy, and genuinely passionate about whales and nature. You could tell this is more than just a job for her. She even had a whale tattoo on her leg, which made her love for these incredible animals even more authentic. We learned so much from her, and it was refreshing to have a guide so excited to share her knowledge. She kept pointing out the whales as they surfaced, and her timing was perfect, just when you thought the action had moved on, she would spot another humpback breaching or lifting its tail before diving back down. If you can, try to get on one of Sophie's tours. I've been on whale watching tours before, but I have never seen anything like this. Our four kids were beyond excited as we saw what felt like 40 to 60 humpback whales. The boat ride itself was fantastic, with the salty spray in the air and everyone crowding the rails every time a whale came up close. It was one of the most incredible wildlife experiences we have ever had. At first, I thought the tour was a little pricey, but as my son said, "Dad, this was worth every dollar. You should have paid more." He was right. We happily tipped Sophie and the crew on our way out because they absolutely earned it. If you are visiting Provincetown, do not miss this experience. We journeyed out to Stellwagen Bank and saw 30 WHALES, dolphins and grey seals! It was an exceptional day for viewing these amazing creatures. I would like to highlight our tour guide and narrator, Lindsay who is a naturalist and someone whose passion, expertise and knowledge was palpable. She is articulate and personable combining just the right amount of enthusiasm and humor throughout the trip. You could feel not only her energy but her authentic respect and devotion to educating others about these giants of the ocean. I feel blessed everyday that I get to live near the ocean here in Massachusetts and to know these amazing mammals live and breathe in our waters. The staff on-board is courteous, without knowing the existence of Dramamine, I'm prone to motion sickness as the boat literally rocked violently numerous times with the engine cut off to intake sightings of whales nearly 50 miles from land. In the middle of the journey I felt vile, which my former love requested for assistance of a brown paper bag in return he got two asprins, a glass of Ginger Ale and four pieces of saltine crackers (all FREE)... now that is called excellent customer service. Amazingly there are still kind people in this world. I love Nabisco Saltine Crackers as it reminsce my sick days in my youth absent from school! Kids wanted to try fishing again while on vacation. But, I wanted a more petsonized experience than…read morethe large public fishing trip we did last time. Enter Cape Tip'n and Captain Nico! Nico was quite accomodating about arrangements and answering questions. Our trip included fishing for bait, blue fish and an attempt at Striped Bass. He answered questions from teenagers and drove the boat fast and we even got a look at a large contingent of seals and a glimpse at some whales. We did make one large catch of a striped Bass and several of the blue fish which gave us enough for several meals (6 of the 7 of us went fishing). All the teenagers said they would be interested in doing this again with Nico in the future!

We went out there, saw a couple of whales, but to this moment I still wonder what type of whales did I see, where were we or what those whales were doing? Nobody was there to explain anything, just an overly excited mate, badmouthing the competition but not being able to tell us what was going on. I am disappointed, and never ever going aboard that vessel. I am sorry I couldn't go on the other whale watch boat, but we left for california the next day. This was a definite low point of my vacation on Cape Cod and wish it never happened.
