Donald Smith was super nice and gave us the overview of his family history in distilling. We tasted 3 whiskey's that he produced, the Sinister, Dignified, and Cherry Bounce. These are either family recipes or in the case of Cherry Bounce a famous recipe of Amos Owens who bought/owned Cherry Mountain. I bought 1 bottle each mainly to just support him and his vision for making great whiskey. It is tough to get started in this business, since you need to age the whiskey for years. I think Sinister was aged just 2.5 years, Dignified 3.5 and can't recall on Cherry Bounce. Don also showed us Old Bessie the still he designed. Its a great visit and worth stopping in to see on your way down I40.

What a great locally family owned distillery! Not only do they have very good quality liquor (…read morewhiskey, rum and a moonshine) Owners Don, his Mom and Wife along with David "Doc" , are really down to earth friendly people that will gladly give you the family history on moonshining. Everything is done in this one building, the mash, the brew and the bottling. It's also a nice gift shop that sells shirts, hats, glass wear, canned goodies like jams and sauces. They offer tours and tastings for $10. It was really cool being able to see the mash cooking away. What other Distillery can you do that at? One thing that is an absolute thing to do, is they have a program where you can do your own bottle. They show you ( and you do the work) from start to finish until you have bottled your own liquor with your name on the bottle.

We were able to sample 4 liquors and 4 liqueur. For the liquors, we samples rum, two types of gin, and vodka. All had high ABVs but the rum and vodka had very light flavors without the usual bite at the end! Their regular gin had a strong juniper taste, while their Shades of Rose Gin carried a lighter, fruitier taste. For Liqueurs, we were able to sample their Appalachian Aperetif, Ginger Cordial, Creme de Cacao, and Coffee Liqueur. My top three were the Shades of Rose Gin, the Ginger Cordial, and the Coffee Liqueur. After choosing our top three samples, our mixologist made us three half cocktails from our selections. The class was amazing, the drinks were amazing, and our mixologist was amazing! The cost of the class was $30 per person.

The owners and staff were so welcoming--I walked in a stranger and left feeling like a friend. I only wish I didn't live all the way in Indiana because this would absolutely be my go-to place. Highly recommend the Caprese flatbread and the Morning After drink, both were so delicious!

The crowd was a little slow (prob due to weather) so not a super vibrant atmosphere when we arrived but it got a little busier as time went on. We enjoyed all of our cocktails, the ones we ordered were: Daiquiri -- 8.5/10 Jungle bird. -- 10/10 our favorite drink of the night!! Iced coffee (this is a cocktail) -- 9/10 because of the uniqueness and the drink was really yummy Mojito -- 9/10 really good mojito but was heavy on the ice Basil French 75 -- 6.5/10 I personally wouldn't order it again, I was excited to try it but it just wasn't my personal preference Hurricane -- 7/10 didn't love this one and asked for more sour mix I would absolutely come here again, especially on a nice summer day, and sit outside to enjoy the vibes! I also think it would be fun to come back for live music. I will say we ordered some food and it was just okay, convenient while drinking yes but not really the standout aspect of this place. We got the pretzel with beer cheese and the meat lovers flatbread, which is very small, about the size of a 8 inch personal pan pizza.

You can book online and pay onsite if you're there on time. Pricing is on their website, and they currently have an active Groupon for their tours.   It's located in West Greenville and very close to downtown. There's plenty of parking. On one side of the interior, there's the bar/lounge area. There's couch-like seating, tables, and the bar. There's also an area for merch. I highly recommend purchasing from them versus your local liquor store, as the prices were cheaper there than anywhere else I've found them being sold.   The other side is the distillery, which is the side you step into for the tour. You start the tour with a cocktail of choices within the options they give you. I started with an old-fashioned, and it was good. Definitely carried a bang with it; a drink for the grown and experienced. It was pretty cool to learn about the distilling process, but it was even cooler to learn about the local and regional ties that made this South Carolina alcohol brand unique. It's informative, and the tour guide is engaging.   Towards the end of the tour, samples are provided of their vodka, which is strong but light tasting and very smooth; their whiskey, which was a bit strong for me but did carry a warm flavor; their bourbon, which was my favorite because it's very smooth and it carries a lot of good notes; their gin, which does have some floral and earthy type notes, and it's really cool how they make it; and another absolute favorite of mine is their Carolina cream. Their Carolina cream is so good. It is seriously delicious! I highly recommend it.   Again, next time I'm in the area and I'm looking for something to do, this will be my go-to place. It was fun, I learned some new things, I enjoyed their alcohol, and it's really neat to learn about something amazingly local, South Carolina.
