    Poor customer service.
    Dee F.

I called with a pet emergency waited on the phone for over 40 min. By the time I gave up and went to another emergency vet it was too late the pup had passed away

Let me start by saying that on June 3, we took our dog to Banfield for his annual check-up and vaccines. Everything about him was normal--he played, ate, drank water, and went to the bathroom like always. The only thing I noticed was that his abdomen looked slightly bloated. I told the doctor immediately. After running routine tests, they said they had to do a special one because his liver enzymes (ALT, ALP, GGT) were extremely elevated. Clearly something was affecting his liver function. We were given two options: take him to the ER or take him home with medications to monitor him. If anything seemed off, we were to take him back to the ER right away. So we took him home with the meds and monitored him all day. The next day, even though he seemed the same, we didn't feel comfortable. We wanted more thorough testing (which Banfield did not offer) to understand why his liver levels were so high. So we went to Blue Pearl Hospital, which Banfield highly recommended. Worst decision ever. To make a long story short, they made us wait over four hours before they admitted our dog. I had to keep asking for updates--they wouldn't tell me anything about his condition. Other clients arrived after us, spent 20 minutes in the waiting room, and were sent home while we were just ignored. Finally, after I lost my patience, we were given a room. A doctor finally explained the situation. She told us that the test Blue Pearl had just done was not accurate or reliable enough to assess his liver, and that the proper test couldn't be done until the next day because the right person wasn't available. So they said he had to stay hospitalized overnight. In our emotional state--stressed, terrified--we didn't react the way we should have. Now it's clear: Why did they run a test that wasn't even useful if they couldn't get real results? Why keep him hospitalized if it wasn't necessary? The answer is simple: money. They could have easily scheduled us to come back the next morning, but no--they saw an opportunity to charge more. The next morning we called at 9 AM to ask if the test had been done. It hadn't. Even though he stayed overnight supposedly so the test could be done first thing in the morning. At 11 AM, we showed up--angry--and asked again. A receptionist named Mily thankfully helped us find out what was going on, and confirmed: nothing had been done. Our dog is very spoiled and loved. I can't even imagine how scared he must have been--locked in a cage, hooked to fluids he didn't even need, and wearing a hard plastic muzzle that injured his nose and mouth. I asked to see him and he looked absolutely terrified. We spent time with him in a room, and they didn't run the test until 1 PM. Finally, we spoke with Dr. Bradley P. Book. At first, he gave us information calmly--but as we asked more questions (which we had every right to do), he became irritated, rude, and completely unprofessional. He even raised his voice at us. My daughter was on the phone asking questions as well, and he snapped. If you can't show basic compassion or human decency, you should NOT be working in animal care. Then--guess what--he told us they needed to do more tests to truly know the condition of our dog's liver. And, of course, they wanted to hospitalize him AGAIN. We refused. Only then did he offer to do the tests right away and let us take our dog home. Why wasn't that the original plan? Simple: they wanted to squeeze more money out of us. Let me also say--we were never shown any actual test results. Just verbal summaries from the doctors. So again: why do two prior tests if they weren't useful? The only reason I see is to inflate the bill. Everyone knows vet care is expensive--we're prepared for that. But it's disgusting and cruel to exploit people in distress, knowing we'll agree to anything to save our beloved pet. Of course, they quickly offer Care Credit so you can charge even more money. Conclusion: NEVER take your pets to this hospital. EVER. I will continue sharing our horrible experience over and over again. This place is inhumane, unethical, and run like a business, not a place of care. Dr. Bradley P. Book is unprofessional, aggressive, and clearly lacks empathy. To the nurses Claudia and Cat Soto, thank you for your kindness. And to Mily at the front desk--thank you for your support. Sadly, our little one is now an angel. And my biggest regret is that he spent two of his final days at Blue Pearl Hospital, a place that didn't deserve to care for him. P.S.: Banfield and BluePearl are both owned by Mars, Incorporated. Now it makes sense why they constantly recommend each other--it's all about business, not care

Inadequate and expensive best describes these Heartless*%#%$^*( They demanded $11000.00 up front before they would even examine my little dog very rude too they weren't asking they were telling money NOW and your pets health Later. Well she was mis diagnosed at Deerfield animal hospital and Blue Star never question the vets opinion and operated on her long story short she died on the table. If she would have seen a decent vet[my fault] she would still be here, these so called vets we have now is all about the money they couldn't care less about tour pet. I truthfully believe Vets are the worst animal abusers in this country, as I ponder my situation I wonder how many pet owners were turned away because they did not have the money just to watch their little pet die at home. 2 places I will never use again for my pets is blue pearl and Deerfield, if you have a good caring vet stay with them being new to the area Im looking for one. God Bless you.......................jstout

    Examination pre surgery

We drove almost 7 hours to see Dr. Israel for TPLO surgery for our deaf dog Luna who is not yet 4 years old. She has been in obvious pain and the surgeon came highly recommended by another veterinarian. Once we arrived at Blue Pearl everything went smoothly, the estimate was what they had sent over during the zoom consultation and picking up after surgery I had help loading her into the vehicle with all medications etc. I had read reviews and was nervous but I think it was a great place for Luna to have a significant surgery.

    Gandalf the Grey RIP 6/9/25

It was a Sunday and I needed a place to take my old kitty to help him cross the rainbow bridge. I called various places and was skeptical of Blue Pearl because of the bad reviews and they wouldn't tell me an exact price of the procedure plus cremation package, they could just give me an estimate. Sigh. We chose to take our baby to another emergency clinic but there wasn't a vet onsite yet and we were told it would be at least another hour before the vet showed up. We drove to Blue Pearl since it was on our way back home and we didn't want to prolong any more suffering. I was shocked at how smoothly everything went. As soon as we got there, we were put in a small room. Staff was attentive, compassionate and made sure to explain everything that was going on. They let us take as much time as we needed between steps and were so gentle with our baby. We chose a private cremation with a beautiful wood urn box and a clay paw print . We got the call 3 days later to pick up our baby. Regarding price, it was ~$555 and included everything. Considering it was a Sunday at an emergency 24hr vet clinic, I was expecting worse. The whole process was as smooth as possible. Thank you Blue Pearl!

