Called before coming here, so they were ready for her visit. I thought it was odd that the employee took her back to the exam area, but told me that they'd call when the vet was done. Waited in the car for about an hour when the call came to pick up my dog. Met with the vet, and he told me that he expressed my dog's anal glands, but also asked if I wanted him to do more tests to ensure there wasn't also something else going on with her. I told him no, paid the vet bill of over $400 which included a small bottle of antibiotics for her, and brought her home. She didn't struggle with pooping after her vet visit. Gave her the antibiotics twice daily until she was done with her meds. She didn't seem to have any lasting effects. Two things that I didn't like were: 1. Me not being able to go with my dog to the exam room. 2. Being told that there may be something else wrong with her but not being provided a good explanation about what it was.

The first time our dog had a mass on his face. He was extremely wary and skittish coming here, even pooped on the floor from anxiety, but the staff was super calm and patient with him. They assessed him and gave us our options. When they removed the mass, they gave us detailed instructions on aftercare and encouraged us to call if we had any follow up questions. Unfortunately, the last time we went was when our dog passed. They assessed him and gave us the news, giving us ample time to grieve. Some of the staff even remembered him for the first visit. They gave us our options and sent us a card signed by the staff which we certainly didn't expect. I'm super thankful for VEG ER and the people who work there. You can tell they genuinely care about animals, and that care extends to humans too. Know you will be in good hands if you have to come here. Parking: There is a free parking lot. It took a month just to get an appointment with the internal medicine doctor and we finally get there only to have a subpar experience. In the initial waiting room they took my cat to the back and had me waiting in the room for quite some time with no updates. The doctor and her assistant came in on two separate occasions, front loading me with a ton of information verses the two of them together. I got mixed details on the drop-off process for the following day and then was overcharged for three ultrasounds (instead of one) and the assistant wasn't sure how my quote was different than hers however, that wasn't the worst of it all. I opted for GI lab work which they said would take 14 days to come back. The following week my cat was back to throwing up pretty heavily and the B12 shots that were recommended didn't seem to be working. In rushing my cat to the primary vet, they asked for me to please call Arista and see if the results were back which I was told they weren't and that the doctor was off and to just 'call back on Monday'. My primary went with Arista's recommendations and gave another B12 shot and nausea pills while we waited another week. A full 16 days had passed and still no word from Arista. I call this past Friday and was told the results were back but yet again the doctor wasn't in and to 'call back Monday' even though my cat was back to throwing up. I ended up having to push back even more for an answer, was placed on hold and reassured that even though the doctor was out she would be giving me a call to discuss the results. A whole two hours goes by and still no call, so I call back again and was then told that she would be emailing me instead in which I immediately asked to escalate my call to management. I was told they would call me on Saturday. In the meantime, Dr. Nasr emailed me and to my surprise the results had come back a week and a half ago PRIOR to me calling the first time yet no one called or emailed me. In email exchanges she also mentioned that B12 doesn't help with vomiting in which I had to screenshot her recommendations where she opted for that and the entire visit was all due to my cat vomiting repeatedly. Her email exchanges did not help the situation and in my entire life of having animals, I have never and I mean NEVER had a doctor get results and not respect a paying customer enough to pick up the phone and call. Someone from Arista called me on Saturday to assure me that they were looking into this and a manager would be calling me on Monday. Welp it is now Thursday and no one from their management team has given me a call. Unless my cats are in dire need, I will never give this facility another cent. It may have been just a bad experience with Dr. Nasr and her team (who by the way have every single Friday off) but this is a reflection for the company as a whole.

