My colonoscopy experience:
Consult: I showed up on time. Waited 50 minutes to be called. The front desk staff provided no updates or explanation for the significant delay.
Procedure: showed up on time. Waited 90 minutes to be called and once again, the front desk staff provided no updates or explanation for the delay. One receptionist just glared at me when I asked to confirm that I'm checked in since the wait time seemed excessive. I gave my first 1-star review while waiting.
Shockingly, immediately prior to the procedure, the doctor angrily confronted be about my 1-star review. He explained how he'd been called away for a late night emergency and that is why they were backed up today. The doctor dropped all bedside manner courtesy and, seemingly in anger, quickly pushed in the sleep medication without another word to me.
At this facility, the doctor is frequently called away, so it could very well be your experience that you prepare for and show up for your colonoscopy only to have it canceled. Be aware of these policies, practices, and situations.
My suggestions: First, have your staff clearly communicate to patients. "Dr. Patel had a late-night emergency and we are running 90 minutes behind today." That's all it would have taken.
Second, doctors shouldn't confront patients over reviews. It made me feel uncomfortable, and I cannot imagine more unprofessional conduct over a damn online review. read more
