In April, I brought my two kittens to this veterinary office for ringworm. I went in specifically…read moreasking if the lesions on their heads were ringworm because they were fostered and it looked like ringworm. The vet touched the lesions with her barehands, did not wash her hands before she left the room, and said "It's not ringworm, I haven't seen ringworm in my 20 years as a vet." No diagnostic tests were done or offered (I would have paid extra for diagnostic tests and would have been content to pay it to take care of our boys). It was verified two weeks later to be ringworm, as the humans in my house got ringworm from them which now requires treatment as well. Unfortunately, they now require oral antifungal as the lesions have spread to multiple spots on both of them and they are very uncomfortable. I believe this widespread of an infection could have been avoided if she had not dismissed my concerns because "she's never seen ringworm." Additionally, I called to see if I could get an oral antifungal for them both due to the increasing lesions (despite OTC treatments). I was told that the vet would prescribe it for one cat and not the other. I brought both cats to be seen on my first visit but they stated that only the one cat was seen by the vet and weighed, so they would only be able to prescribe medications to the one cat. No big deal, I'll make another appointment; however, they wanted to charge for another full appointment despite the vet missing the diagnosis, despite me telling her what it was, and assessing both cats in the first appointment. The whole experience struck me as unprofessional due to the tone and poor diagnostics. I have lots trust in this vet and cannot take my cats here in good conscience. Emily, the receptionist is a lovely human though, very respectful and helpful each time I talked to her.

I had been here before with my family dog for years and years and they were just ok, so when I got…read moremy own dog I decided to shop around And switch vets. At one point I had an emergency and called around after hours and they said it would be $300 just to open the doors and whatever after that. (She kind of said it like that would deter me, but it's my dog of course I'll pay!) So I went, paid, dog was fixed and it was great. Fast forward to about a year later, my other dog seemed off... it was 7 pm at night (after hours) and I called them, they called back and said the vet wouldn't come in because we weren't regular customers (Animal Hospital?) I said that I would gladly pay the $300 again, anything, and they said no. I called around and no one was either open or answering. My dog was obviously poorly and I'd spent 1.5 hours on the phone. I called back crying and the lady who answered obviously felt bad for me, she said she'd call the vet and call me back, when she did she said No, the vet won't come in because we aren't regular customers, I said I'd switch, anything, I hated seeing my dog acting weird (I worried it was his back- he is a dachshund.) I was crying and offering to pay anything... I said what could it possibly matter if I was willing to pay, and had all my dog's medical records and she said "we have to give something to our regular customers." Fine, but I would have switched, I would have paid and what real VET would allow a dog to SUFFER over semantics! I asked the Doctor's name and it was Dr. Rappaport. I can not BELIEVE that this person would become a veterinarian. She didn't care if my dog lived or died. I ended up driving my dog first to London Animal Hospital and then to one just outside Detroit (where I arrived at 4 am.) Both places were happy to treat my dog despite the fact that I wasn't a regular patient. I did end up switching Vets as a result of this incident, but NOT to Blue Cross. I can not believe that they purport to care about animals at all.