My wife and I visited VEG Brookhaven in mid-November when my dog was viciously attacked by another…read moredog during a nighttime walk. It was an extremely traumatic experience for both me and my wife. While the nurses were all nice enough, our grievances primarily lie with the doctor who was responsible for our dog's care that night: Brina Baker. She was immediately unapproachable, despite the awfulness of the situation. I calmly tried to explain what happened as soon as she introduced herself, at which point she instantly cut me off, saying curtly that she would conduct her own examination of my dog. She then gave me a quick assessment of what she thought would need to be done with our dog that night, and then got visibly irritated when I asked her to repeat what she had told me to my wife, who was nearly inconsolable over the phone and on her way to VEG (our dog was bleeding and had suffered several bites from a large pit; he is a miniature goldendoodle). Her exact words were something to the effect of, "keep your wife on the phone so I don't have to keep repeating myself." The nurse took our dog away for some x-rays and diagnostics, the results of which were never explained to us, as our dog was immediately put under anesthesia and placed on the operating table. We did agree to have him put under and have his wounds seen to but didn't realize we'd be in the dark as to what the x-rays showed, and what exactly was going to be done to him. Dr. Baker had initially said that she was going to determine what she'd do after the x-rays were taken, because it was only then that we would see whether the attacking dog's bite marks had perforated the abdominal wall. When we tried to ask about what the prognosis was, and what Dr. Baker was doing to him--even after she had told us we could come up and watch them operate on him on the table--she tersely refused to explain anything until the operation was over, and no one bothered to explain how bad our dog's injuries were prior to that point either. DURING the operation, while my wife and I were sitting completely distraught in a corner of the ER, Dr. Baker laughed and joked with the nurses in the building while suturing our dog and installing a drain in his stomach. At one point, she loudly stated, "I've never done this before" to one of the other employees. Whether this referred to installing a drain or installing that specific kind of drain in that way, we did not know, but this was EXTREMELY troubling. At one point, she also shouted at a nurse an order for a certain amount of medication, which was relayed incorrectly back to her, and which she confirmed anyway. Luckily, a third nurse heard the discrepancy and corrected it, at which point Dr. Baker laughed it off flippantly. At this point, my wife and I had no faith in her, but decided to keep quiet since our dog was under her knife. Fast forward a couple of weeks, and the drain that Dr. Baker installed was put in so haphazardly (this was confirmed by both our primary vet and a specialist) that our dog developed an abscess and inflamed lymph nodes around where the procedure took place, which also led to a limp in his front left leg, due to further inflammation of lymph nodes in his arm resulting from infection. We have been told that the drain was not only too big but also oriented incorrectly. Not only did we pay nearly $2,500 the night that we visited VEG, but we were also emotionally tormented by Dr. Baker's flippancy, uncommunicativeness, and utter lack of compassion, as well as left with enduring health complications that we are still dealing with as a result of how she botched his wound treatment. At this point, we are evaluating our options as far as how to get justice for how we and our dog were treated, as we believe he was the victim of malpractice. For the amount of money we paid the night we came in (and VEG, as an ER, is extremely expensive), we deserved better from both a veterinary and an interpersonal perspective.

Her dedication and compassion for each and every pet is evident in everything she does. In such a stressful moment, her confidence, clarity, and empathy brought us so much reassurance. Laura was equally amazing during discharge. She was incredibly patient, took the time to give us detailed explanations, and helped us get our baby settled comfortably in the car. Her kindness and calm presence meant more than she probably realizes. A huge thank you as well to Gabbie at the front desk. She was fantastic, walking me through the invoice with care and helping apply our senior discount, which truly made a difference with such a large and unexpected expense. That level of thoughtfulness does not go unnoticed. Honestly, every single staff member we encountered was remarkable. The facility itself is state of the art, spotless, and very welcoming. Despite the intensity of an emergency setting, everyone was warm, caring, and genuinely kind, always with a smile. Although this hospital is a bit of a drive from our home, it was absolutely worth it. Alpharetta Veterinary Specialty & Emergency should be the gold standard for veterinary care and service. The veterinarians were professional, thorough, and confident in their approach. It was obvious that everyone there truly knows what they're doing. That level of competence brings so much peace of mind during an emergency. What stood out most to me was how seamless the entire process felt. From intake to treatment, the communication was excellent and the care was top-tier. Zoltar was treated quickly and safely, and I felt supported every step of the way. I also truly appreciated their pricing. For an emergency facility, their costs were very fair and reasonable compared to other emergency clinics. It's clear that they combine high-level expertise with transparency and integrity. She was breathing but completely unresponsive, and we were terrified she wouldn't wake up. We explained exactly what had happened. The staff recommended an X-ray--which we agreed to, as we were concerned she might have broken her neck. However, they also insisted on pumping her stomach "just in case she got into something." We declined, knowing that wasn't the case. After the X-ray, they confirmed she hadn't broken any bones but noted that she was still in a lateral position and unable to stand. I asked if she was still breathing and if she was okay. They mentioned that after administering an IV, she moved slightly and wagged her tail--giving us hope since she hadn't moved at all when we brought her in. Then, they suggested additional blood work. I refused, believing that if her neck wasn't broken, she likely just needed rest. Instead, I asked to take her home. They insisted she needed to stay overnight for monitoring--at an additional cost we simply couldn't afford. When we asked to see her, nothing could have prepared us for what we saw. She was dead. She was hooked up to machines, her eyes lifeless and almost out of their sockets. I was devastated and furious. I turned to the vet and asked, "Do cats come back from this? Will she wake up?" His response? "The prognosis isn't good." I broke down, feeling completely taken advantage of--not just emotionally but financially. In the end, we were charged $1,000, only to lose her. If you want to be scammed and mistreated in your time of distress, this is the place to go. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau because what they are doing is unethical. Obviously they deserve 0 stars.

