My friend recommended I go to a church to meet new people. After doing some research, I decided on Blue Oaks mainly because I liked that it was a casual, come as you type of atmosphere. I joined a couple of groups before actually attending a service. People were really friendly & welcoming. Matt the pastor teaches us about God with humor which I like. I'm not a religious person, but I am starting to believe after attending church here. read more

Blue Oaks welcomed my family with open arms. It really felt good to be there. Pastor Matt is great and the church's music group was really good also. Im happy to call Blue Oaks our home. This is a Bible based teaching Church with the teaching pastor, Matt, doing an excellent job of making the Bible relatable to us today. Without a doubt, every sermon finds a way to be meaningful to me and impacts my life and my future. The people I've met there are so genuine and compassionate. In my tough times, I know I can lean on them for supportive prayer, and without judgment and with open arms. read more

The pastor, Matt VanCleve, is so relatable and easy to learn from. The service is exactly one hour which is nice to count on. Worship is uplifting and makes you want to sing along with the band and beautiful voices of the worship leaders. People are friendly here. I recommend you try it out! read more

We are new and found out via mailbox. Went for the 9:30am service with our grandparents and 8 week old. Upon arrival we were greeted and we checked in our newborn for their kid services which was fantastic. This allowed us to enjoy the worship and sermon in peace. The worship is what you'll hear at contemporary churches which we were used to already. Sermon was great would definitely return. They also had coffee and donuts and clean restrooms. read more

Wonder fellowship and worship. Members were very friendly and the sermon was outstanding. I will definitely go again!

I love the fact that they welcome everyone like family. Friendly smiles everywhere. Pastor Matt preaches wisely, in a fun way and gives life. read more

I am a African American gay woman and visited this church for the first time on 11/5/23. I read the website before attending, and it seemed like it would be a great place to worship and a place for my six year old granddaughter to possibly meet new children and learn more about Jesus Christ. However, I was very disappointed with the lack of warmth and friendliness from the people. I walked in and saw a welcome stand where a Caucasian male was standing. He never greater me or welcomed me. I stood there looking around, trying to figure out where to enter the sanctuary. Eventually, a gentleman and his wife heading into the sanctuary introduced themselves to me, and welcomed me. Had it not been for this couple showing the live and warmth of Christ in them to me, I would give my visit a one. The message was very good, but it's sad to see so many so-called believers so themselves to be unfriendly and welcoming. Thats why so many people don't want to attend church. read more

I went here today for my first time. Immediately I was happy to see coffee tea and donuts. I grabbed a glazed, and walked in Blue Oaks. I was greeted with a pen and paper and went into the auditorium. The three songs were played nicely and I appreciated the ambient music and vibe. The Paster Matt spoke really well too. I felt everyone can relate to his message about Saul. I uploaded the pamphlet so you can refer to it. As I was leaving the service after it finished, I asked one of the ladies to point me out to the New Guest area. I was greeted by Judy who was very warm and kind and was given a cup and info on where to find a nice womens group to join. Very humbled and happy to have found my church home I'll be back again Sunday morning. read more

I was an Easter/Christmas Christian for most of my life. At 52 I was beginning to feel a restlessness inside that no amount of therapy, travel or vicariously living through my child was going to satisfy. I knew it was a spiritual deficit but I was wary of organized religion. Too much hypocrisy and judgement was ingrained into my brain. A friend who I respected greatly invited me to Blue Oaks - I felt an instant sense of "home." I've been attending BlueOaks ever since. Both my husband and my son are now attending also on their own accord. They felt the same thing. A community of Christian's who understand human frailty and teach the gospel based on that I now volunteer in the children's ministry with husband and my son is involved with the youth ministry. It's what we look forward to on Sundays - our weekly compass that keeps us on track when we forget our direction. Check it out - your soul will be forever gratefil read more

After a long spiritual journey, I have definitely found my church home. I always heard pastors talking about "community", but it never seemed to really play out in real life. This church is serious about community, welcoming new people and setting them up well to connect with others. Matt's sermons are Biblically sound, and give you something practical you can use every week. They are serious about grace, so whatever your church history has been, this is likely to be a new experience. In a good way! ***Blue Oaks is now meeting at Foothill High School. This is a great development which will allow for people to have a consistent visual & sound experience! read more

My fiance and I were attending Blue Oaks on weekend visits back home from school this whole past year, and now regularly for the past few months. It's been so good to get plugged in to this amazing community and see how a young church can be such a diverse place in terms of age, backgrounds and passions. And the pastors here are solid men of God who love Jesus and the church. This church is all about Christ-centered community, and I'm so thankful for the many ways we have already been blessed to be a part of it. read more

