I've been with Bluehost for too long now but I know transferring domains is always an issue. My site is down because of a chargeback for a product I did not want from last year. Customer service actually told me to call the company I registered with although they are the hosting company and they are the ones who have suspended my account. This has been an ongoing issue. Horrible customer service. Trying to switch my site back to it's originator has been a nightmare. Customer service doesn't understand that I want to point my whole site back so I asked to speak to a supervisor. I have been on hold for 45 minutes still no resolve. I cannot manage to cancel the account. The customer service personnel located in the Philippines are not understandable or helpful. They tell me to dispute the charge with the credit card company. I have been trying to get an email changed for 15 days. I have emailed and called 30 times and no one can change it for me. They say they are only Tier one and I need to email owenership@bluehost.com. I have emailed them over and over and receive no response. If I treated my customers this way I would be out of business. Please, let me save you the hassle, time, aggravation and money you'd be spending on this company. I used them for years and ended up moving all my websites away from them and for good reason: I encountered so many problems with them--from down websites to convoluted claims about what they offer with certain packages to their outdated and, frankly, absurd control panel. I mean, if you can judge a web hosting company by its control panel, then you'd run fast away from this one. I still have a few domain names with them (I really gotta get around to transferring the rest over somewhere--anywhere--else) and, predictably, just renewing a few of them has taken me more than 30 minutes. The customer support couldn't make heads or tails of the error message I was getting, so now I'm on hold for another 10 minutes to talk to someone else. Seriously, this is just renewing domains! I am the website manager for a small non-profit organization. We recently had a new site developed and moved it to Bluehost for hosting. The first thing I had to do was get an SSL certificate for the site so that donors could make donations securely. Bluehost put the certificate on the wrong domain. When I realized this I contacted their tech support. Things have gone steadily downhill from there. I was initially told that they would be able to transfer the SSL within a couple of hours. When that didn't happen I was told it would be 24 more hours. After that all they would say is that, "it's in the hands of our experts", but that they could not give me an estimate of when it would be completed. Yesterday I communicated with a supervisor who told me that the problem was that their "reburn machine" is broken and that their tech development team is very busy and he would put a priority on my support request but he could not give me an estimate for when the site would be up. Our website has now been down for 8 days and I don't want to think about how many potential donors we have lost. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give Bluehost a zero for technical support. I sent this review to Bluehost tech support before posting and they couldn't have cared less. read more

I've had their web hosting for several years but am becoming increasingly unhappy with their service. I find it very difficult and time consuming to get customer service as they only do service through a chat room which appears to be in India. I will be switching to another vendor when my contract is up. read more

I have had the worst experience ever with Bluehost hosting. I have had hosting with them for quite some time. I decided to upgrade my plan to get access to a higher power server, a dedicated IP and more. They migrated my account (I have multiple web sites) and things went downhill fast. We could not access any sites initially, then slowly the front end sites worked, but the back end (wordpress WP-admin side) was so slow it was unusable. We were receiving linux 404s (actually timeouts) and, if we did get in, 30 - 60 second response time when asking for a new back-end page. Changes on one site affected another site. I spent 10 days working with Bluehost and their support, trying everything I could think of to get the sites back to a usable state. It was basically useless. They just kept taking stabs at things, not really looking at all the data I was sending and not digging into the issues caused by the migration. I hired a web developer to see if he could find the issue. He, too, could see it was account or server configuration-related, but still Bluehost refused to own the problem. I finally migrated to Sitegound. Ahhhhh... I have my life back. I would never recommend Bluehost for hosting to ANYONE again. read more
