Roto-Rooter - Runnemede, NJ - The Most Dishonest, Predatory Company I've Ever Dealt With…read more Let me be crystal clear: Roto-Rooter (Runnemede, NJ) is a scam operation hiding behind a recognizable name. What they pulled at my home was not just unprofessional--it was manipulative, unethical, and borderline criminal. I called for a toilet backup. Their technician shows up, shoves a camera down the pipe for 2 minutes, then confidently declares my entire sewer line is "collapsed." No snaking. No jetting. No second attempt. Just an instant diagnosis of "collapse" followed by a hard sell for a $15,500 excavation. When I hesitated, I was told: "If you don't want us to do it, I'll call everyone and tell them to go home." That's not service. That's extortion dressed up in work boots. Then comes the magic act: in one quick phone call, the price drops to $13,500--because apparently life-altering plumbing decisions can be bartered down like a flea market table. The tech kept pushing this doomsday story, saying "No matter who you call, it's collapsed," deliberately trying to box me in during a holiday week with a 7-person household needing water. Fast forward: I approved under pressure. What did they find? A basic clog. That's it. No collapse. No structural failure. Just a blockage and a gasket they claimed was "compromised"--which my photos clearly show was intact. Their own manager later admitted no video evidence exists to support the original collapse claim, and that no less-invasive methods were even attempted. But it gets worse. After promising they'd hold the charge while we worked things out, I woke up to find they charged my debit card anyway--over $1,000--with no warning. Not a credit card. My bank account. I'm now dealing with potential overdrafts and damage, all because this company decided to break their word and double down on their scam. Let's recap: * Misdiagnosed problem to push a $13,500 dig * Pressured me under duress to authorize it * Skipped all basic, standard clearing methods * Lied about the condition of the pipe * Admitted they had no proof * Then charged me anyway after saying they wouldn't I'm filing a complaint with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, and I won't stop there. I'll post this review everywhere I can--Yelp, Google, BBB--because people deserve to be warned. Roto-Rooter Camden is not just incompetent--they are predatory. Stay as far away as possible.