My wife and I had been away from church for a while, and after having been living in the Bay Area for 1.5 years (we came from the East Coast), we wanted to find a church. One Friday I came to Yelp, searched for churches, and Blue Oaks was the first to pop up.We decided to try it that Sunday and then try other ones until we found one we liked. That was last December. We never had the need to look elsewhere. The staff and attendees are very friendly and welcoming. Pastor Matt delivers his messages in a way that makes us feel closer and more connected to God's Words, by correlating to our lives and actions today. read more

If you are looking for a church that is friendly and authentic, where people are wrestling with trying to figure out what having faith looks like in our community and world then visit Blue Oaks. But be prepared, the conversations are going to be real and people are going to love on you. We have been going for over a year and it is family now. The worship is always great and the messages help make the bible real for me and for today. There are tons of programs for small groups, youth and kids. I find myself laughing a lot there. The church is committed to making a difference in the East Bay Area and it shows in things like food packing events, clothes drives, backpacks for local kids, and many other events listed in their program. Best part for me is I don't have to be a member to help. Everyone has an opportunity to get involved or not. It is just a great place to go and figure things out with nice people who are real. read more

Blue Oaks Church has been meeting at Hart Middle School for about a year and a half. We've consistently attended, almost weekly, for over a year. They have gone to 3 services - all are good. We've seen a solid commitment on the part of staff and volunteers to create a faith-based community having a healthy environment. Blue Oaks is committed to serving the community (local and world wide) through feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, responding to those in need due to natural disasters, etc. Matt is the Teaching Pastor - his teaching is relevant, insightful, bold, funny and he frequently pokes great fun at himself. The teaching is based on scripture, applied to the situations people face every day. In other words, it's not a vacuum life, it's real life. Real situations. Real people - who want to know how to follow Christ in their day to day lives. Jeremiah is the Youth Pastor -- he is a great teacher and very funny. Hilarious and engaging. Blue Oaks uses just the right blend of media and music, too. The worship time is great. The graphics are good, and the themes presented in teaching series have been meaningful to us. Generally, the first weekend each month there is an extended snack and coffee time between services. Over the summer, we had a church BBQ. We've met some nice people. When you enter it's easy to find out information and have your questions answered about where to go, where to take the kids, and what's going on that you might like to get involved in. Another aspect we like are the small groups, where you can really dig in and meet people to form a support network. Groups are available morning, evening, weekend, monthly, weekly, etc. We've found these groups to be very helpful. There are breakfasts for men (what guy doesn't enjoy a hot cooked breakfast?) and vibrant activities for women, such as the annual Christmas dinner. Blue Oaks is a great cross section of society and culture. Lots of "real people" here and we like that. There are singles, students, career, college, families, young marrieds, military families, blended families, new families (just having first babies) empty nesters and couples. Blue Oaks has provided sound wisdom, biblical-based teaching, and has consistently encouraged us to grow in Christ. We are thankful for this church. read more

Blue Oaks Church - Churches Near Me - Pleasanton, California

My husband and I attended Blue Oaks for the first time about 18 months ago with some friends, and we are now regular members. This was our first experience of a church in America (we emigrated from the UK 2 years ago), and we really appreciated the welcoming relaxed atmosphere and engaging messages from Pastor Matt who is very easy to listen to, and always strikes the right chord with us. The church has recently moved to Foothill High School to accommodate a larger congregation and the new facilities are great. The worship team is fantastic and the musicians and singers vary from week to week so it's great to see new faces on stage. Blue Oaks is a very family oriented church and has a great children's and teens ministry, as well as onsite childcare for every service on Sunday. Care in the community is very important to the church, and they regularly partner with local and national charities to hold events and fund raisers. This was especially evident over the Christmas season, with a different charitable event each weekend to get involved in. Blue Oaks also has a wide variety of groups that you can join that meet throughout the week, ranging from more traditional Bible studies to cycling clubs. If you want to extend your network in the church, meet new people, or progress on your spiritual journey there will definitely be a group for you. Overall we love being members of Blue Oaks and are thrilled to have found such a great church to attend. If you are considering going to church for the first time or are looking for a new spiritual home, I cannot recommend it highly enough. I guarantee you will receive a warm welcome :) read more