I wish I could leave no stars. Unless your dog is in super critical condition, like about to die, don't take your pet here. You wait hours just to get seen by the vet then they proceeded to charge you an arm and a leg for simple things like bloodwork or just a physical exam. Me and my mom waited eight hours for our dog to be seen. Our dog had jaundice, was throwing up, hadn't eaten in multiple days, was very wobbly, has a history with seizures and he ended up never being seen. Yet other animals would come in get seen and treated before we had even been seen. My dog passed away less that 48 hours later. Also this isn't our first time here. This seems to be normal blue pearl behavior. We just aren't anywhere closer to any other emergency pet hospital. I really wish we were. So unless you're dog is in super critical condition in this hospital is the closest to you. Don't take them here. Save lots of money and lots of time

    This is my beloved Hagrid.

The staff and doctors were wonderful. I went for a second opinion and was very grateful they put his needs above profit. My Hagrid was an amazing service dog and I am so grateful that his end of life was kind and as pain free as possible. Thank you too everyone who worked with him for caring and showing us compassion.

    Toby

I'm giving 5 stars to the place where my dog, Toby passed away. In my time there I was only ever met with compassion, timeliness and patience. No one ever wants to lose their pet. I lost mine that night to cancer. I came in and told the front my dog had difficulty breathing and they rushed him so fast to back. The urgency was there. Money is always a topic and I'm glad they're not over charging stressed or grieving pet care takers. I'm even considering to move closer to this vet in case of any emergency in the future. I'll forever miss my Toby but I'm so glad he was in a place where he was cared for and loved. R.I.P 05/31/2024.

Blue Pearl helped me at a time when I was out of hope. My dog was having a difficult time breathing and I didn't know why. He had already been to my local vet who couldn't diagnose anything during a simple office visit. When he stopped eating I took him back to my vet and they took x-rays. My vet said they looked "cloudy" which indicated something was wrong with his heart. My vet recommended a ultrasound. Only one pet hospital in the area does them which is why I went to Blue Pearl. The check in process and intake of my dog into their facility is definitely something they can improve on. However, the diagnosis was provided immediately and the doctor called me personally. The news was horrible. A cancerous mass on his heart. I was already preparing for euthanasia and now knew I was making the correct choice to end my boys suffering. I am grateful that there is a facility with the ability to complete an ultrasound and MRI. The doctor recommended additional treatment which I couldn't afford. He didn't shame me - he stated "that makes you human. It is very obvious your dog was very much loved by you." That made it all so much easier. I highly recommend this facility.

We waited a full year to share our experience with All Dogs Unleashed to reflect the long-term…read moreimpact on our dogs. While staff were friendly, the program felt largely misrepresented to us. In October 2024, we enrolled our two dogs (8 y/o + 2 y/o) in a 4-week board-and-train program specifically to address resource guarding. Both dogs had a history of resource guarding, which we had managed successfully, but the behavior had recently escalated and we wanted professional support. We were assured multiple times that resource guarding would be addressed through individualized obedience training. Communication during training was limited. We had to initiate contact, and updates generally indicated that the dogs were doing well. No concerns were raised to us about their behavior or suitability for the program. Upon returning home, our younger dog appeared extremely fearful and hesitant, taking nearly 15 minutes to approach us despite reassurance. During the "live demo," commands like "place" were enforced with excessive e-collar corrections. The dogs seemed confused, stressed, and did not appear to have any understanding of the commands being given. Bad manners, like jumping, were still present even during this session. When we asked how resource guarding had been addressed, the sole reason we signed up, the trainer said, "We never saw this behavior ourselves, so it wasn't addressed," without further elaboration. The dogs displayed resource guarding behaviors during this session, and she instructed us to "just use the e-collar whenever they do something you don't want," which directly contradicted advice from the manager that punishing guarding could significantly worsen it. When we raised concerns multiple times both during this session and afterward, we generally felt dismissed and were told for a long time to "let them adjust" before seeking more training. Our youngest began frequently urinating in her crate, a behavior she had never displayed before. When we asked about this, we were recommended to see a vet. They did offer another training session, but we ultimately felt it was not the right decision to continue with them. A veterinarian confirmed her urination was stress-related, consistent with the behaviors we noticed during the return session. She has since required daily anti-anxiety medication for fear-based behaviors that arose immediately after she returned home. Over a year later, their obedience is unchanged from before the program, and we have had to cope with long-term stress and anxiety for our dogs. We spent about $5,000 on a program that failed to address our primary concern and left lasting negative effects on us. We don't recommend this business and encourage anyone seeking professional training to choose a trainer whose approach is tailored to their dogs' specific needs and training goals.

We are so pleased with the training for our Belgian Malinios at All Dogs Unleashed. We were able…read moreto plan their training program around a family trip and their pick up and drop off was so convenient. Their communication was quick and super kind. Hilary picked up our pup Monica and then Aubry, who was a significant part of Monica's training, dropped her off and showed us how to handle our pup now that she has learned her manners. Monica doesn't bark unnecessarily, and knows how to stop barking when asked. She does not run out of the house when I'm unloading groceries. And the craziest thing, she doesn't steal my toddlers food from the coffee table. Walking on a leash without pulling is another miracle she learned while in the care of All Dogs Unleashed. Their program was worth every penny and I wish we did it sooner!
