Indo-Italian restaurant that's always busy-busy, despite it being pretty big! Popular with the locals, plus golfers from the adjoining course often wander in after a round.
Ok the service is slooow - let's get that out of the way first. Dishes come out as they're ready and it can take a while for food/drinks/any signs of life among the waiting staff to reach your table.
I take a deep breath and go along with that though because the food is so satisfying. After experimentation I've found the best thing to do is order a whole bunch of starters and the odd main, and ask for everything together to share.
The must-haves from their Italian/Indian fusion menu are the spinach and artichoke formaggio with dunkable garlic bread that I've found myself drooling about in my sleep, and the spicy mogo chips (that's cassava) which have a proper kick. The hot chilli paneer pizza is also great for those who can handle their spice and I'm a fan of the stuffed mushrooms too. I'm not a veggie but I easily become one here!
Desserts are okay but don't have a very 'homemade' feel so I tend to pass on those. Drinks meanwhile can be good comedy value thanks to the naughty cocktail list - here's your chance to order a Pussy Wiggles whilst trying to keep a straight face! It seems slightly out of place in such a family-friendly setting but I managed to ask the waiter to swap my Italian Smooch for a Passionate Kiss yesterday with minimal giggling (he seemed to be enjoying it though!). Worth mentioning they have a good choice of mocktails on there too.
The place feels light and airy, helped by the large windows on all sides with nice green views out onto the golf course. Seems to work for all occasions too - I've been in a large group for a birthday party which they handled well, and also for smaller group catch-ups. My mate who lives locally has been to the small bar area on dates and for crazy golf outside too (must hit that up sometime!).
It's one of my fave stops in the area for good warming comfort food and I may have had to undo a belt button here in the past (oops). Plenty of parking given it's on the edge of the golf course - would just say it's defo worth phoning ahead to check for a table first. You can always order for collection if not, then pig out in your PJs at home (err yeah, guilty as charged!). read more