He sat in the back for over 3 1/2 hours with no fluids, no meds, and no update. The tech was nonchalant when I expressed concern, and Dr. Peters brushed everything off--suggesting Latte may have "eaten an acorn or turmeric," completely ignoring his two-year oncology history and the $20K+ of treatment we've done at this hospital. We also learned that day that our amazing oncologist Dr. Mobley was gone -- and it shows. The doctor who replaced her, Dr. Callahan, has shown zero interest in communicating. Every attempt to reach him was met with pushback. How are we expected to keep spending thousands at a hospital where we can't even speak to the specialist responsible for our dog's care? Thank you to Cassandra, the only tech who actually gave Latte fluids and medication, and to Desha, who listened to my concerns. Meanwhile, the office manager never followed up. Then, without my consent, Latte's oncology appointment was canceled. When I called about an estimate later that week, they hung up on me. And this wasn't an isolated issue. Since 11/13, I contacted St. Francis over four different times trying to reach their oncology team and the office manager about Latte's condition, the lack of urgency, and the negligence we experienced during not one but two ER visits. I was dismissed repeatedly. I was told they were "busy and short staffed," placed on hold, and when the call disconnected, they never called back. My inquiries were never passed along to the people in charge. I called again on 12/2, after Latte had passed away, and was told the office manager had been "informed" and would contact me. It is now 12/4. Still nothing. The most heartbreaking part? St. Francis's ER doctor told us Latte was probably just experiencing stomach discomfort from an acorn. In reality, Latte was already in kidney failure. The oncologist who reviewed his bloodwork never told us that -- he only said some values were elevated and recommended a low-fat diet and an internal medicine follow-up. I physically went in the next day and booked that appointment myself because no one at this place was taking initiative. One week later, at Thrive, we were finally told the truth: Latte was in kidney failure. Two days later, he was gone. When Latte fell critically ill, we were so exhausted and traumatized by St. Francis's neglect that we had to rush him to a completely new ER -- VEG. They were the exact opposite of St. Francis: quick, compassionate, responsive, and they let us speak with the doctor before we arrived. As soon as we walked in, they rushed Latte into triage and immediately began treatment. They treated it like an emergency -- something St. Francis has never done. When Latte passed, VEG didn't even charge us for the ER visit. They sent us a card signed by the entire staff with condolences. Dogwood contacted us with kind words. Dr. Clark, an oncologist from Dogwood, personally called and spoke to us in detail for 30 minutes about Latte and offered sincere condolences. Meanwhile... St. Francis Oncology has not reached out at all. I even called them to inform them Latte had passed when I canceled his internal medicine appointment -- and still, nothing. After $20,000+ in oncology visits, surgeries, chemo, and thousands more in ER visits, they couldn't even make one phone call. All of the people who ever cared have left, and now I understand why. We've brought three dogs to St. Francis since 2022. We have lost two under their care, partially due to negligence. We will never subject our last dog or any future pets to their unprofessional, unethical, profit-driven system again. Please, I am warning you: DO NOT take your pet here. Nothing is an emergency to them. Their turnover is alarming. Their empathy is gone. Their priorities are money, not your pet. Your pets deserve better. I decided to stay with Jett while he was euthanized. The process was surprisingly peaceful. The room they placed us in was clean and calming. I was able to stay as long as I needed to. About 2 weeks later, they called to let me know that Jett's urn was ready for pickup. In addition to a beautiful urn, I also received a paw print and certificate of cremation. They even included a pamphlet on dealing with grief. Jett brought my family so much joy over the past 16 years and I'll miss him dearly. I am truly grateful for the staff at St. Vincent for showing genuine concern during my grief and assisting Jett with passing away peacefully.