About a year ago, I started attending the church at Blue Oaks. I really like the the sermon and also the people. From this church, I learn more about the bible, the story, the teaching. Pastor Matt and other pastors in Blue Oaks spends enough of time to explain the Bible and how to relate Bible's stories to our day to day's lives. Now every Sunday, I look forward to come to this church and try not to miss it. read more

I love Blue Oaks. Week after week Matt has awesome sermons. Every week there is something that I take away from his teachings. My husband and I are both very happy that we moved over to Blue Oaks. read more

As a relatively new regular attender of Blue Oaks, I appreciate the clear and concise teaching of both Pastor Matt and Pastor Jeremiah. I like that the teaching is from the Bible, with practical life application. The worship music is dynamic, allowing everyone to join in. Everyone is so nice and welcoming and guests can quickly get connected to everything that is happening just by filling out a card at the beginning of the service. There are special programs and ways to get involved in serving the church and community from Pleasanton to the whole world. And I don't take for granted that coffee and other beverages are provided! read more

The best thing about Blue Oaks is the people. I always feel welcomed and cared for in this church. Everyone is accepted, no matter who you are or what your background is. I am so happy to call Blue Oaks my church home! I grew up in the church and never felt completely accepted or welcome at any of my other churches. I started coming to Blue Oaks regularly in the Spring of 2015 and this place has been a haven for me. I feel Gods love pouring from so many there. Because of the love and acceptance I have felt at Blue Oaks my relationship with God has become deeper and stronger than ever before. I'm thankful for a Godly environment, great people, biblically sound teaching from Pastor Matt and a leadership and staff that are examples of what it means to truly love people, love Jesus and to KNOW him more. The Worship is amazing here too and my 6 year old son loves coming here for kids services as well. I love that getting connected is a huge priority for Blue Oaks. At larger churches it is easy to feel lost and like you don't know anyone on a Sunday morning. We always have studies going on and events to get plugged into and meet others. My bible study group of women has been so uplifting and has brought accountability and godly relationships into my life outside of Sunday mornings. It truly is amazing to see God at work in our community. Definitely try this church if you are looking for a church home! read more

Blue Oaks Church - Worship on Sunday morning! - Churches Near Me - Pleasanton, California

We looked and tried several Christian churches in Pleasanton before finding Blue Oaks, which is great! Everyone is friendly, they don't go crazy with an hour of music, just 3 songs before the pastor starts and the band is good so that helps. Pastor has a good, interesting, relevant topic every week. First time ever in our lives that we have gone to church 3 Sunday's in a row so it says a lot, easy to fit in, not uncomfortable etc read more

I've lived in Pleasanton long enough to have visited many its churches at one time or another. My home church has been one in Dublin for at least 5 years but it has recently gone through some pastoral changes, etc. A friend mentioned Blue Oaks Church which is currently out of Hart Middle School (where my boys have all gone...how convenient!). AWESOME! Everyone I have spoken to is so friendly and they welcome you with open arms. They do not push you but rather just let you do your "thing". But I can see why there seem to be so many volunteers. Blue Oaks seems to foster a very friendly and family like environment without pressure. The teaching pastor always seems to deliver relevant Bible based messages in a very articulate and engaging manner. The Lord does work in amazing ways and we are blessed to have this new church (I think it is less than a year old) in our community. read more

We are told to judge a tree by its fruit, so rather than write about how incredible this small branch of the greater body is, I invite you to come and see the fruit for yourself. And then I invite you to become a part of the body, to grow with us, and to help build up and refine the church with love, truth, and grace. There is room for you. There is a place for you to know others and to be known. This is a place for you to put your unique talents and strengths to use in serving the body of Christ and helping us reach out to serve the East Bay. Blue Oaks is a part of the greater body of believers seeking to grow in depth and richness in it's relationship with the Lord through sound teaching of the Word and the encouragement of the Saints. I have felt challenged, inspired, and cherished by the people of Blue Oaks, and of coarse it is people who we will walk into eternity with, not the building, the music, or the activities. My personal experience with each of those things has been nothing less than fantastic, but what I have felt truly amazed by has been seeing the members of Blue Oaks living out the Word of God in their lives, seeking depth and wisdom, and selflessly giving of themselves in every way I can imagine. The true measure of a healthy church is after all, the people inside of it. There are so many fantastic churches in this area, and I am confident that the Lord is using each one in unique ways to accomplish His purposes. I have personally found my place at Blue Oaks, but as I said above, test, pray, and ask where God would call you specifically. I pray that wherever you end up, that God blesses you above even your own expectations, and that you find a group of believers that you can live among and call "home." read more
