I booked a package with an hour massage and a 90 minute float and came in. The massage alone was a great way to chill out, but soon it was time to head over to the float room. You put in earplugs and shower, then climb into the tank and float effortlessly. Soon, the music fades out, the lights turn off, and it's just you in your birthday suit in the tank. And here's where it gets kind of trippy. The first thing I noticed was hearing my heartbeat. That kind of freaked me out, so I started concentrating on breathing. That worked. I floated, I concentrated on my breaths, and pretty soon whatever stuff that was stressing me out was forgotten. Next thing I knew the music faded up and it was time to climb out. I'm sure I can find a place to float back home, and I'm sure I can find a place where I can book a massage and a float, but only here will you also find an art space where people are just creating stuff. That said, the quality of the massage wasn't even the main issue--it was the lack of professionalism and customer respect. I called ahead at 9:45 AM to schedule my appointment and arrived early at 9:42 AM. When I checked in, I confirmed that I had called ahead, and the receptionist proceeded to collect my payment upfront, which I understand is standard practice. However, immediately after my payment was processed, another customer walked in. She stopped assisting me to ask if he had an appointment, and her demeanor made it feel like she questioned whether I had actually booked mine. It was an uncomfortable start to the visit. The most concerning part happened after the massage. When I completed my receipt, I added a $15 tip, bringing my total to $119 with the card fee included. As I was writing, the masseuse looked directly at my receipt and told me, "That's not enough money." I was taken aback, because a $15 tip on a $100 service is reasonable. When I declined to increase the tip, her tone became aggressive, and she called another staff member to the front. That person told me I "needed to leave more tip." Only after reviewing the receipt did they realize the tip was $15--not $5 as they had assumed. At that point, I was given a quick apology, saying, "Sorry, I need glasses." By then, the situation had already crossed the line. Being pressured for a higher tip, spoken to aggressively, and then dismissed with a casual apology was both unprofessional and disrespectful. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with courtesy and not put in an uncomfortable position over gratuity. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling more stressed than relaxed.
