They took her out of the room for her shots and heartworm test despite my request to keep her in the room with me. When they tried to do the heartworm test, I could hear her screaming down the hallway. This happened twice before they decided to stop the test and bring her back to me. Fast forward to this year. Dr. Cundiff walks in the room, points at my dog, and immediately says "That one needs a muzzle." I was shocked to hear this. She is a rescue dog but I have had her for almost 4 years and she has never been aggressive. He said that the last time I brought her in, she tried to bite the tech when they gave her her shots. This was the first time that anyone notified me that she had been aggressive. I agreed to the muzzle for everyone's safety. Dr. Cundiff made no attempt to bend down to her level or speak calmly to her. As soon as my dog was on the table, he tried to lift her tail and she did turn around and tried to nip. (She was muzzled so nothing happened.) She then peed on the table. Dr. Cundiff threw his hands in the air, said, "That's IT" and left the room. When he came back, he said he will never see her again without sedation. I was shocked at his reaction- surely she is not the first dog to get nervous and urinate! None of my concerns were addressed, and he did not complete the exam. I was still charged for the exam, even though she was on the table for less than 2 minutes. Additionally, the vet tech made several passive aggressive comments about my dog gaining 6 pounds since last year. According to her vet records (that I had to ask for three times), she has actually gained 1.6 pounds. I was appalled by Dr. Cundiff and his vet tech. If they can't handle a rescue dog with apparent trauma, then they may be in the wrong business.

She's not only knowledgeable but extremely patient with my dog and myself as well. She truly has a way with animals and just entirely speaks their language. At no point in time did I feel hopeless for my stubborn basset after Kelly came into our life. Bassets are known to be difficult to train but Kelly's technique was just unremarkable. She said "She doesn't like my attitude" and taking your animals out the room to a basement is "just how they do things there." No explanations or nothing on what they are doing or nothing. Went to a doc in Cynthiana was told what the damage was and I needed an orthopedic surgeon. They said there was no one locally that did that kind of surgery. I could go to Cincinnati or Louisville or there is one that travels to Georgetown periodically that they would put me in touch with. They said it would be expensive $4500+ and it would be 2 weeks before he could do it. If I couldn't afford it then they said I could do nothing and it would just hang there with no use or amputate! I refused to believe there was no one else!! Lexington?! Really?!? So in a panic I started calling vets to see if I could get referrals for a vet that does orthopedic surgery and I got several diff referrals and was waiting for callbacks when I called the Animal Care Clinic in Lexington. Lori answered the phone right away and was so kind and helped calm me down then she said "let me call the Dr and I will call you right back." I sent her images for Bailey's leg and figured it would be awhile but within 5 min she called me back and said "the Dr said come in the morning and he will take a look and that he thought he could help her." I literally cried! The next morning I walked into the office. I was amazed!!! There wasn't room full of people and their pets in an overcrowded waiting room. It was like walking into a very nice hospital! It was decorated so nicely! It was clean and organized! I immediately was greeted by Ms. Christina at reception and she took me straight to a room. Lori came in and then Dr. Schroyer. He examined Bailey and sat down and explained her injury, how he would repair it, recovery time etc. I was worried it was going to be a fortune but he was so much more affordable! It made it possible for us to afford it. The surgery went great. We went home and the office would call periodically to check on her progress between follow-up visits. Animal Care Clinic was the ABSOLUTE BEST clinic I have ever been to!! Working with rescues I have seen quite a few clinics so I can say with confidence you will not be disappointed with Animal Care Clinic!!! We stop by just to say hi when we're are in Lex!! An employee at this facility, almost a year ago, choked my dog by pulling him back and upward when…read morebringing him out to me. My dog immediately choked up kibble, and within about 30 minutes of getting him back to my hotel, I had to request input from my vet back home and immediately take him to the ER Vet where he had to spend the next almost two days. He had aspiration pneumonia. They of course denied the entire thing and when I went in to view the camera footage they had, they had a clip of the footage that was about 1:30 seconds long that had been cut to not show me going over to my dog where he has choked kibble up. I called immediately when I got to the hotel room, as I didn't want to react immediately due to the emotion involved. They of course have denied everything. I've stayed quiet about this incident for almost a year now because I honestly thought maybe they'd own up to their (maybe) mistake and do what was right and help cover what I had to pay for. I am active duty military and have to travel to Lexington frequently for clinical. I trusted this business with my furchildren and they failed. I just truly hope that next time this happens, the outcome isn't different. Had I waited until the next day to take my pup to the vet, he most likely would not have survived. Within hours he was on oxygen at the ER vet. I've been dealing with their insurance company since January and they will not be covering anything. This is honestly, the outcome that I expected, as both Uptown Hounds and The Hanover Group did not display much professionalism. The worst part is, they won't even refund me the amount of services that I paid for and will never receive for my dogs. I truly hope no one else has to deal with this situation.

The staff are so kind and flexible with travel changes (if you need to pick up earlier or stay an extra night) which is really helpful when flying. They have a great pre-check feature where you can give a lot of detail on your dog's stay. I typically send toys that I don't mind losing just as a precaution, but they've never lost anything I've sent with my dog and everything comes back neatly packed in his bag. I don't worry about my baby at all while he is at Uptown.
