This place is nothing short of stunning, and truly feels like a little piece of heaven. The decorations were rustic and perfectly matched what you'd expect in a simple country home. We stayed in the barn loft, and I was pleasantly surprised when the AC was more than able to keep up with the summer heat in southern Louisiana. The breakfast was simple but good, and much better than any you'll find in a hotel. The pond was beautiful and peaceful, and there were no noises except the sounds of nature (mostly cicadas chirping). I cannot recommend this place enough, and we will most definitely be coming back for future visits.

LOL This is one of my fave places to stay in Louisiana. I grew up in the area & when I want to go home, this is where I want to go kick back. This area is very very special, there is tons of great food, antique stores & historic places you can visit & the coolest place to stay is here. If you are staying for a while, rent the whole cottage. It's beautiful. If your just staying for a few days, stay in the barn. The upstairs is perfect for 2 & it has a Jacuzzi tub. The views of the lake are breathtaking from the front balcony. I LOVE that there is a separate "party barn/cook shack" here that you can cook & hang out outside & take it all in. It's not a shack by any means, it's a very cool set up, a chefs dream outdoor kitchen. Stuff that Louisiana girls LOVE. It's 100 % Louisiana style ;) There are at least 10-12 old oaks draped in moss on the property that are over 200 years old that are registered with the State. Just like a picture perfect dream, flowering shrubs that perfume the air, puppies that greet you on arrival, children playing the the background.. I've dreamt in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas: they've gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the color of my mind - Emily Bronte One of the most beautiful places in the world to me. Highly highly recommend.

They provide plenty of recommendations for restaurants / activities as well. I took one of their recommendations and they didn't disappoint. When I arrived it had been down-pouring for hours and the staff were able to handle it perfectly. Breakfast is a sit down experience with all other lodgers and I had an incredible time. I met some amazing people from all over the world. And the food was delicious! Our breakfast host, Delores or Dee, was so kind and attentive. Truly an incredible experience!

The owner recommended this place. They had one suite available for our Sunday to Sunday stay and we took it. This suite has a second bedroom that we didn't need, but our bedroom is spacious, has a window mounted AC and the bathroom has a shower, not a tub. The bed is comfortable. There is no TV in this room, but we didn't miss it. Donnell is a gracious host as is her staff. Breakfasts are delicious and filling. There is adequate free parking. There are no door locks but there are surface bolts and the house is locked at night. There is no foot traffic or street parking and the site is quiet and secure. This is a charming place that we hope we can return to.

Our stay at T Frere bed and breakfast…read more When me and my husband arrived at T'Frere's House Bed & Breakfast we were very excited to be staying at this B&B because of the history of the house. We were met a few mins after we arrived by Miss Donna she was very friendly and we quickly felt right at home. She showed us around the common areas explained door codes made us feel like we were family. We met Casey and he brought to our attention all the new art work that was acquired for the common rooms, as well as some more history of the house and the fact that soon there will be a small scale model of the house before it was remodeled hand crafted from memory i spired by a 96 year old man that grew up in the house but lives close by. We chose the Fais Do Do suit little private walk way off the courtyard but we look forward to staying in the main house next time. The house was built in 1890 and I have to say I was never hot anywhere in the house or our suit. Louisiana is hot and humid lol The courtyard is beautiful a very nice gentleman was outside hanging lights above the courtyard I can't imagine them not being there they look amazing. Be sure and check for books in the Parlor for info about the B&B history. Our suit had a mini fridge, Keurig, very nice king size towels lots of pillows and lots of plugs, Free WiFi, comfortable bed very spacious rooms, cable tv, beverages and ice are in the guest fridge in the main house. We had breakfast in the sun room at 8:30 delicious eggs, bacon, and biscuits with OJ and Coffee but breakfast changes daily. We will definitely be returning and look forward to staying in each of the rooms. The staff make this place extra special!! And the science museum is right down the road couple miles.

It is very charming and welcoming!! The beds were comfy, rooms were well decorated, there is an assortment of coffee, cookies, water, mini fridge, plush towels, soft linens, etc. We had 3 breakfast's in the main dining room of the house, and all were amazing. My favorite was the poached egg, sausage and grits. The grits were more like a soft polenta and it was full of flavor. The sausage had a glaze from being perfectly cooked and the egg was perfectly cooked (not too runny and not over cooked). The Pain Perdu (French Toast) was custardy and yummy and the biscuits were flaky and a perfect with the Boudin. Our last night there, Madeline hired a local chef/caterer to prepare a fish dinner in their professional kitchen, which is a separate building with a relaxing bar. Two nights we stayed up very late and got lost in conversation with Madeline & Walt. We feel like they are now good friends. They gave us recommendations for the area as well as New Orleans and helped us plan the week. I highly recommend Maison Madeleine for a relaxing, peaceful and comfortable experience. Madeleine is warm and friendly with a wonderful sense of humor!! Per her suggestion we took the Cajun Country Swamp Tour on Lake Martin. Shawn was our guide and the boat tour was a highlight of the trip. We saw so many alligators, that we lost count. There are many beautiful species of birds in the lake and tons of turtles!!! Thank you Madeleine for this great referral!! You are the best and I know we will be back again!!! Don't change a thing!!!

The full rent, $4813.90 was immediately deducted from my debit card on November 10th. On November 13th I informed them of my cancellation. Their website said I could get a full refund if the cancellation was more than 30 days in advance. My cancellation and request for a refund was 55 days in advance of my scheduled arrival date of January 4th, 2024. We exchanged a few emails that said my refund would be given soon. The email communications have stopped and I have been waiting to hear from them for several weeks now. I called two phone numbers listed and either got no answer of a continuous busy signal. I did contact the Better Business Bureau of Lafayette but they didn't get a response from Cajun Stays. It has been suggested that I file a Small Claims filing.
